A friend and fellow student of mine has no trouble whatsoever to reach word count. If anything, he goes over it. Whereas I look at my word count at the end of my clonclusion and go: Aww, man...

Poetry = text written in verses.

Man those are the questions you see in the first class of General Literary Science. I like thinking about those things. But most of the time, it's so much simpler than you think.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm quite happy about the way I write.

I could share some of my poems with you, but they're in Dutch so...

Anyway, that definition for literature wasn't even mine. I'll see if I can find from who it is. But I love it. They asked the guy what literature is. And he replied just that. Awesome.

That school seems to be a nice place. Somehow now I can understand where your mentality for religion comes from. And your knowledge. Also, it's great that your grandfather was one of the first pupils there. I'd be proud to follow in his footsteps.

Changing your opinion is something that's very very difficult. Most of the people have their opinion and won't change it even if you gave them good arguments as to WHY they have to change it. I've read some of the postings in ID and there was nothing yet that would've changed my opinion. For me it's more important to think about what was written. Most of the postings there are very thoughtful. ^^

I just read your journal and... damn, I understand you so perfectly. .,." I don't plan on leaving TFF, but an other forum. I know how you feel. You feel as if you've wasted time and as if you've been insulted all the way by the members. So now I can finally give you some help: Think about it and do what's best for you. If you're, for example, angry every day because you came here, I'd leave. It's better this way. Something like a forum isn't worth being angry. :/

Doesn't seem to be bad, I mean the fact that he wants to stay with his family. =) We don't go to church, but my father also once went with us on Easter. He didn't like the church, but at least he's seen something other than his church.

But I wouldn't dare to insult my father because of religion. Somehow he's not very interested in religion, so there were no problems. And to be honest: We don't talk about religion in my family. It's just there, no need to talk about it. (Okay, but I also have to say that nobody is really into religion in my family ^^") Sometimes I discuss about it with my mother, but it's rare.
Is religion a strong point of discussion in your family? oo

I didn't say everything that is beautiful is art.

SSDD; you would think I would be able to find a common pattern and twist the day to suit what I want, but eh. It's more interesting this way. :-) good luck on your essay.

How can something be beautiful because it is a commercial? O_o

Haha, that's interesting. I think it's normal that your mother teaches you about religion. Somehow it seems to be normal, at least. I haven't heard of someone yet who was taught by his/her father about religious stuff.
Did your father at least tell you something about the Protestants? =)

No they are not artists. They don't make art.
They make advertisements, which makes them advertisers.

You don't become a painter because you'll earn money with it. You might as well get another job... And not nearly everything that is sold as art IS considered art by people who know something about it.

Real art is meant to be art. There has to be some passion in it. Some pride about one's work.

Scribbling their name is not art. But it really depends on a lot of factors. Basically, people will look at anything twice and start thinking of something as art if it's put in a museum. People are funny that way.

And advertising is not art at all. Its purpose is purely economic.

What do you mean with advertising being art?

And graffiti... I guess it depends. If the person painting it was serious about making something beautiful. Or making a statement, thus making it beautiful in a social/political way.

Art is man's endless effort to try and copy mother nature's beauty.
Or more in general: Art is that which is, for whatever reason, beautiful.

Literature is that which is written.

Music is that which is pleasant to hear.
