I am insulted that there is a communist group on TFF and I wasn't invited. Utterly insulted.

I haven't completed my degree in it just get, two more years and I'll have my Masters. I'm not doing for anything even vaguely IR related - it's difficult to get a job in politics off the back of it, and if you stay in the academic circle with it you're in for a lifetime of endless bickering and pointlessness. I'm doing it because I want to be a journalist (my postgrad will be investigative journalism) but rather than jump feet first into news like a lot of people do, I decided I'd need to actually have studied the world before I can think about writing about it. Hence IR and a foriegn language.

It's a fascinating subject to study, but prepare yourself for the theory - it drove me up the WALL. Basically IR as an academic discipline is composed of several prominent theories, all of which have glaring holes in them. Because IR people tend to be overly political, they won't drop the bullshit and work together to reach a common theory that doesn't have any holes in it.

It's really worth studying though.
