Gray Edwards is the military Captain of the elite Deep Eyes squadron which patrols the vast restricted wasteland overrun by Phantoms.
Aki Ross

Aki is the main character in the film and was one of the first photorealistic, computer generated human characters to star in a film. During early production of The Spiritins Within, there were plans to use this characters as reusable actress for future films, but never happened.
Ryan Whittaker
Voice: Ving Rhames
Ryan Whittaker is 2nd in command of the Deep Eyes and helps keep everyone together for captain Gray Edwards
Dr. Sid
Voice: Donald Sutherland
Dr. Sid is a scientist who discovered the "energy" within living things and came up with the "Gaia Theory", meaning each life is born of Gaia and each life returns to Gaia.
Jane Proudfoot
Voice: Peri Gilpin
Jane is another member of the elite Deep Eyes squad and being the only woman in there, she stands strong. She has a vast knowledge of artillery and has a strong sense of exploring for the 7th sense.
Neil Fleming
Voice: Steve Buscemi
Neil Fleming is another memeber of the Deep Eyes squad and his funny attitude provides comic relief for the movie.
