Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII (2006)

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is another game part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII metaseries. Like the rest of them, it takes place in a similar setting with a few of the characters from Final Fantsay VII. Dirge of Cerberus had far different gameplay than most Final Fantasy fans were used to. It was more of an action, first person shooter, but it did have some core RPG features blended into it. Square Enix even made additions to the western release of the game to make it more "appealing". The story takes place three years after the events from Final Fantasy VII and stars Vincent Valentine, one of the main characters in Final Fantsay VII.

The game was the first of the series to be a completely different genre other than RPG, because of this, the game received a wide array of reviews. Many of the long time Final Fantasy fans did not like the new approach and were expecting something closer to the original gameplay in Final Fantasy VII. Expectations were just not met, however, the game continued to sell $1.5 million world-wide.
