    HEEY!!

Everybody needs that panda picture, it's teH RULEZ OMGZ!!
    OK I'm joking.

BTW, I am from Norway too. And yeah it is pretty damn hot..
    *turns on fan*

Oh and Akira, my opinion is that Civ IV sucks and that their zooming attempt was some wierd stuff basically. Never played the full game though but it sure as hell looked... strange o_O

Try out the demo before you buy it, mkay?

    Oh and EDIT:

Sorry Winter I didn't see your posts...

Not to mention going to at least 2-2 upgrades for the carriers and increasing carrier capacity.
Yeah, I was kinda hoping you wouldn't attack me But I'm more used to fastest and stuff, though I have practiced more on BGH and maps like that lately YAY me.

Also 4 gateways is because of Toss' slow production and at some point I am gonna need some Zlots or Dgoons, carriers or not.
Carrier capasity is cheap and I go that when the becon is finished so I pretty much have that upgrade done when building the fleet.

But as I said I have played on Hunters and stuff like that and what happens usually is that people with one base attacks my expansions in full force driving me back to my main, before I can complete my hatchery. Yeah, I am usually Zerg on maps like that.
EDIT: Unrelated to weather, darkViVi, when playing non-money maps you don't need to drop 4 gateways really early on like I saw you did in the TvP game we played. You can't make use out of all 4 at once so it's better to just go gate -> core -> gate and efficiently make units from those two while constantly making probes. Do not cease probe production at any point until it gets to the late game.
I know I can't use them all in the beginning, but I don't like Protoss slow warping, on maps like Fastest it's ok because you can fill up your base with as many gateways you'd like. I know my non-moneymap strategy sucks... I need to look up on it and I am. If you are available at some point let's try a PvP and I can save the replay to see how you are building with Protoss on perhaps Luna, I think that would be helpful.

BGH doesn't have any cliffs, does it? I don't like the infinte resources you get in your main base, pretty much reducing the need to expand although you will have to build outside of your main eventually due to space. Try out some non-money maps.

Yes, at some point. But not right at the start. If you think you're going to need them soon then get them. For fast carriers you only needed 1 gateway, so your 3 extra cost you 450 minerals which could've gotten you up the tech tree faster.

Are you expanding too fast? Or do you mean you have trouble holding off an attack when you fast expand? Here's a quick summary:

ZvT - Terran usually won't move out until he has ~12M&M with a firebat or two. When you see that you'll pretty much have to put down some sunkens.
ZvZ - I am terrible at this matchup. I'm pretty sure Relm is much better at this than me. If you ever see her online, which I haven't recently, ask her how to play this. All I can say is generally 9 pool>12 hatch>12 pool>9 pool. But then there are opening builds which are like 9 gas (fast mutalisks) and I don't know how that fits into things.
ZvP - I almost always go 12 hatch at my natural expansion, and if Protoss comes with zealots then I bring 3 drones to my natural and start morphing them into sunkens, while I have my 6 zerglings harassing the zealots. If a sunken is morphing and about to die then cancel it. As long as you get one sunken colony up you should be fine. Many Protoss players I play like to send a corsair after this.

Protoss is my weakest race. Also, different matchups have different opening builds. But I'm free quite a lot of the time so if you ever see me on MSN then I'll probably be able to play.

EDIT: It's so ****ing hot right now I'm afraid some components in my computer will overheat and stop working properly. My laptop feels very hot at the moment. And it's barely cooling down at night times either. Sleeping is awfully hard.

Yeah, the alarm went off on my computer the other day.. It seems to be cooled properly now though. The CPU temp was at over 70C at one point while playing StarCraft O_O

If you are worried about your computers health I have a free program that lets you check your temp in windows, also there is an alarm if it should start to overheat. Let me know if you want it, eh?

    Yeah.. *sighs...

But I will most definately need Zelots if I am attacked, thats why I build them, also gateways isn't much more expencive than Zlots so...

Another hot day. We lost power today for about an hour thanks to the power running out... I only slept for a few measly hours. I feel like shit. I guess I'll try and sleep again later, but it'll probably be impossible. I just want to get naked and sit in the pool. (Meant to sound as unperverted as possible). It's just too hot...

Sounds interesting, but I like to have as few background programs running on my computer as necessary; so if the heat gets worse then I'll consider it. Thanks for the offer.

2v2 games are quite different to 1v1 games. In 2v2 I find build orders are more relaxed and you get tech when it's needed. For example, I played a 2v2 on LT yesterday where I went Terran (like usual) and my ally was Zerg, we were again a ZP partnership. I went fast gas (at 12 or 13 supply) and I got +1 infantry attack before factory. Then my ally destroyed the Zerg's sunken colonies and my MMF force took down the Zerg's base. I repeatedly asked my Zerg ally for an overlord but he just didn't send one and I got owned by Dark Templar. For two reasons:

    1) I was feeling over-confident and decided to not wall up my ramp.
    2) I thought scan would take care of any DT so I left about 5 marines and 1 medic at my ramp when I moved out. I was too cheap to build a bunker.

Which is another thing, in 2v2 games you have to make sure your defense is very strong. We should play some 2v2 games some time.

In PvT you don't really need to get a zealot. Doing so slows down your tech. Afterall, what is Terran going to attack you with? If Terran tries to play 11/13 barracks then you'll see it and you can get defenses up; otherwise Terran needs to tech quickly to factory + machine shop because the first dragoon comes out before the first tank.

Expand when you can defend your expansion. My expanding isn't that good, I need a lot more practice at controlling the map. With Protoss you can just have 1-2 templar at your expansions, with a few well placed cannons near the Nexus. If your opponent is going to raze your expansion then you need to constantly scout and see when it's on the move and hopefully cut him off. If you don't, then try taking down one of his expansions, as he must split his army to attack your expansion.

It's getting cooler here now. I guess the heatwave is over. I want it to stay away now, at least until next year.

I really hate hot weather. I should go to Alaska for the summer...

Finally the heatwave is over, now bring on the obligatory thunderstorms.

Hopefully Scotland will be ok next week and not flood again, like last time.
It seems wherever and whenever I go on holiday a town nearby floods, just as we are leaving or whilst we're stuck inside.

  10. #370
I was pretty pleased with the heavy showers yesterday, and the temperature has dipped while there has been no rain today. It's quite nice at the moment.

Also, I believe you get many days of constant daylight during the Summer in Alaska. darkViVi should be able to confirm this for me since there should also be prolonged periods of constant daylight in the northern regions of Norway too.

Are you serious? In Japan, you lucky bastard. You must be somewhere in the south of Honshu if it's raining so much. What brings you to Japan (are they purely vacational reasons)?

Awww shit......you made me spurt. Guess your intention to not sound perverted didn't work.

I've been going without a shirt for the last three weeks or so non-stop (meant to sound as erotic and sensual as possible). This weather is killing me.

Sounds cool Usagy. Did you visit the used panty dispenser machines yet?

Seriously though, what are some of the things you undertake while you're there? I'd loved to go in the next few years and have made it one of my main priorities (right behind getting a good finish in school as well as modding my car).

Indeed, that only goes for up north beyond the Polar Circle though. My place of birth is well beyond that line. For 2 months it is like a awfull long day, and again in the winter it's utterly dark for 2 months.

I seem to remember taking a screenshot when I was visiting my mom, and I just uploaded another pice so I have my photobucket account open.

    Here
Note, it is taken at 2 or 3 AM. I hate that, I HATE TRYING TO SLEEP IN THE LIGHT!!!! *sniffles*

Also Winter sorry but apparently I think I forgot to reply to our discussion

Sounds interesting, but I like to have as few background programs running on my computer as necessary; so if the heat gets worse then I'll consider it. Thanks for the offer.
Yeah me too and I rarely use it, if you decide to grab it, it's called Motherboard Monitor and it doesn't launch at start up you just have to launch it when you think your comp is overheating. Anyway...

2v2 games are quite different to 1v1 games. In 2v2 I find build orders are more relaxed and you get tech when it's needed. For example, I played a 2v2 on LT yesterday where I went Terran (like usual) and my ally was Zerg, we were again a ZP partnership. HAHA to cheap to build a bunker, eh?
Yeah, unless I and my allies are going for a fast Zealot rush I build my defences, the beauty of Protoss is that defences are quickly built compared to Terrans and Zerg, but it depends on what map I'm playing also I mostly play 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
Which is another thing, in 2v2 games you have to make sure your defense is very strong. We should play some 2v2 games some time.
Indeed, I'd like that. But I need more practice on non-money maps, I am still not too sure how to spend my recources when they are low since Protoss is so expencive.

True, but I often get rushed by Marines, and I rarely pay 1v1 very often I have Zergs to fight to and they can rush quite fast with lings and Zealots is a good ling defence a small group of lots can deal easily with a pretty large group of lings.

Expand when you can defend your expansion. My expanding isn't that good, I need a lot more practice at controlling the map. With Protoss you can just have 1-2 templar at your expansions, with a few well placed cannons near the Nexus. Need to remember...... Observers LOL
Yeah I often forget because I try to defend against any possible form for sneak attack, kamikaze attacks on Nexuses is a popular assault with Mutalisks and such..
But some DT's would be a good idea along with a few cannons.

  15. #375
Have never ever seen one of those panty vending machines, they might have been forbidden in the last few years. Vending machines selling alcohol have been made illegal as well in Tokyo unfortunately, supposedly they're still around in Kyoto though.
Well today I'm going to Nikko, which is a temple complex like 100 miles north of Tokyo, very beautiful supposedly.

    Peace out

What?!?! No more panty dispensers!!! Man I just lost alot of reason to go to Japan......I mean, no I didn't. I'm not into that kind of stuff, you know. At least they still have a billion other dispenser machines that distribute almost anything.

Seriously though, didn't they get disgraced after Jarvis Cocker decided to get onto the stage and start performing when Michael Jackson was singing during the Brit Awards one year? Or maybe the decline of Pulp was because their music started to become less popular? I don't know.

Yes, you are eligible to join, nightscare. Joining doesn't really mean much though.

Also, what film is your avatar from?

Oh, if you see two barracks then you need to get some zealots. And perhaps consider getting a forge for cannons, although that's fairly expensive. PvZ is different to PvT. In PvZ zealots first are the right choice. I find dragoons are only useful for killing lurkers and ultralisks. Anything where their damage won't get reduced because of unit size, really. Use archons to take out mutalisks.

The film is battle royale, its kinda hard to get hold of and if anyones seen it I'd love to talk about battle royale and battle royale 2 partically 2 actually, Im glad this TFF of europe and not TFF of america or something because the americans never got to see these films they were banned there, probably a good thing too...

I don't think Common People is that good, but then again the first time I heard the song was a cover version done by William Shatner. Haha.

I thought the film was Battle Royale, but I don't consider it a horror film so I decided to not say anything in case I looked foolish. But yeah, the girl in the avatar is the same person who plays Gogo Yubari in Kill Bill, right? That's the reason why she wears a school uniform in Kill Bill - as homage to Battle Royale.

Unfortunately, I've only ever seen the beginning of Battle Royale. I really wanted to watch it all but I was unable to do so because I had to get up early the next day and the film was being shown fairly late.

So, you like horror films? Have you ever seen R-point? I made a thread on it in the Television and Movies section of TFF, to which the thread received 0 replies. My favourite horror film is probably...no, I can't decide.

  21. #381
God I love horror movies which is why I've got the IT sig as well, gotta love stephen king, though being american he loses points. But his books are great im currently reading the stand its amazing though IT is always going to be my favourite book I think.

In terms of movies its not limited to much,I'll watch anything and everything. I do like a nightmare on elm street because freddy is very cool. Cabin Fever is very good not your typical run, slash, kill kinda horror. And of course I rencently had the pleasure of watching Battle Royale 1 and 2,It is classed as a horror film, however the more mature and subtle aspects show through. The need to kill each other off before the 3 days certainly adds pace. Its quite a shocker and if your not used to horror movies or gore then I wouldn't watch it. It made me cry(1 only once but 2 I bawled my eyes out!) just at the begining during a flashback I won't tell you what happens though. Definately suggested viewing!

It sounds like you have something against Americans. Why is this?

I haven't read much by Stephen King, in fact, the last book I read written by him was the first part of his Dark Tower series, and I didn't think it was very good. So I decided to continue with The Wheel of Time series, which unfortunately got dragged out a bit too much and I suspect Robert Jordan is milking the series for everything it's worth. It's a shame because I quite liked the first few.

Yes, I will watch any film; although often I won't watch all of a teen romance film because they seem very generic. With the release of the new Pirates of the Carribean film I've been reminded of an excellent German movie I watched quite some time ago called Das Experiment. (I now expect Samurai Kenji to appear in this thread and talk about it). I think of it because the first Pirates of the Carribean film was released at the same time. Still, Das Experiment was very, very good. It had be rather gripped and there was brilliant acting. |The recreation of real-life events was well done so it ended up being presented as a powerful theme. I want to say it was shocking, but I'm not easily shocked, and I may come across as "a fag" if I do so. So I won't. I recommend this film though.

The prolonged high temperatures in England are becoming a nusance, as well as the insects, flies, moths and other little creatures with the potential of entering my home.

  23. #383
I don't like moths much they seem pointless because butterflies are much nicer!

In terms of americans I don't hate all american people just george w.bush and I do believe they have bastardised the english language. Thats about it really.

The same girl does play in BR though, but it's not the girl in the avatar. I saw part 1 and 2 loads of times and I really loved them.

I love Stephen King books, and Winter. it's a very long serie (the dark tower one) and the first book is pretty much an intro to the rest of the series. So just live with it and continue to read the rest of the books, it's worth it.

    Peace out

hmm I may consider buying some of the dark tower series,I was going to buy the 1st one but I bought his new book cell instead,I really enjoyed it! Though I still think his older novels are better. Would you recommend the dark tower series? I like stephen kings' style overall so I may like it I'm just not too sure what the series is about.

Use archons to take out mutalisks.
Indeed, but how would you scout?

I mean teching up to Obs at once will leave me vulnerable for a rush and sending a probe will delay my income.

Ah, right. Thanks for pointing that out. I really must watch Battle Royale some time.

Okay, I'll look into it next time I'm at a library.

Speaking of books, I recommend my favourite book of all time, winner of the Man Booker Prize in 1989, The Remains of the Day. It's such a beautifully written story with really nice themes throughout. It was also made into a film starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson but I haven't seen it. Also, it has nothing to do with the horror genre.

Send a probe to scout on the 9th or 10th supply. By the time you get to Terran's base you should see a barracks being built, head over to the gas geyser to see if a refinery is being built there. If not, warp in an assimilator and hope the Terran player does not leave the game; like I have on a few occassions. If it is in use then Terran probably won't go for two barracks. If it's not in use then run the probe around the base as long as you can and if Terran is going to build another barracks then you should see it, or you can guess if Terran will do so if you haven't stolen his gas and he's not getting a refinery.

Sometimes when my gas gets stolen I leave the game. I do this because I know I will lose later on, so I may as well leave now and have the result as a draw since gas stealing occurs within 2 minutes of the start.

I'll take a look at that book then sometime Winter.
And yes Nightscare I recommend the series to you, it's a different theme than the usual things that you might be used of from Stephen King, and like I said the first book might be a little bit of a bitter pill to get through, but it's pretty much the prologue for the story, its friggin huge so yeah it needs to have quite a long introduction.
The thing I loved so much about the serie is that it's so unpredictable loads of times, crazy things happen. It all takes place in some world that is partially the same as we live in, but partially fantasy like, you'll see what I mean when you read it. It kept me fascinated till the very end.

    Peace out

Hmm yes, that never happened to me though. But sounds like a good plan though it will use a bit of my recources and the player I steal gas from will most likely destroy my assimilator, I think.

Nontheless it's a good plan that will work from time to time. Muchos grazias senior.

    Furthermore... The rain is delayed until Monday ;_;
Stupid hot weather, so I'll still be tormented for a few more days.
