Differences
Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II in the United States, however, the games did have quite a few differences.
- The US release was significantly "dumbed down" and easier than the original version. Square's first three Final Fantasy games were notoriously hard and America was still rather new to the RPG gaming market.
- Some character descriptions and elements of backstory have been cut due to space limitations. For instance, Kain's relationship with his father.
- Removal of some religious references (white magic instead of holy) and certain objectionable graphics. For instance, there is a porno magazine removed from the hidden programmers room in the dwarf castle.
