Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

I notice in chat rooms and stuff there's people who talk with words I never even heard , also they put a period after every line to sound better I think
Also this girl said she has sex with different guys every week and is on the deans list

    Makes me wanna gut myself

Why does she get to be gorgeous and smart and I am average at everything and can't finish college cuz I get mental breakdowns
I just can't keep it together for a whole semester, I came so close this semester, but with few weeks left I broke down and lost everything
    its not fair!!!!

Why do you even care, I usually ignore people who are self proclaimed cool, in other words full of themselves. Judging by your opening post it seems you're kinda jealous.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

your threads are bringing me down

I can't decide whether you are taking the piss or you actually do think the whole world is out to get you and people that have it better than you, owe you one

If you're not actually taking the piss, the first and only thing you can do is get a grip and accept that the only person that can help you is yourself otherwise no matter how much councilling you might have will just fall on deaf ears because your more interested in having a competion with the world about how much more worse your life is than everyone elses.

Sure I can accept you might have massive debt, but who, these days doesnt? Are you even trying to do anythimg about it? Or are you just whining about it?

I give people like you a wide berth because you just ooze negativity - if you tried even faking positivity around other people, you might find you start getting a better reception

And even people who have it good, have problems

You should help other people. Get out of your head and help others. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen. Be a volunteer firefighter. Work at a charity store. Join St Vincent de Paul.

Honestly, there are people who have it worse than you, and helping them out will make you feel awesome, as well as them.

    Thanks that helps a bit
Its true, even though all my friends will have awesome jobs and hot wives, God loves me more cuz he knows how hard my life is

I guess in a way its good, maybe in heaven my life will be better than all the hot girls that get straight As and become lawyers

Cuz they don't know what its like to suffer

But tbh I just wanna die, I'm exhausted.

Don't off yourself, that's what a coward would do. You're not a coward. Think about how useful YOU could be to other people who are suffering. You're in pain; we get it, you've made it clear. You've got to turn that into inspiration, not despair.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

For the original question, I prefer it when people type properly on the internet because it makes it easier to understand but I don't think it's a big deal if people don't always use correct grammar and spelling, etc. It's not really the end of the world if someone doesn't. When I talk to my best friend on the computer we usually don't bother to type properly at all. It looks like a spastic seal decided to slap our keyboards yet strangely we both still understand each other, haha. But when I'm talking on here or on Facebook, etc I try to type properly so other people can actually read it. I don't think typing properly makes you stuck up, either... if anything it's just more considerate towards other people I think.

As for your personal problems, I think you need to just get out of your head somehow. And by that I mean stop dwelling in all your problems and do something you enjoy to take your mind off of everything. I know it sounds hard but it really helps. If you're constantly thinking about it and being so negative then you'll just keep spiralling downward. When I'm sad I paint or sing. Maybe you could find yourself a hobby of some sort to help you in the same way those things help me. You said gaming used to help you, maybe you just need to find a new game that will help you once again. Also, you said you were expelled and went to prison. Maybe that's where you need to start. Think about where you went wrong and why you did it and how you can change that part of you for the better. Obviously I don't know what you did nor am I asking so I can't really suggest ways of changing to you.

Best of luck to you, hope things pick up.

Alpha, you could be a motivational speaker.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

I too prefer it when people type properly, but I don't think any more or any less of people who don't. I might cringe when reading a few poorly put together posts or messages, but otherwise I'm not bothered. It just makes it easier for me to read and understand if someone took that extra time to type a full word or sentence out, or use proper grammar. I also tend to learn more from those people, ways to improve my own spelling, grammar and structures. If you look back on some of my very first posts to the forum, you can see how I've improved. But all in all, it's just more considerate and makes for a nicer place to hang out. If I wanted to read and type like how most people do in text messages, I'd get a phone contract and text people more often for fun, or look down my wall on Facebook.

Also, I don't know how you calculated that people who type "properly" get more sex. Completely untrue. Even so, so the hell what? They probably get more sex because they're in a relationship or put themselves about. It has nothing to do with how they type. I bet half the couples you know don't even know how their better half types outside of an instant messages service.

Obviously, it helps sometimes when you can type "properly". If you're at school or college, a teacher might not even bother to mark your work unless it has some form of structure and is easy on the eyes. So it's good to at least try and type better, and you're in a good place to practice. I think I learnt more about spelling, grammar and structure on these forums in two years than I did in the twelve years I was in lower education.

You keep putting yourself down, and that worries me. Life isn't going to be easy, and you're still young I'm gathering. You don't need a hot girlfriend to get by. You do need a job though, and it doesn't sound like you're trying to get one yet. Do yourself a favour and look - looking will help take your mind off things, and when you do have one, you'll have some money to enjoy and pay back your bills with. Take up some volunteer work as Alpha suggested too and put what you find and do on your resume/CV. It counts as experience, and shows you to be an honest and caring person.

Also, you're a man of God? God wouldn't want you to give up so easily, and looks down on suicide. That's a cowards way out of something that can be easily sorted out if you latched on to your circumstances instead of running away from them. I'd like to think you're not a coward. You just need a kick in the right direction. There's people you can talk to about where to go and what to do next, usually at a school or college, so maybe you should try there? Ask your parents and friends if they need any help with anything, of if they know of any jobs available.

As for your bills... they'll always be there until you find a way to pay them back. Most people have their student loans and medical bills well into their lives, and they still wake up in the morning and do what they have to do with a carefree smile on their faces.

You're a lot better than you're making yourself out to be. I wish you the best of luck, but you need to take that step forwards to actually achieving something. We can only offer advice.

The first thing is admitting to yourself that life is hard and not just for you.You mentioned a person before saying how easy she had it and it obviously made you jealous. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon up their arse, just remember there are many in your situation and even more who are worse off.

You want the easy life? You gotta work hard for it.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

I use fancy words and proper punctuation because I like it. Care to venture a guess as to the last time I was laid? This side of never.

If you're honestly considering offing yourself, take advantage of your own destructive ideals. You're free, you know. Do you have a family? If not, then do something few people have ever done. Go somewhere like Africa to help children personally instead of liking a Facebook page, change your identity and start a family in Cambodia, become a drug kingpin, anything! If you really, truly see your life as something you can part with, then you've got no boundaries. The sky is your limit.

Or, if you're just feeling down, like the others have been saying, think of other people and how much worse they have it. Ignore those who "have it all."

tl;dr Don't off yourself, guy. You've got one shot on this little ball of rock, why not make it count?

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

To answer the question in the title of this thread, no I don't feel sad when people online use "fancy words". In fact, I use proper grammar and spelling 98% of the time online and 97% in real life. And that's if I am talking to someone in English. I don't do it to make people feel bad or inferior. It is just what I do. If I wanted to make someone feel bad, I will correct the person. Otherwise, I let it slide. I can't speak for other people. They may do it to make people feel bad, but again, I am not one of those people.

The only time you should worry about something I say is when I say something in another language. If I like you, I will speak in your preferred language or translate if something slips out. If not, well I can't make any promises. I speak three languages, so I know three versions of the same bad words (not that I'd use them). You just may not what I'm saying.

My advice for anyone talking with someone wearing fancy pants is to let their words roll off your back. Or treat it as a learning experience. You may realize you have been saying something wrong your whole life.

My language pet peeve is when people use double negatives, double comparatives, or double superlatives. "More better" is one I hear all the time. And don't get me started about the word "ain't". I hate that word. It makes my stomach turn when I hear it.

Don't pray for an easy life. Pray for a strong spirit.

Resenting other people because they're living their lives without deference to how depressed you are is self-absorbed at best. At worst, it's a way to make sure you're never happy, and the only thing that soothes the sores on your pitiful soul is dragging other people down to where you are. Whether it's through getting negative attention on the internet, or making one of those "hot girls" with straight As learn what suffering really is, it's a waste of your time here on this earth.

Alpha is right. Help other people. Get out of your head. You won't find a purpose or fulfillment trying to get strangers to feel sorry for you.

    First world problems.

Realize that there are millions of people in the world right now that would kill to be in your shoes, living your life. Make the most of it. The only constant we have is ourselves. You got to build yourself up before others will build you up.

Now go out there and get it. The world is yours, but it won't hand itself over to you.

theres always someone better, smarter, luckier, and even better looking(yes i know THATS hard to believe) than me..

eh,, different approach i sound retarded

look, check it out chik.. this is your world, and its not about what other people have or do, its about you. how you take advantage of all the things you have control over especially and starting with your emotions (first), and then your reaction (second). ull grow some security balls
    for example:
instead of being sad then getting jealous

try being happy that you jus learned something on the down low, and then appy it for yourself..
ok keep on, its all shits n giggles until sombody giggles n shits....

    You make your own choices.
Your breakdowns in college are either clinical, or endulgence of the feeling of anxiety.

Bleieve it or not, it is possible to drive yourself crazy.
Theres a lot of good advice in this thread and nobody wants you to do anything destructive.

My advice is stop being afraid.
Go to the soup kitchen and ask if you can help.
Go to the gym and openly look lame while you figure out how equipment works.
Say whats on your mind to people, even if its weird.
At worst, you'll be called the strange person, but who isn't?

Look at yourself in the mirror and see the things you like,
Then look at the things you don't like, inside and out and vow to change them for the better.

I have done all of these things.

I was the lame, weak, dumb loser once.
That person is a memory now that drives me forward.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

First off, if you're exhausted, go to sleep. That doesn't require killing yourself. Who cares if you screw up during a semester of college. That doesn't make you an idiot. I've screwed up plenty of times. If you fall, pick yourself up and make yourself stronger. Killing yourself is selfish. You don't want to do that.

The way I figure, people have destinies, and sometimes, life gives you clues as to what that destiny is. Perhaps any nervous breakdowns causing you to screw up in school is just destiny's way of telling you that that's not where you're supposed to be. Find your path, and you'll be set for life.

Anyway, pertaining to the question, I do not feel sad when people use fancy words over the internet, because deep in my heart, I know that they looked them up to give the appearance of higher intelligence. People are naturally stupid. If somebody sounds smart, he/she is manipulating you.

Re: Do you feel sad when people online use fancy words?

Not to be rude or anything just trying to help you out on this but have you seen a doctor ? You may have Depression. Feeling sad, feeling like you want to die, self loathing is all pointing towards this.

I'm not the best at grammar or spelling but I always try my best and look up words if feel like the whole post is just one big mess. It may be a Forum but effort counts. I guess.

Not saying that you don't have effort but trying counts. If you feel like your grammar or spelling needs improvement then grab a piece of paper offline and scribble down some words that you think you need to learn and spend some time learning them.

I feel like I should do this too.

everyone gets down sometimes. you aren't alone, you really aren't!
and i know you're probably thinking now, "yeah right, whatever. you don't know me, you don't know what i have to go through, you're one of those 'Normal' people who don't know anything about suffering"
well, i might not know you, but i know depression and i know suicide. sometimes you just need to stop and take care of yourself.
if you're feeling down, just call a good friend or do something you really enjoy, something you feel like you haven't had time for lately. and trust me, you'll feel a little better.
if you find yourself falling into suicidal thoughts, call this number: 1-800-273-8255 it's the suicide prevention hotline. things will get better, I promise

I've always followed the general rule of "if you can't spell it or don't know what it means, don't say it"
