It can be a little crass at times, but I think if you're going to write about Yugioh it might be worth watching. It does a good job of pointing and being aware of many of the different key aspects of the show. While it is making fun of it, it is also knowledgeable about the subject. So it would probably give you some good insight. Plus, it manages to maintain the duels, but cut down the fat on them. Something that might help you in converting to prose.

Yeah, I've heard about most of them here and there. Though I've only follow the original Yugioh. I never really found the other series very interesting. You seen Yugioh the Abridged Series?

Yeah, sounds a lot like the Battle City Tournament and Awake the Dragon Arcs where there were three special cards superior to all others or at least unique enough to be powerful and in the hands of different people. But it is good to have them in different hands, otherwise your main character will be too powerful.

I only read the first two chapters. It follows pretty standard fair for fitting into the setup for Yugioh. There are some improbable luck with having the Aesir cards conveniently there. Probably would have been better if it was only one, especially since you only used one. It might have been better to make the whole thing more mystic in obtaining the card, like the Awake the Dragons Arc, they just magically appeared to them. However, it has the write feel and they all sound like they would in the show.

Well it seems you've gotten a clear view of what you want for your story now. So now you just need to make it happen.

It is certainly something you have to decide. It depends on what you want out of the story and what you feel is important. What you want the reader to get from it. Depending on which is more important you make your decision to fit your goal.

I feel that if you want to write a script it should be a script. You're missing all of the formatting for a script. Because you want to be both it ends up weakening everything. I can see that you were going for the feel of the anime given how it plays out and the over the top manner in which the dialogue carried. So I can see where you were going. It even has the correct feel to it. However, since it is neither script nor prose, it sends mixed messages. You need to commit to one style, as I don't believe you're trying to be experimental.

Even when I'm trying to convey that manga feel in my stories I still remain within the confines of a prose format. I may use different parts in an unconventional manner, but it is all still prose. Considering it how numbers heavy a card game is a script format probably is the best way. The only other way to do it and not be bogged down in the boring repetitive aspect of the numbers game in a prose is to drop the majority of the card aspect and make it more character focused and not card focused. That way the prose would still have the flow that would not be interrupted by number games.

Well I finished reading the first chapter, however after reading it. It's going to be more difficult to provide an in depth feedback due to how you structured it. So I have to ask. Did you want it to be a script or prose? Because it is neither, since it is neither there are large sweeping comments that have to be made that will pretty much make the need for further comments unnecessary. As it would change quite significantly, thus commenting further would not really prove to be meaningful at this point.

Yeah, I haven't tried too strongly. However, Crunchyroll is opening a doujinshi part of their site. So there is a nice public market for original stories. I might end up trying to hunt down an interested artist there.

I'm going to trying to look at it tonight. Ever since I finally got Zero Escape, it's been difficult not to want to play it endlessly.

It's ok, I'm patient about waiting. Maybe I should advertise I'm looking.
