I had (the impression that I potentially had) an invitation to join CPC8. But I didn't want to because of the impression I had of it.

I don't think it's full of malicious trolls, or that it encourages that. But I just don't like groups that set themselves apart from the main forum, as "the best parts" of the forum. Seems too secretive, and too elitist.

I did join PRK9. But I also joined that with the intention of never really participating, and nothing really happens in it anyway. I also joined it as a self-jibe at my feminism.

Where's the trolling in this thread? The whole reason this thread came about was a response to a response for something I alone did. And look, scroll back a page or two, and you'll see that there's an apology for what was said, because it was over the line, and all that drama was more or less squashed.

I'm truly curious to know who all of these people are that we've scared off, because I'm just not seeing it. I've never heard anything from mods or anyone in charge who have told us specifically to play nicer because we're forcing people to leave, because their internet experience was that terrible. The only times the mods have stepped in was when it was appropriate, and that has nothing to do with chasing anyone away.

But way to try to play up to the public image with the whole "that makes them better people than me," with the whole idea that you're just going to stick it out and fight the good fight because CPC8 is a horrible monster and just needs to be put out of it's misery.

Since this thread is a "general feeling" of the group CPC8 I decided I would voice my opinion that I feel is different than what has been represented so far. Admittedly I cannot list all the members of CPC8, but to my knowledge of known members, I have not had any serious or trivial problems with any of them. I have read about some incident involving members of CPC8 that has caused a rift in the stability of TFF, though I have never actually seen what went down. Regardless of that I find CPC8 members to be a close-knit group that has provided me a few good laughs in their occasional comedic posts & that they are not harsh, but fair & reasonable even if some or one [Pete] is straightforward. Which is not a bad trait to begin with.

I was not around when this group came to life and when I did arrive, it was during the period where certain members were behaving badly and Meier was spending all his time putting out fires. With that in mind, from my perspective, I think a good portion of the CPC8 stigma could be the result of poor product advertising. If someone sees a troll post followed by a sig saying "CPC8 is better than you", it sends a bad message. In fact the "SOLDIER sucks" sigs aren't helping either. Overall, your advertising as a whole is sending mixed messages about your group.

For example, if you are a group of respectable people trying to make TFF a better place, then that is what you should advertise. I should see sigs saying "CPC8: Putting Forum Etiquette First" or something. If on the other hand, you are a group of say obnoxious assclowns, for example, then I would like to see advertising such as "SOLDIER sucks, CPC8 is better. Get over it."

Which are you? I don't know. I just read all the bad product placements and wonder why a group that claims one things advertises something totally different.

Also "CPC8: Putting Forum Etiquette first" Is only part of what of what CPC8 is about and in my opinion that's far too formal for CPC8 so the advertising would be equally as misleading.

Most members find the Sig's playful or amusing right? I laugh at Ragna's sig most times i see it. So they are good/bad advertising depending on your frame of mind when you look at them.

They didn't leave through any direct action, but because this place went from one thing a few years back to something that can be seen in several places online. I've become apathetic to some degree as most members (and past members) I care for can (in some cases exclusively) only be reached through other means like MSN and facebook.

CPC8 is an amazing and wonderful thing, I think. It's very curious and yet I think I've seen it's like before. It seems that the group isn't responsible for it's members and to a degree I understand that. And yet it also seems to take it a little too far but always there is that fail-safe provision...the group isn't responsible for it's members.

All told, what do I see? A lack of responsibility floating around.

And if you're referring to Phantom, that wasn't CPC8 doing it's evil bidding, that was a whole mess of things beyond our spectrum. But, his constant playing the victim and inciting the same incendiary reaction to his loaded topics wasn't playing very fair. If I recall, you were automatically deemed a homophobe if you disagreed with anything he had to say, therefore discussions turned into name calling matches, as well as flame fests.

You also can't accuse CPC8 of causing members to leave in droves, even if due to our presence, and not direct actions as you put it. People have been joining and leaving this site for as long as I've been a member. It's how a board works; people move on, people join, people stay. It's all just a matter of preference. TFF is too small or too inactive for a lot of people. Believe it or not, but CPC8 is trying to help foster activity by making the boards more fun. Just because I make a few posts that perhaps I shouldn't have, is no reflection on CPC8 as a group, especially when said post was not even in CPC8, but rather in SOLDIER.

Oh, and believe me, I wasn't trying to bait anyone into saying or doing anything. I don't play mind games, I just call things as they are. Some people can't handle that. All I asked was that you give me your definition of "bro," since it was a name you were tossing around and applying to CPC8. You did that, and that's really the only thing I had wanted to know, seeing as I had asked previously, and was never answered.

And Sin, you've also failed to see something. The major issue that this is all stemming from was something that didn't have anything to do with CPC8. I made the post that really started this... in SOLDIER. SOLDIER and CPC8 are two complete and separate groups. Yes, some of the members may be the same, but that in no way means that the two are the same, much like the two colors. The incident at hand was between Toph, Gemma and myself, in a post made in SOLDIER. Once again, I said something that went a little bit too far, and apologized because I realized I was out of line and said a dick thing. I took responsibility for my action, was warned by the mods, and apologized publicly to show that I was sincere.
