    I'm happy to assist too. I have no solid plans this summer just yet, and nothing else going on, and I'm always logged in here, so I might as well. ^^;

    Pre-existing worlds are good like that. I remember reading an RP somewhere set in the Elder Scrolls world, which was interesting, and from the pages I read, followed names of people/towns/cities/places/etc very well. However, I guess with RPs like that, you'd need to have some sort of knowledge of the world anyway - to a person new to the world, it may as well be an original.

    Original ones are alright too. It's nice to see some creativity. However, with those, I like to see a more... free RP. That doesn't involve God modes. Ugh.

    Also, seeing as we're on the subject of RPing... what happened to the TOA? I must have been somewhere or something since the '08 one... that was fun. ^^;

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    Loco can provide his reasoning, since he has been running TOA for a while. But I think the reason was that the last TOA ended up collapsing under zero activity about halfway through the tournament. So I think Loco took it as a sign that the interest was not there anymore. So he has not been holding them anymore.

    I'm pretty sure the original RPs don't have god modding going on. If they do it needs to be reported, but god modding should not be happening. Though do understand that god modding has a different definition in the RP Forums when compared to the RPB Forum's definition of the same word.

    Correct. Until legitimate activity in the RPB forum picks up, I have no reason nor desire to attempt to hold another tournament that will just fall apart near the end like the last three did.

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    Another suggestion that you may or may not wish to consider, I've ignored several of my own forum's rules for the sake of RPing. Like I'll allow a dead thread revival, or a double post to spark activity here and there. Obviously I still keep limits on it, otherwise it'd be absolute chaos... but I will occasionally allow certain rules to be overlooked if there's a decent reason to do so. That was more of a last resort kinda thing, the situation here doesn't seem to be that desperate yet, so this is probably totally unnescessary for the time being.

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    I already allow both of those things. Double posting to revive activity is something that I'm fine with unless it is quite clear that it is dead, meaning all of the other RPs officially signed off from it. But if people are just being a little absentminded or whatever, double posting for a bump is fine. Doing it after like three days, no. Doing it after like two weeks, sure I'm not going to say anything.

    Reviving old RPs and Necroposting though are two different things. Which does require some research on what happened to the RP. It also has two different approaches. If you notice it's dead and want to try to re-start it, you'll need to post stating your intention. If you're just posting wanting to join where there has clearly been no one else for 6 months or a year that's just going to be necroposting, because you aren't stating your intention to revive it personally. You are saying you want to join something which has no one running or guiding it.

    It's a lot to do with the approach you take.

    Good to know, alot of forums I've been on have staff with no imagination who just impose the rules absolutely, situation be damned. Kind of annoying really <.<

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    I'm posting here to let you know that I've put into action the things we've been talking about. I also made some additional changes. So please provide feedback on how you like or dislike the changes. I will continue to work to improving the Roleplaying situation.

    The changes I made are:

    Added the Freeform Role-playing Forum
    Added the General Role-play Discussion Forum
    Moved Role-Playing Forum under General Role-play Discussion Forum
    Moved Role-Play Battles Forum under General Role-play Discussion Forum
    Moved RP OOC Forum under General Role-play Discussion Forum
    Opened RP OOC Forum for all Role-play Forums

    Hopefully this will all help to improve things.

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    The problem with a registry is the same problem as other sign-up sheets. Lot's of people sign up but hardly anyone shows up. If you want a registry of people, they need to be dropped if they are inactive after so long. Perhaps not delete their post, but at least mark it in big red letters "INACTIVE" or something.

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    This is true Merlin. Though the registry is meant more to just be a listing of the RPers. I could probably work in something that is not as detracting as inactive. Saying inactive is accurate, but part of the hope is that those inactive people may get poked or called or something changing their inactive to active. But I would imagine if someone just saw inactive they more often than not would just end up ignoring them. And getting ignored is not really helping them.

    It's an idea so it is completely open to suggestions on how to present it.

    Re: TFF and Roleplaying

    How about "probably won't last 3 posts". Oh sorry, I guess that isn't too helpful. But it is accurate.

    I might focus on creating a story thread before I move into RPing again. I haven't been writing in ages.
