Overview
Final Fantasy VIII was the eighth installment for the Final Fantasy series. It was released for the PlayStation in 1999 and Windows-based computers in 2000. The game received good reviews and was another commercial success for Square Enix, despite some hardcore Final Fantasy fans disliking it.
The game was the first to remove magic point-based spells, introduced a new sub-game (Triple Triad), a voice track, and the first title to use realistically proportioned characters. Much like every new Final Fantasy it also introduced new gameplay with the Junction System.
