I'm old because I'm 20 and not a ****wit
So yesterday at work, I was walking through the hallway to the next room I was going to clean, when two girls came walking towards me. I immediately felt annoyance, because it was in the evening, and they weren't supposed to be down where I was anymore (on most days, they aren't even supposed to be in the school anymore.) But I didn't want to deal with them, so I just ignored them. "Hi!" one of them said. "Hello," I grunted. "I like your hair!" "Thanks." After I walked into the room I was gonna clean, I realized how grumpy I sounded, repeated it to myself, and laughed at myself. Either I am becoming a grumpy old man, or just a disgruntled janitor.
But yeah; I remember the question raised in another thread. "Why are some of you so old?" For me, it's because I've delt with a lot of stupid and obnoxious people over the course of the past three years. Plus, quite a few of my friends recently decided they were going to start acting all grown up and mature, and be offended by things they weren't not so long ago... but yeah. Life has happened. I've been in various situations that have jaded me to various degrees. Recently, I've decided to speak out more against the things that piss me off.
How about you? Why are you so old? (If you're a teenager still, and still in highschool... you're probably not old. Sorry, I guess...?) Anyhoo...

Hard life, had to grow up fast. Plus being in a boss position for many years has made me even more of an ass. The old term "robbed of your childhood" applies greatly to me because I had an ass of a step father who beleived that raising children should be done through force and no fun could be had.
Also having a kid and a wife ages one rather quickly. I have grown up so fast because of it, then again being just a few years shy of 30 I should of already been grown up by now???

I tried to grow up fast... recently realized it's not a fun way to live. I'm trying to live a bit more carefree of a life, considering I'm only 22.
Been working in restaurants since I was 18, and it's a stressful industry.
Once I became a back-of-the house person, around 19... the stress started wearing on me. By 20 I was a complete asshole, by 21 and frequent alcohol use I was a bigger asshole than I'd ever been in my life. Not while drunk, mind you, but the hangovers + stress.
The phrases "Shut the **** up." "**** off." "Get ****ed" and "Go **** yourself" were staples in my vocabulary on a daily basis.
I still rant a lot to friends about restaurants... and my rants are generally angry.
A couple of my friends get a kick out of it... I'm a bigger **** than most cooks, and a lot find it humorous because I've only been doing it for ~4 years.
I've been said to sound like a winy old fellow by a friend lately. Must be because I really had enough of all the stories I'd hear of people getting beat up at parties in my city, even more so than in my time. It's always fridays, when the young people (meaning not the college students, cause they're off to home in weekends, except for me, cause I live in the city) go party. I could go into detail but then I'd be wining again. Seriously.
Same for the music "these kids these days" listen to. The gap between main stream and good original music has never been bigger. I don't see how young people can buy (not literally, although literally too...) those same formulas being used over and over again.
Sure once in a while there's this really catchy tune, that's actually good because it's catchy and all, great at parties. You always need music that everyone knows. But people who listen to the commercial shite they (wrongfully!) call R&B dare to say that "it's not all the same"...
But when you say you listen to guitar music Ho-Ho, they think they know what you listen to, cause "it all sounds the same". No it doesn't, you little fukcers don't know shit about what I mean by "guitar music".
There, that's of my chest (again -_-).
Yes, I tend to be a grumpy old man, but not by rule or anything. As a Literature Science student it's kind of logical that I'm not conservative in my political views I guess. After all, when you study Liberal Arts, you're supposed to be open to change.
Literature has brought lots of change/rebellion in that area.
EDIT: Don't think I hate R&B (present day use of the term) or anything! It's not my taste, but I can appreciate hiphop and stuff like that, cause they tend to be somewhat original.

Crao Porr Cock8: Getting it while the getting's good
Yes, I feel the same! Although tecnically its another 7 weeks until i'm 20. People tend to think i'm older than I am because I don't neck down 25 blue WKDs and fight with a lamp post, and the fact that i'm much more well-spoken than the majority of today's youth. I frown upon these imberciles a lot, call them children even if they may be older than me.
Although 20 isn't old, I still feel like my teenage years have just flashed and gone. I tend to have immature relapses though, which come in forms of reliving my childhood by going down the park with friends or climbing a tree. I tend to feel old if i'm talking about something and someone only a couple of years younger will not know what I am talking about. Also I complain about "the kids" like a grumpy old lady. Even watching the BBC show Grumpy Old Men, I agree and laugh about half of the things they moan about, technology being one of the few that I'm ok with.

When the occasion calls for it I can behave much older than my years. I've always been a tad different from the rest of the people in my age group. So that in turn has caused 'problems'. Because I was more old-fashioned and unique ( you know not willing to follow the crowd with smoking, 'excessive' drinking until you pass out, wearing questionable outfits ) there was a phase in my life where I was bullied. After that I became very hard with myself, and decided that I had follow my own path no matter how hard it got. We're not in highschool forever x3
Mmm.. I also find myself saying things like "When I was younger".. Which is so odd.. because I'm not that 'old'... And when I witness younger people than I doing reckless or stupid things I 99% of the time find myself wittering on about how silly it is etc.
But I also have a very young side too x3 You just have to find the balance I guess :3

Im 22, but I don't think I'm old, I just feel old, like Meier said, kids take it out it out of you and really makes you grow up quicker. Matt is often saying how I'm not as fun as I used to be, but I'm too tired or busy or stressed to be fun now so that makes me feel old aswell.

I was a grumpy old woman when I was in 7th grade! lol
Ever since then I didn't like kids my age or kids younger than me. I'm one of those people who go "GIT OFF MAH LAWN YA WHIPPERSNAPPERS!"
I'm a bit bitter, but I don't think it's really a sign of growth. I'm sort of immature really. I think I'd be a lot more grumpy if I didn't make a concerted effort to not just go through the motions. Though maybe it's the fact that I have to put out that effort at all that makes me grumpy... Sucks.
I think resigning yourself to "just living" can really make you jaded though. The people who are "living it up" are probably more happy overall. Whether that shows up at posts on TFF or internet activity in general is a completely different story.

In the mornings i am most grumpy i am not a morning person and the same goes of a night time if i am tired, but generally i am not too grumpy unless someone pushes the right button and i get a bit testy and my annoyance with that person i unintentionally direct it at other people. Crao Porr Cock8, Go and get a Cock8 up ya.
The finer details of a signature:
I'm fairly mature and practical, I'd say, for the most part. For my age. But come on, I'm 21. I'm still very youthful, and I have a lot of idealism to go along with it. I am ever optimistic, and while I'm known to go on swearing tirades, they're usually for humor's sake. Things work out. I've never actually been depressed about my life. But then, I've never really been through any more trauma than anyone else. Friends have died, loves have been lost, I've been put down, and other friends have turned out to be backstabbing ****heads. But we press on.
I guess I'm "old" because I know my shit really isn't any worse than anyone else's, but I understand that it's all relative anyway, and you deal with what you have to deal with.
Curious?

I'm not feeling it, guys. I'm just as fresh, depressing and pensive as I'll always be... As far as old, I'm one of those rare types that, either I've always been old, or I never will be...
Being realistic, some people were never meant to grow old...and probably never will. I see myself as that type. And mainly because I don't have a talent for it, which is sad in it's own way. I've never found a successful way of becoming old. We'll see, though.
