    What should FF15 include?

I say a more believable cast. Well, more deined cast. I don't care about Hope, he doesn't have anything to do with the storyline... Nothing.
I he was gone, what would change?

I say a more nonlinear battle system. Same with story.

More summons. I don't get attached to osummons that are weak and only stay for several seconds. Make it hard to get 9,999 damage and just increase the difficulty of enemies. I say get rid of the restart option, made the game tooooo easy.

The female main characters never make me feel like I have enough power to finish anything, so I switched to Snow when I could.
More FF... just anything but 13...

Your pathetic existence will shut down. I will make your lives end in ruin. Fear me, as you fear death. Not a threat, not a promise, but what must be finished. 7 final arcs...

Um, for starters how about focusing on a great story. F*ck graphics and fiddling with the battle system. I feel like square keeps focusing on how to complicate and change up the battle system and graphics rather than taking the time to make a fantastic, understandable story.

Also start getting creative with the characters. Make the main character fat and dopey for a change rather than having the same cast in every game. Another idea would be instead of having random people meet along the way and just decide to follow, how about having peeps who already know each other or are part of some sort of group?

They already did that in FF8, it just took everyone 3 discs to figure it out.

    EDIT:

The female main characters never make me feel like I have enough power to finish anything, so I switched to Snow when I could.
lol what does that even mean? I felt like the girls of FF13 were way better characters then the guys were. That just sounds sexist rofl

Everybody knows that was just farted out of someone's ass druing the making to make it seem like every character played an important part in the story

EDIT: Another idea, how about using less party members? Why not go through the game using only 2 main members with banging abilities rather than having 7 or 8 you can never master all the abilities for without extra grinding. Then maybe have a few others controllable in battle during parts of the game? Kind of like in IX where you got to control Beatrix during the attack on Alexandria.

    Re: What should FF15 include?

Well, there's a lot I would like to see, but the two biggest things would be: 1.) being able to explore the world that's created (along with interacting with it's inhabitants), and 2.) perhaps bring back the character/party customization that XII offered. It doesn't have to be exactly like how it was in XII, but something similar would be great, imo.

    Re: What should FF15 include?

i think it should be like ffX in level design where you run through the game in story mode and then can go back to where ever you want with some form of airship (this was what i disliked about FF13), as for characters i found the ones in VII and X easily believable they all had the same sort of goals and were focused. also a reasonably long challenging game and please ignore the massive online stuff or extra add ons, nobody wants to pay lots of money each month to waste time online final fantasy just isn't the same as single player final fantasy
this is it the final boss now there is no turning back....

like every RPG, it should first and foremost include a good, solid storyline. and also *ducks to avoid the flying tomatos* i think it would be cool if they strayed away from the sci-fi-ish thing they've had going on lately. lets get back to the roots

It should definitely have different towns in it that are accessible in a classic Final Fantasy way thats something XIII seriously lacked a classic battle system would be nice too. main priorities would a be a kick-ass main character and an epic storyline

    Re: What should FF15 include?

I would welcome the return of learning spells like certain FFs did. As for the battle system, I would like to see a combo system like CT and reuse the ATB system.

What would also be nice are Geomancers and Espers that can transform into weapons sort of like how they transform into vehicles in XIII but different.

This comes to mind as well Weapon Combination System. Basically you can take one weapon and combine it with another to give it more strength, elemental properties, status attacks, and each weapon should contain a certain skill move for each character.

The one thing I would like to see is jobs. The last single player FF to use jobs was X, and even then you can make everyone eventually learn everything. I enjoyed FFXIII more when they all had three 'jobs' each, then it got to the point where it was just "oh screw, make them learn whatever you want".

A system like IX would be great, where you had one thief, one black mage, one dragoon etc. It makes the characters more unique.

    Re: What should FF15 include?

    One thing I liked about Final Fantasy XIII was the battle system. It was fast paced, to the point, and easy to use. If anyone found it that hard, Bob forbid they play Final Fantasy VIII - I still don't get it. >>;

THAT battle system I liked along with the ones in VII and XII, and I'd be happy for any of those to return.

I miss buying weapons from new stores. By the time you get to a certain store, you know which level weapon you're expected to have for the next couple of fights. I dislike upgrading weapons - it's a waste of time and Gil. I'd have saved a few million Gil and hundreds of resources in XIII if I could have just bought a damn weapon.

I didn't like the lack of interaction in XIII. I want to go into a village, with loads of people getting on with their day, and listen to their story. Screw having the stores in save points - I want a store! It's the difference between talking to a robot on the phone and pushing corresponding numbers to the thing you want to access, and talking to a human operator. Not that that makes sense... anyway, I want cities and towns full of character and life, and proper dungeons with puzzles and the like.

Loads of meaningful side quests and stories would be awesome too.

I don't like linear RPG games. I like wondering off the path and sticking my middle finger up to the main story for a few hours. I liked having an airship and a submarine in VII, and feeling like I could go anywhere when ever I wanted. I'd quite like the medieval themes to come back too, maybe. I don't mean the cliché "save the princess!" story line - that's been over done and used hundreds of times. A band of unlikely heroes, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, dragon slaying, a little romance along the way is a good starting point.

Oh, and for the love of Bob, I'd want to make Gil a whole lot more easier and faster than in XIII. Bring back obtaining Gil after each battle!

    Re: What should FF15 include?

What the above poster said pretty much.

Less linear path ways like FFX and FFXIII. Even though i do love FFX (i havnt played FFXIII yet) i much prefer the airship in VII VIII and IX. Its just what makes up final fantasy, that exploring the little towns and cities for that special materia or card or weapon and shit.

Also i do like the fantasy medieval side of FF more then i do the sci fi. And you dont always have to mix it up and make it steam punky and shit. FFT and FFIX had some of the best worlds and were so much fun (okay i know FFIX was heavy steampunk but you know what i mean).

Too bad FFXII was a bit lackluster :|
i love the ivalice world and fantasy side and stuff but it was just.... kinda... boring. played for 40 minutes and just quit it.

100% agree with you. I think freedom was the main problem in FFXIII.

    Re: What should FF15 include?

Freedom of exploration is one thing for me. I can understand cutting off access to an important area or two once you get to the end of the game... but only have access to three areas at the end of FFXIII? With two of them relatively small? Granted, Gran Pulse is huge and most of the marks are there, but still.

VILLAIN DEVELOPMENT!!! Jihl Nabaat was a perfectly good example of how NOT to develop villains. She barely appeared except in flashbacks and shortly in Chapter 8.
    SPOILER!!:
And she gets killed off in Chapter 9 without a boss fight. BS. Barthandelus wasn't a basket of villainous roses, either. He was just a crazy old man, who happens to be a Fal'cie, and wants nothing less than the total annihilation of Cocoon. ...Yawn? And Orphan is... well... It was probably a nice idea on paper.
Character interaction. Why do we have to be realistic, now? We've been breaking into people's homes and pilfering their crap for 20 years now. Why, now, do they have to wise up and kick us out?
    SPOILER!!:
Hell, even with the whole l'Cie thing, most people would never suspect you're one unless you blow up the city with Firaga spells or something.
Interaction was most definitely possible, even given the circumstances.

Lay off the sci-fi, seriously. This whole series' roots come from the most basic of medieval times; save the stupid princess. How that translates to "enemies of humanity who must save their world" is beyond me. Not that you have to just go back to complete medieval, but at least lay off with this futuristically boring crap.

Maybe the series should just dig its grave if the next game can't meet these conditions... >__<

    Re: What should FF15 include?

In a word, Lost Odyssey. That's what FF15 needs to do. Lost Odyssey has been the best Final Fantasy in years. As for specifics on what it SHOULD have, I' don't so much care. Some things you jsut know are going to be there, like Chocobos and certain abilities andcrap. Personally, I kinda like it when the basics are all they really have in common. This is not to say I like when they decide to completely reinvent the wheel and slap the FF label on it to attract consumers, I hate that beyond words. But I like when they go off and do something unique in terms of story. Like 7, huge change from all that came before it, though that change did kinda start with 6. then 8 was a great change, story was alot more complex and open to interpretation, I loved that. 9 was nice because it went back to the older games. It's good to revisit those old themes and good memories from time to time, as long a we aren't just rebuying the same game every few years. 10 I loved, story took an entirely different turn, they brought back something familiar like summons, bt took a whole new spin on it. They did alot right with 10 in terms of what they changed and what they left alone, alot of the newer games could've taken a lesson there.

What I DO know, is what FF15 should NOT have.
    • Bullcrap sci-fi garbage. Yeah, semi futuristic is fine, like 7 or 8 futuristic. Even 10's future (before sin came down and obliterated all the scifi) wouldn't have been TOO bad, but 13, that was waaaaaay too much scifi.
    • Online of any kind. No. Period. Learn from the first two failures, do't try it again. If you want to release an FF MMO< give it its own spinoff series like tactics or something, don't slap the numbered series' good name all over that pile of shit.
    • New systems, new systems everywhere! NO GOD DAMNIT. The same stuff worked for over a decade, why all of a sudden do you feel it isn't enough and needs to be changed? Have you guys not noticed yet that an overwhelming majoriy of the people who've been buying your games for the past decade have been perfectly OK with the same basic formula? There's a reason for this: The basic formula was GOOD. Quit trying to fix what isn't broken.

I remember a Game Informer interview with FF13's creators, there was a question posed about the ff13 formula. Game Informer pretty much asked how much more they were going change the formula leading into the future of the franchise. I don't remember the exact answer, but they basically said that they were going to continue to "re-innovate" the series. So i don't think it's looking to good for us that love the old formula.

    Re: What should FF15 include?

Hmmm...what would I want in Final Fantasy XV...

I think that they should do something similar to what FFIX did a.k.a. get back to the series roots. I like the new looks, the new systems and all that, but a good "back to basics" I think would really be nice. I haven't played FFXIII as I don't have a PS3, but I heard it goes pretty far off the Final Fantasy formula. Yep, a good "back to basics" would work very well.

Unfortunately I also remember reading that. I can only hope they decide to make Lost Odyssey into a series, at this point I think they have more of the original FF staff than FF does >.<

Actually, I would prefer a semi-futuristic world as in FF6-7-8 and maybe even ten.
I like towns. Why? Because they let me calm from the story. If the whole game is based on story progression, then I beat the game too fast, and end up not caring about the story...o.o
FF 13 I beat at around 55 hours in all, toooooo fast.
Real side quests, not just freakin hunts that show no importance... Actually, most of FF side-quests don't have their own story. I swear, my RPG game will knock FF away...

Your pathetic existence will shut down. I will make your lives end in ruin. Fear me, as you fear death. Not a threat, not a promise, but what must be finished. 7 final arcs...
