    Re: Skyrim

This game has seriously sucked out my soul. Will go into more detail later (level 22 khajit bamf) but I have a question as I encountered a ps3 save glitch how do I go about fixing such a thing as I may want to make a new character in the near future...

    Re: Skyrim

If you're speaking of the save file bug where file sizes over 5mb run the risk of crashing then this is what I know.

As I understand the bug, the way the system in Skyrim works is that literally records the state and position of everything you interact with in the world. If something changes from the default then it writers that to the save file. So all of the doors you open and leave open are written, all of the objects you leave around your house are written. That sort of information adds up in a large game world.

So the best course to keep your file save down is to close doors and not leave any junk around. You'll probably want to keep as much as you can in chests, cabinets, etc to reduce things it has to keep track of. I would also guess that you probably want to limit the amount of npcs you kill since it would probably track that as well.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

    Re: Skyrim

I ws actually unaware of that one - I was referring to the one Unknown Entity mentioned (I think she was talking about the same thing) where I had created a new game to make a new character and my old file was erased how can I keep my old one and still make a new one?

I was going to play this game, then I took an arrow to the knee...

Skyrim does look like alot of fun, I would play it but I hear the PS3 version is buggy so I'm just going to wait it out until it becomes cheaper or just rent it somewhere. I'll keep my eye on it though.

They have patched the main quests as far as I know. Another patch should be out soon. The beta just hit the PC users.

I may just be lucky but I only had one glitch my entire game time on skyrim and that was installing it on my harddrive to my 360. Which causes some graphics to appear lo res, thank god it got patched

Excellent game, I can;t say anything about the PS3 version, but i know on the 360 most of the bugs have all been patched. Installing it to your 360 hard drive and running it from there fixes most bugs anyway. Don't know if PS# does that, have one just never use it.

Except the part where Skyrim is on a completely new and separate engine from the last Elder Scrolls and undeniably contains new features not present in the previous installment. This game has the complete fun.

    Re: Skyrim

I just killed my first dragon and I felt a little sad about it. Is there any chance of befriending a dragon and flying him around? I think that'd be awesome.

Anyway I'm taking it slowly, but I'm starting to enjoy it. Which I am very happy about I'm not as awesome at gaming as everyone else, so I have nothing interesting to say. I just wanted to talk about dragons.

    Re: Skyrim

I picked this game back up, and I've finally got my platinum for it (yay, lame party at mine guize!).

I encountered many different bugs and glitches throughout the time I've spent on it, but nothing more infuriating than running into the one when you can't become Thane of Solitude as the quest doesn't pop up in the quest journal after initiating the "help my people" quest conversation with Elisif. The save glitch wasn't that bad, even though I was pissed on the time I'd lost.

BUT that save glitch worked out well for me as I now have a very well made character at level fifty-three, got my stats in Smithing, Enchanting, Sneak, Speech, Light Armour to a hundred with Destruction, Restoration, One-Handed, Lockpicking and Archery close behind. I have pretty over-powered gear too as a result of some nice enchants, and I still have a few perk points left over to spend later. I'm also quite wealthy.

My save file tells me I've played for a few minutes under a hundred and thirty hours, and it takes up about 10MB. Around 6MB I noticed a little lag, especially in Whiterun of all places. But then a new patch came out, and it worked perfectly. Gameplay is way more smoother with the latest patch (PS3). The lag has completely gone, and the only bug I've had in the last thirty hours of gameplay was the one when getting the Skull of Corruption - when entering the fort, the guy you're with "teleports" to the final room without opening a passage for you (easily fixed with a save before you enter the fort).

Quite frankly, I'm impressed with the game. I stopped playing it when I hit a few inconvenient bugs and review sites went crazy with "Skyrim sucks because it doesn't work". Well... it does work and I have a lot of respect for Bethesda for trying to do their best to fix their mistakes.

Keep playing through the story quests and finish them, and you might be happy with what you get.

If not, there is a rumour "flying" around that you'll be able to ride a dragon in a future DLC. I doubt it'll happen, but one can wish. There's loads of awesome stuff hopefully coming into the DLCs, with more skill trees, etc.

I'm waiting for the GOTY edition to come out (I did the same with Oblivion) before I get my copy.

I guess in one of the DLCs, you will be able to learn to tame and ride a dragon.

As for the game, I love it. Nords have been my fav race and now I am back home, it is great. I made the typical melee toon, dual-wielding a one-handed weapon and magic. I like freezing enemies while swinging my mace down on them.

I like their videos, collegehumor makes some pretty funny things to watch.

After reading this thread again, I put the game back in last night, and realized that I need some DLCs to come out soon. Maxed out level, just need to farm some trophies, but really nothing left to do. My poor nord just sits there waiting to snipe off some necromancers next to his wife Aela the werewolf. Ugh, such a hard life...
