    I had loads of nightmares involving fire when I was a kid. I still have them sometimes. I stemmed from the hate of seeing my parents lighting the fire in the lounge - the fire would just shoot up from nowhere in the hearth, and the sound and sight would frighten me. I've had dreams of my house, favourite belongings, and friends and family going up in flames, and I always awake sobbing.

    Weird, because now I like playing with fire lol. >>;

    Well that doesnt seem weird at all once I thought about it. Your lack of understanding about fire and its element only allowed you to see its destructive side. Now you understand it more you recognize its usefullness and its no longer something that frightens you.

    one thing I didnt understand.

    why were your parents lighting a fire in the lounge?

    Everyone else thought it was weird lol. My brother loved sitting by the fire when he was that age, and I wouldn't go near it. I always thought the room would explode, haha. It was the cause of many a sleepless night.

    We have a gas fire in our lounge. Like a fireplace? Not as fancy or lovely as a hearth, but it does the same thing.

    Our one is old. When I was a kid, we had a different one which didn't have a constant "pilot light", so we had to release the gas and then light a match into it.
