Ok no1 has posted a thread about this so i guess i'll be the one to do it.
Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been anounced and has a release date of 11/11/11.
This thread is for all talk about the game or for new information released about he game.
All i can say about this game is i hope they bring back spears and balence the leveling system so leveling up does not make you weaker in the long run.
Titles are merely a means to control those we fear

Josh it's been a pretty big hype as of late. 11/11/11 is the date they put for it. There is a teaser.

For Larick's "lvling makes you weaker in the long run." That is because the way the leveling works, you have balance every stat and skill out so pretty much you leveling most of your skills evenly. It's mainly for beating the game on the hardest difficulty.

Uh... wah? What time machine did you crawl into to play with the buttons? Everyone's been hyping over this since the VGAs.
I'm really looking forward to hearing more about this game. Ever since I finished Oblivion and it was announced that there was going to be Elder Scrolls V, I've been eagerly waiting more news.
One thing I loved about Oblivion was that it was huge. Morrowind was big too, but I played Oblivion more. I'm hoping for a bigger world to play in, with more things to do.
I think it'd be really cool as a role playing aspect to have companions as friends, and just hang out with them. Companions in Oblivion were really numb-headed fools, and they died so easily - so I never used them. I think it'd be funny to go drinking with a companion. Maybe add a relationship or trust option.
Another thing that'd be cool is full body customisation. I want to be able to adjust everything. In Oblivion, I made an "overweight" character who was still skinny and muscled when topless. When adjusting skin colour, parts of the body had different colours - hands, feet, legs, face, body weren't the same.
I would love if the game had more of the feel of Morrowind than Oblivion. A new engine wouldnt hurt either. Trailer didnt reveal too much but I guess I can trust Bethesda at this point to make a game worthy of the Elder Scrolls name.
Just dont repeat the Oblivion aspect of Oblivion with a new world or system as exploring Oblivion through the gates was both tedious and a chore. So yeah I would like to see a more dynamic world.

I hadn't heard about this, either... then again, I didn't pay attention to the VGA's at all, either. Pretty awesome, since I was just nosing around the Elder Scrolls forums and Bethesda's main site, trying to see if there was anything new on this game
That's awesome. I'm excited for this game. Fallout 3 and New Vegas were fun, but the Elder Scrolls are where it's at as far as I'm concerned. I will agree with smurphy's sentiments, however, in that going through Oblivion gates was a little tedious. I also hope there aren't a million and one invisible walls in this game like there were in New Vegas, because that's bs (not to mention a million and one bugs...) I also hope there are companions in this game like there were in Fallout 3 and New Vegas; more along the lines of the smart ones that were in NV.
Wonder if this will be a current gen game, and if it will be on both systems? Hopefully, as per I don't want to shell out the bucks to have to buy a 360... (I heard from somewhere that Microsoft bought Bethesda recently. That's why 360 gets the DLC and PS3 doesn't, initially.) Anyhoo...

I LOLed.
I'm excited, but at the same time concerned about this game. It's based in Skyrim, which I like - the Nordic island in Morrowind's second expansion was pretty cool - and they're using a new engine, which will give them the chance to make a product that isn't riddled with bugs, but on the other hand, this is Bethesda, so it will probably be riddled with bugs anyways. Mostly, I'm concerned that they simplify it the way they simplified Oblivion as compared to Morrowind. We'll see.
Oh and bring spears back. Seriously, wtf, why would you take spears away?
Until now!
You don't have to have watched the VGAs to know about the trailers. They've been hyped all over the place, even on youtube.
I didn't watch the VGAs...I didn't even know what the VGAs were till yesterday. I just so happen to know these kind of things.

Look I am not up on my current games, and upcoming games..lol
But you know I am a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls Series, so naturally I am pumped.. I despise teaser trailers.
"How could you not know about this? Have you been living under a rock?! It's EVERYWHERE on the internet! It's on the front page of MSN! There's a big ad in the newspaper! If you didn't know about this, you fail at life! Nyah nyah NYAH!!" Hey, SHUT UP, JERKFACES! You're lucky I decided not to respond to this this morning at 6 AM, when I was tired and grumpy, I'll tell you what, or else there would be hell to pay! (Actually, I still am tired and grumpy, just less so. Been on day shift this week, and it sucks )
My favorite part was that when I was read the main Elder Scrolls forum speculation thread, someone brought up that Bethesda had two announcements to make at the VGA's, and that this might be one of them. But a few other people shot it down, saying not to get their hopes up. Also, I didn't find any newer info on this than from like 2 or 3 years ago, around the time Fallout 3 came out (saying that there was likely to be an Elder Scrolls V.)
Yeah, what Jin said. Bring back the spears and other weapon classes and such. And how about levitation spells, too? I wanna fly all over the place again. Also, I hope there's some more alien landscapes and creatures like there were in Morrowind. Shivering Isles did that pretty well, although when I tried to play it, I couldn't find a quest item I needed to progress the game... for like the very first quest in it. Made me sad. Anyhoo...

Maaaaaaaaaan cannot wait.
Loved Oblivion to death and i know im going to love Skyrim.
The best games always seem to do just a few things stupidly imo. Oblivion had the gates (boring as hell), the scaled leveling. Mass Effect 2 had stupid inventory (cmon its an RPG and no inventory?!). Fable II + III just got depressingly simple button mashing.
But i just pray and hope to hell they make this game completely awesome.
I'm also excited for this! I loved Oblivion and Morrowind is good too. The teaser trailer doesn't give away much, obviously but it's making me look forward to it even more.
Hopefully the game isn't full of bugs and glitches this time round but oh well, either way I can't wait. HAHA and I hope you are able to create better looking characters, I had a rough time creating a nice looking character on the 360.. yeah, don't bother telling me to get the pc version because I'm not. You have to admit, the characters weren't the best looking lol. It was rather funny at times actually.
Yeah the characters did look pretty ugly in Oblivion, just way too wide faces or something.
But Fallout 3 made really big improvements in the series and then Las Vegas did it again so i imagine its going to be quite spectacular.
I loved everything in Oblivion and the open-ended feel of the game, I have put a good 90+ hours into that game and there is still plenty to do around the world. The landscapes were beautiful and I really enjoyed exploring the Shimmering Isles.
I look forward to playing the next chapter in this great series but that teaser really didn't tell me a lot. More to look forward to in future news releases I suppose. Still am excited about it.
Wanna Know More:
I actually made a rather handsome Nord (yeah, I know o.o) on the 360 version. But it was my brother's game, and he "accidentally" saved over it, conveniently after an argument. But yes, better looking characters all around. They're making a new engine, so hopefully we'll get what we want.
I'm excited for the game. I've spent probably somewhere around 1000 hours on the game. I've had many different characters so yeah.
The new one will be sexy, I can't wait to get my soul sucked into it.
I'm sort of proud for figuring out the invisibility trick without looking it up, so in a way i figured out a way to beat the game in a nutshell.
I have an obssesion for all things Elder Scrolls, I cant wait to play Skyrim. (and see what kind of mods i can put into the game.)
The cake is a lie!!!!!
I actually just read up on this tonight, and nothing really disappointed with the improvements. One major thing I am worried about is the whole saving the towns from the dragons (Which don't get me wrong sounds like Hella fun), but I just don't want it to become a repetitive quest like it was when you had to close the oblivion gates
Anyone else?

I'm actually really looking forward to it. The improvements (or some of them) sound really interesting, especially the one about the star systems reflecting on the skills of your character, meaning everyone will have different star systems. I like the sound of a more dynamic weather system too. I know, I'm sad, but I'm interested in the little perks the game will have. ^^;
I'm kind of hoping for a very large world (like, bigger than Oblivion) and a dragon mount. I doubt it'll happen though. Buut, I'm happy to wait until November. I'm getting this title regardless.
I'm can't wait to get my hands on new Elder Scrolls game, not much as Harry Partridge but I'm fairly excited as well. The biggest improvement for me is the leveling system, previous Elder Scrolls game had an interesting concept, though not really implemented well, thus game was noticeably harder on higher levels.
