Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is an action-based role-playing game for mobile phones (Android, iOS, Windows Phone) and later Microsoft Windows (PC). It is the official successor/replacement for Final Fantasy Agito which was shutdown in November of 2015 and was only accessible in Japan. Final Fantasy Type-0 Online is set for a late 2016 release date for sure in Japan but a North America release date has yet to be confirmed, although localization for the product has already started for outside of Japan regions.

The game developed by Square Enix and Perfect World for mobile devices and Microsoft Windows (PC). As with with previous iteration of the game (Final Fantasy Agito), the game is set in the universe of Final Fantasy Type-0, forming part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Compilation.

Planning for this title began in 2014 after it was clear that Final Fantasy Agito could not be developed further due to technical difficulties. The game is overseen by staff from Agito, while the main development is handled by Perfect World, who were chosen due to their good track record for domestic and international online games. Over 100 staff at Perfect World were designated to the game's development for more than a year.

the overall gameplay is focused around multiplayer but with a more sophisticated system and hack-and-slash style. The game will again use a free-to-play purchase model - while the base game is free, optional items can be purchased by the player for cash.
