Bosses
Garland
HP: 106
DAMAGE: 15-30
EXP: 130
GP: 250
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: none
INEFFECTIVE: none
STRATEGY: Garland is very easy to beat, as all first bosses are. Hack away with your fighter types, use FIR or LIT and cure. Simple as that.
Pirates
HP: 6
DAMAGE: 8-16
EXP: 40
GP: 40
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: none
INEFFECTIVE: none
STRATEGY: These guys are wimps. Really. Just attack 'em one at a time until they're history. Worse-case situation: they gang up on one of your characters. No problem, just cure and keep attacking. Done deal.
Wizards
HP: 84
DAMAGE: 30-60
EXP: 276
GP: 300
WEAKNESS: LIT
SPECIAL ATTACKS: none
INEFFECTIVE: ICE, FIRE, BANE, BRAK, STUN, SLEP
STRATEGY: These guys are normally easy. The only problem is getting there in with all your HP and MP (and characters, if it's that bad!). You fight them in the room with the boulders surrounding the treasure chest, so when you first enter it, don't move. Just heal yourself then get ready. For your fighter people, cast FAST on them and have them hack away. Also, LIT2 really helps. Cure when necessary and you should be out of there in no time.
Astos
HP: 168
DAMAGE: 26-52
EXP: 2250
GP: 2000
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: RUB, SLO2, FAST, FIR2, LIT2, SLOW, DARK, SLEP
INEFFECTIVE: none
STRATEGY: Can you say annoying SOB? This dark elf's first attack is always RUB, which kills instantly if it hits. I suggest restarting until it misses so that all your characters get the EXP. After that ordeal, just do the normal stuff. FAST on the fighting types, strongest black magics, and cure when needed. Don't waste time or Astos will try RUB again.
Vampire
HP: 156
DAMAGE: 76-152
EXP: 1200
GP: 2000
WEAKNESS: FIRE, HARM
SPECIAL ATTACKS: DAZZLE
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE, ICE, RUB, BANE, BRAK, STUN, SLEP
STRATEGY: Being undead, this makes him susceptible to HRM and FIR spells, and makes the battle easy. So use your strongest ones and he's toast. If you want your fighting people in on the action, FAST them. If someone's hit by the vampire's DAZZLE spell, just keep his HP up until the bloodsucker's dead meat.
Lich
HP: 400
DAMAGE: 40-80
EXP: 2200
GP: 3000
WEAKNESS: FIRE, HARM
SPECIAL ATTACKS: ICE2, SLP2, FAST, LIT2, HOLD, FIR2, SLOW, SLEP, XXXX, ZAP!, NUKE
INEFFECTIVE: ICE, RUB, BANE, STUN, SLEP, BRAK
STRATEGY: This is the second hardest Fiend you can come across, but will be easy when you realize that she's undead. FIR and HRM to the rescue! But first, start off with FAST on your fighting people and AFIR, AICE, and ALIT. And, as always, cure as necessary.
Eye
HP: 162
DAMAGE: 30-60
EXP: 3225
GP: 3225
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: XXXX, BRAK, RUB, LIT2, HOLD, LAMP, SLOW, SLEP
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE
STRATEGY: This guy guards the Floater Stone in the Ice Cave. Big job, good spells, but not enough HP to back it up. One good hit of HRM3 or FIR3 should take care of him. And with all the EXP and GP he has, he's a good monster to use for levelling up around this point in the game. Just make sure you can get out of the Ice Cave when done (or use WARP or EXIT).
Zombie Dragon
HP: 268
DAMAGE: 56-112
EXP: 2331
GP: 999
WEAKNESS: FIRE, HARM
SPECIAL ATTACKS: none
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE, ICE, RUB, BANE, BRAK, STUN, SLEP
STRATEGY: Does the word "zombie" tip you off any? Good. FIR3 and HRM3 are sure bets against this bad boy. Just make sure you're at full strength once you reach him.
Red Dragon
HP: 248
DAMAGE: 75-150
EXP: 2904
GP: 4000
WEAKNESS: ICE, BANE, BRAK
SPECIAL ATTACKS: BLAZE
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE, FIRE
STRATEGY: This one guards the Flame Armor (nice suit) and can be a pain, so he counts for this. Use AFIR to protect yourself and use FAST and ICE2 for quick results. If you're more of a betting person, try BANE or BRAK.
Kary
HP: 600
DAMAGE: 40-80
EXP: 2475
GP: 3000
WEAKNESS: STUN, SLEP
SPECIAL ATTACKS: FIR2, DARK, HOLD
INEFFECTIVE: LIT, ICE, FIRE, BANE, BRAK
STRATEGY: She's the third toughest of the Fiends, but still can pack a punch. Start off with FAST and AFIR, and rely on your fighting types. Elemental Magic doesn't help much in this one since none of them are her weakness. Try STUN on her instead.
Kraken
HP: 800
DAMAGE: 50-100
EXP: 4245
GP: 5000
WEAKNESS: LIT
SPECIAL ATTACKS: DARK, LIT2, LIT3
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE, FIRE
STRATEGY: Kraken, the Fiend of Water, AKA a joke. His favorite attack to use is DARK, which doesn't do a think. FAST and ALIT and cast LIT3 on his butt to take care of this spoony squid.
Blue Dragon
HP: 454
DAMAGE: 92-184
EXP: 3274
GP: 2000
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: none
INEFFECTIVE: RUB, BANE, STUN, BRAK,SLEP
STRATEGY: This one's more of a mini-boss, really. Just FAST your fighting types and have the magical ones sit out of this one. Elemental Magic barely does a thing.
Warmech
HP: 1000
DAMAGE: 128-256
EXP: 32000
GP: 32000
WEAKNESS: none
SPECIAL ATTACKS: NUCLEAR
INEFFECTIVE: none
STRATEGY: Warmech is the hardest monster ever (including the Fiends and Chaos). He's on the long bridge to Tiamat's Room, and I suggest avoiding him unless you're very brave or extremely foolish. His NUCLEAR can decimate a party within a few castings, and his physical attack and easily take care of a Mage in one hit. If you are willing to go up against him, use AFIR, FAST, and INV2. Save your healer for curing, because you'll need it badly. Try using Ribbons; they help with NUCLEAR a bit. If you are lucky enough to beat him, then you'll most likely use him for levelling up and GP gain.
Tiamat
HP: 1000
DAMAGE: 49-98
EXP: 5496
GP: 6000
WEAKNESS: BRAK, BANE
SPECIAL ATTACKS: THUNDER, POISON GAS, BLIZZARD
INEFFECTIVE: QAKE, ICE, LIT, FIRE
STRATEGY: Tiamat is the hardest Fiend you'll meet. There are two good ways to beat this one: a "cheating" way or a fair way. The "cheating" way is to try casting BANE on him and equipping a fighting person with the Bane Sword. The fair way is FAST and INV2 at the beginning and hit him with your strongest magics.
Chaos (AKA "The End Boss")
HP: 2000
DAMAGE: 100-200+
EXP: none
GP: none
WEAKNESS: Yeah right.
SPECIAL ATTACKS: ICE3, LIT3, FIR3, NUKE, FAST, CUR4, CUR3, SLO2, CRACK, INFERNO, SWIRL, TORNADO
INEFFECTIVE: Just about everything.
STRATEGY: You finally made it, didn't you? Good work! Now, just defeat him and you're home free! But, he isn't easy. He can cure himself back to full strength, use amazing spells (that hurt a lot), and his physical attack isn't that great either. First, you must prepare yourself in mind, grasshopper...
OK, 'nuff of that. Onto the real stuff. First off, use INV2 and FAST, especially on a Ninja or whoever has the Masmune. Cast WALL on as many people as you can. Use NUKE and FADE against him as well. Use your White Mage for healing and resurrection. This battle may take a while, but sooner or later, you'll beat him! Congraduations! You've beaten Final Fantasy!
HP: 106
DAMAGE: 15-30
EXP: 130
