Espers

The magic force of the Espers can be learned by fighters who are equipped with Espers while they earn Magic Points. When a fighter learns 100 percent of an Esper's spell, he or she can use the spell.

In the early stages of the game only two of your characters, Terra and Celes, can use magic. It isn't until later in the game, when you begin to collect Magicite Crystals, that the other characters will able to cast spells. Magicite is what remains of an Esper when its life has ended. There are many different Espers to collect.

Equipping Espers

Each fighter in your party can use one Esper at a time. Select the Esper command from the Skills heading for a particular fighter and move the cursor to an Esper that is highlighted, then press the "A Button" to equip that Esper.

Select from the list an Esper which is not already being worn by a member of your party, then press 'A'. While you wear the Esper, Magic points you earn will go toward learning the Esper's spells. As your fighters increase their Experience Levels, some Espers will reward them with extra powers.

Alexander

You can find Alexander on the throne of Doma Castle after you've defeated Wrexsoul in the World of Ruin. Alexander uses Justice, a ray of holy light, to attack a gorup of enemies. These attacks work best against undead creatures.

Bahamut

You receive Bahamut after your party defeats the terror of the skies, Doom Gaze, in the world of Ruin. Bahamut attacks enemies with the Sun Flare attack, which causes massive damage to the entire group.

Bismark

You can find Bismark in the MagiTek Research Facility located in the town of Vector. Its Sea Song attack engulfs enemies in a blast of bubbling water. Sea Song is a strong water elemental attack.

Carbunkl

You can find Carbunkl in the MagiTek Research Facility located in the town of Vector. This Esper uses its Ruby Power to cast Reflect on your entire party.

Crusader

You receive Crusader after defeating all eight of the legendary dragons. Its purifier attack damages everyone on the screen - even your party. Be VERY careful when using this Esper.

You receive Fenrir after defeating Phunbaba in Mobliz. its Moon Song spell makes the party much harder to hit than normal.

Golem

You can purchase Golem for 20,000 GP in the Jidoor Auctino House any time after the party escapes Vector. Its Earth Wall spell helps protect the party from physical attacks.

Ifrit

You can find Ifrit in the MagiTek Factory located in the town of Vector. Its Inferno attack blasts enemies with a huge firestorm. The inferno spell is a fire elemental attack.

Kirin

You can find Kirin at the top of the tower in Zozo after the battle with Dadaluma. Kirin casts a regeneration spell on your entire party that causes them to slowly regain lost HP.

Maduin

You can find Maduin in the MagiTek Research Facility located in the town of Vector. Its Chaos Wing attacks enemies with powerful bolts of energy.

Odin

You can find Odin in the Ancient Castle, which can only be found in the World of Ruin. Odin charges through a group of enemies with its Atom Edige attack, which slices them in two.

Palidor

You can find Palidor on the beach of the Solitary Island where Celes begins in the World of Ruin. This Esper won't appear until you've received the second Airship. Palidor's Sonic Drive attack picks up the entire party and drops them onto any enemies below.

Phantom

Phoenix

You receive Phoenix after locating Locke in the Phoenix Cave in the World of Ruin. When summoned, it uses Rebirth to bring any K.O.ed party members back to life.

Ragnarok

You can find Ragnarok inside the Weapon Shop at Narshe in the World of Ruin. The player must choose to keep the Ragnarok as a stone rather than turning it into a powerful sword. When used in battle, the Ragnarok attempts to turn an enemy into an item using its Metamorph attack. You can increase the odds of this working by lowering the opponent's HP and casting Vanish on the enemy.

Raiden

Raiden is a transformed version of Odin. To get the transformation to take place, you must get the Odin Esper from the Ancient Castle and then find the Queen's statue. The statue will transform Odin into Raiden. When summoned, Raiden charges i nto battle and uses the True Edge to cut enemies in two.

You can find Ramuh at the top of the tower in Zozo after the fight with Dadaluma. He attacks with the powerful Bolt Fist, a lightning elemental attack that strikes all enemies.

Siren

You can find Siren at the top of the tower of Zozo after the battle with Dadaluma. Siren's Hope Song casts Silence on all enemies when she's summoned into battle.

Sraphim

You can find Sraphim any time after the party's assualt on Vector. You must pay a thief 300 or 30 GP for the Esper in the town of Tzen, depending on whether you purchase it during the World of Balance or the World of Ruin. When summoned, Sraphim's Reviver spell heals the party's wounds.

Starlet

You can find Starlet in Owzer's bookcase after defeating Chadarnook in Owzer's house in the World of Ruin. Starlet's Groupo Hug heals your party and awakens any sleeping characters.

Stray

You can find Stray at the top of tower of Zozo after the battle with Dadaluma. Stray confuses the party's enemies with its Cat Rain.

Terrato

You can find Terrato in the bone statue inside Umaro's cave located above Narshe during the World of Ruin. Terrato's Earth Aura attack causes a huge shockwave that damages all enemies.

Tritoch

You can find Tritoch on a cliff above Narshe during the World of Ruin. You must defeat the Tritoch Esper before it will join you. Its Tri-Dazer attack combines Fire, Ice, and Thunder magic into powerful elemental bolts of energy.

Zoneseek

You can purchase ZoneSeek for 10,000 GP at the auction in Jidoor any time after the party escapes from Vector. ZoneSeek's wall spell creates a barrier that protects your entire party from magic attacks.

New Espers

Four new espers appear in Final Fantasy VI Advance. All of them are available through side quests.

Leviathan

Leviathan can be found on the ferry moving between South Figaro and Nikeah after you find Edgar in the World of Ruin. Leviathan uses a Tidal Wave to do massive water elemental damage to all enemies.

Cactuar

Cactuar can be obtained in thehe desert near Maranda after you get the airship in the World of Ruin. You must fight 10 cactuars in the Maranda desert then walk around (south west area of the desert) until you encounter Gigantuar - then defeat him.

Gilgamesh

You can obtain Gilgamesh by going to the Auction House in Jidoor after you get the airship in the World of Ruin. Talk to the guy outside of the auction house about a new sword that is on sale. Enter the AuctionHouse and wait for the Excalipoor to come up, bid on it each time until you buy it (500,000 gil!). Once you have purchased it, go to the Coliseum and bet the Excalipoor. Gilgamesh will appear and you have to defeat him.

Diablos

You obtain Diablos by defeating the Kaiser Dragon in the Dragon's Den after getting an airship in the World of Ruin. Diablos uses a powerful spell called Dark Messenger, which reduces the health of all enemies to very low.
