I think there's a huge difference between a food addiction and a more real problem like nicotine or alcohol addiction. I'm not defending any of these scenarios, but I tend to feel far worse for the person who had half their face removed because they dipped their whole life, as opposed to the person who eats 12k calories a day and has to use the double wide scooter.

Not that I'm saying either lifestyle is good, because they're both incredibly bad for you. Obesity is just more easily reversible and while you can do a ton of damage to yourself, I don't think it's as bad as what can happen through a real addiction
