S'like Sony still gotz PS2 Slim out on the market for $99 - I -seent- it at Wal Mart once, I swear. Ya know, 'cuz the newer PS3s aren't backwards compatible.
I severely doubt both sony and microsoft will have any serious, impending ramifications from any issues or consumer degradation from their consoles both companies were big boys before the console wars (remembering that sony had a big lead on that) I'm sure they can man up and continue with their other avenues.
If people want to play xbox or ps4 exclusive games then they will have to buy one or the other simple as that. And if people hate the xbox one then they can always buy a xbox 360.
Hell they are even releasing a new designed 360, and there are still hundreds of decent games for the 360.

So PS4 is not backwards compatible either? Damn, what drove Sony to ditch this? Why give in to the dark side?
It shouldn't come as to much of a shock, ps3 was never backwards compatible which was a small reason I went to xbox I still envy the fact that Gran Tourismo is Sony exclusive damn you Polyphony Digital .
Speaking of which a lot of developers will still be bringing out their new games on the ps3 and 360 still.

It was at first, but then without any explanation - just dropped it.
Yeah true but didn't they do that with ps3 I thought they came straight out with it and said it won't be backwards compatible.
Wait I have a sense of dejavu aren't we having this same discussion in another thread haha.

Yeah, we kind of are. Anyways, my game retailer told me they just dropped it in later versions of ps3 and didn't really explain anything. That's why older used ps3's are way more valuable than the newer ones.
Wait your saying that the older versions were backwards compatible......

Yes they were. Then Sony just dropped it and didn't really explain anything. **** move, tbh.
They removed the backwards compatibility because it costed them too much money to maintain it; the way they had it built. Every system was being sold at a major loss, so they had to cut back the BC to make some profit. That's why it got removed. (And yes, they did explain it. You just had to go looking for it.)
I don't really mind the lack of BC for PS4 because (well i'm not everyone) i still have my PS3, PS2, and PS1.
Also, most gaming PCs completely outperform the Xbone. Excluding 'Modded comps' isn't really an excuse. Even normal sold PCs (that are 'top of the line') out perform it. Have you seen its specs? PS4 has better specs.
But anyway. Also last gen, I don't think PS3 or 360 are 'the same as a PC'. Not as bad as the Xbone, in any case.
Xbone requires that all discs be installed. Has to be online once per 24 hours. After the '10 family members' thing, you cannot give/share a copy with another friend, unless they pay the 'fee' (which.. is basically just buying the game.) and that 'fee' is the full price of the game. PC does this too.
Also, even with Xbox Live's digital shop, they never give discounts to any of their games. Or rarely do.
Granted, overall in the grand scheme of things, it's not that great of a deal, but as I said, those restrictions basically make it a PC. And not just metaphorically this time.
I do respect you Vic but that's BS, the xbone would outshine a lot of stock bought computers.
You're only preaching what I already knew, how were the last gens not similar to a pc especially the 360 s. Like I stated most people likened the old gens to be very similar to a pc.
No I never did see many discounts but the still had sales and other promotional things up for grabs.
Edit: Wait hold the phone, guess what made the number 5 spot on the 'best graphics cards for 2013'
the Radeon 7870, well played sony well played. The 7790 didn't even get a mention

does anyone have a current list of XBOne exclusive games so far?
I would also like to hear a word from our resident used game peddler expert Cesar on this one. I know that Gamestop doesn't make the majority of their money from selling used games, but I wonder how this may affect your business.

hahas, updated July 28th (oldie but goodie!):
Well, the way I see it is, when you say that the Xbone outshines stock computers, that's not fair. Because of course it does. Plain cheap stock computers, sure. If you build one on dell or hp.com or alienware, that's a different story.
Don't take the 'custom built' computers out of the equation. That isn't fair to the argument at hand. Isn't that what's called strawman argument? If you take out the example that disproves your side and only mention the stuff that proves it, then of course your side of the argument is sound and correct.
But oh well. I don't like to go too deep into arguments like this. You have your side and I have mine. xP

Kind of expounding on the ongoing discussion here:
Not that any of this post matters to the dedicated console gamer, but you have to consider the long-term.
Stock or not, intrinsically PC technology will surpass the tech within any console pretty quickly due to the constant improvements being made to core components. Expandable storage, upgradable RAM, nextgen processing... you get the idea. There are also more options available from any number of quality manufacturers.
Improvements in the PC industry move at a faster pace than a typical console's lifespan, which is generally what? 4-5 years? PC parts are made to be swappable so there's a greater growth in power over time---power that a console sitting on an entertainment center shelf for half a decade can only dream about having.
Consoles may make bigger jumps in power between generations but PCs make a longer series of shorter jumps that don't plateau somewhere between console releases.
Hell, I'm not even sure you can upgrade the *hard drives* in these next generation consoles, which would worry me if everything needs to be installed from the disc like with the Xbox One. I haven't heard one way or the other on this point. Does anyone know this?
Most console gamers accept these tradeoffs, though. But honestly, consoles are a poor man's PC. This is especially true as the gap in power draws closer between the two.

Users are indeed able to upgrade PS4's hard drive, same can't be said for XBox One though.

Preordered PS4 today with $50, since today was the last day to preorder. Asked and was told PS4 will have alot more of good games this time around and PS3 had too, but they just showing up later on. Anyways, I'm pretty excited, this will be my next console since N64, because I'm a PC guy, but to have a console is cool as well, especially if you want to replay all the FF's from 8 and up.
Will it be able to play all the earlier FF's in digital format?
Here is a linky
Xbox One has non-replaceable hard drive, external storage is supported
Penello confirmed that the USB 3.0 port is there for external storage, which can be used for everything the internal storage can be used for. That includes game installs and downloads.
Ah then my apologies if I worded it wrong but that's what I meant, and I wasn't excluding hardcore gaming computers it was just a meer general observation that both the xbone and ps4 outshine stock coms, and when you look at the stats both consoles push out 1.6ghz whereas one of the uper grade coms was only 1.5ghz and if I said the ps4 would outshine even most serious gaming pcs then I wouldn't be lying seeing as the Radeon 7870 is 5th on the board for best GPU for 2013.
You do have a valid point, and the fact that pcs have more variables that can be manually upgraded with out having to replace the whole system gives them and advantage.
This is true, usb ports for external hardrives, as did the the old gen don't know about the ps4 though.

IDK, I'm certainly not a...La Li Lu Le Lo... *ahem* Brand-Loyal Zombie.
But to a degree, we are all kind of in that boat, aren't we? The majority of us jumped on PS1's **** since the days of FF7 and have been riding Sony til FF12 and have been brand loyal ever since, because we are FF fans and Sony has always had the "understanding"(wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more) with Square(since the days of FF7, anyway). We're only superior and haughty now because, in the end, we won the console war(or are at least out ahead and in the lead, atm). Don't get me wrong, it's like going to the horse race and seeing your bet pull ahead at the zero hour. I'm fine with it. I've had PLENTY of my friends who were all willing to be total assholes when they announced "599 US dollars" and liked to poke me in the sides when I didn't get Oblivion DLCs or **** with me about MWII(which I couldn't have given a shit about)
Me? Listen. My horse came in. **** Microsoft. I haven't liked them since the days of Vista. I was hipster about not liking them and feel no shame or pity for them now. But let's be clear about this. I was always a brand-loyal zombie. My brand just wound up being better, that's all.
Thank you both for the sources. I couldn't do any searching myself while at work yesterday. That's good news! I'm still not purchasing a One/4, but that's good news for the folks that are.
At least there is external support planned for the non-upgradable One. But I wonder what capacity the One recognizes for the external drives? If memory serves, the 360 could only recognize and utilize up to 32GB regardless of the drive's actual capacity. I hope that isn't the case with the Xbox One's operating system(s).
Honestly I worried the Xbox One would treat external storage like it did this generation on the Xbox 360---i.e. properly-formatted thumb drives or limited-capacity USB storage with restrictions on what files could be saved where. (I lost all of my Oblivion and Mass Effect 1/2 data because they stubbornly refused to copy to a thumb drive. That might have been a publisher restriction, though.)
When it comes to popular consumer technology, I am not a brand-loyal zombie. I'm much more of a brand-apathetic mercenary. Incidentally I have Square-Enix to thank for that. Before Square inserted the hyphen-Enix I was a blindly-loyal geek! How things change. But I think it was a change for the better. I no longer hobble around the PS4 games section in Best Buy, salivating over Square-Enix games like they're fresh, untainted flesh ready to be eaten.

"Square lost me at Enix." (Who made the poll with that option? That was clever. They should get a rep point for that one. Though I don't remember the thread either...)
I try not to be brand loyal, because all of these companies do stupid shit that turns me off/are companies and obviously in it for the money as such, but there's clearly a special place in my heart for Nintendo. Can't help it. They STILL make the best games... that aren't made by Bethesda. Anyhoo...

Thoughts? I'm posting this here because it's somewhat relevant. Moreso Future of Microsoft. xP
I think this was a **** move on MS's part. Why would someone even have an idea to do such a thing? I guess any publicity is good publicity, because we're still talking about MS, but.. overall it's just a mean thing to do and isn't making them any better in people's eyes.
If those reports are true, it's definitely a **** move. I would not put it past individual employees following orders, though. You'd think Microsoft employees across the globe would have gotten the memo about all the bad press as of late. Maybe not, though. Maybe these guys didn't get the memo. Could you imagine the meeting they might be having today?
"Hey guys, what's happening? Uhhh.... We have sort of a problem here. Yeah. You guys were acting like dicks only days after all of our bad press."
"We're sorry about that. We, uh... we forgot."
"Yeah.... You see, we're putting the kibosh on all bad PR decisions now before they go viral. Did you see the memo about this?"
"Yeah. We have the memo right here. We just forgot."
"Yeeeaaahhh. If you could just go ahead and do that from now on, that would be great. Mmmkay?"
Probably not. They probably got raises.
EDIT: So **** is censored but not dicks. Strange. What about dickless?
EDIT2: Nope.
EDIT3: The comments on that first article are pretty funny.

The 360 is only USB 2.0 support though right?
With this next generation being 3.0 and the downloads and installation of game I see the capacity being much greater. I do still see that you have to format the device, but with the capability of larger drives I don't see that being a huge problem.
