Final Fantasy XV (2016)

Final Fantasy XV (previously titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII) is the final installment to the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation. Although it is part of the compilation, it will be a completely independent story and set of characters, but will take place in the FFXIII universe. The game was first announced during E3 in 2005 along with Final Fantasy Type 0, however, in a more recent E3 (2013) Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will now be titled Final Fantasy XV. The director of the game (Tetsuya Nomura) states that the gameplay will more 'action' based and similar to Kingdom Hearts and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VIII. The game is also said to have a much more serious, darker tone than the rest in the compilation.

To help expand on the story without developing additional video games, a project called the Final Fantasy XV Universe was created, which included an online anime series and a feature film.

Prologue

Enroute to wed his fiancée Luna on a road trip with his best friends, Prince Noctis is advised by news reports that his homeland has been invaded and taken over under the false pretense of a peace treaty – and that he, his loved one and his father King Regis, have been slain at the hands of the enemy.

To gather the strength needed to uncover the truth and reclaim his homeland, Noctis and his loyal companions must overcome a series of challenges in a spectacular open world - that is filled with large creatures, amazing wonders, diverse cultures and treacherous foes.
