Aye looks like it! Bath is quite nice- I could probably live there if I were to get a job there.

Strangely there's a web company in Ringwood who seem interested, so hopefully I'll be able to work there. I tried to pop in yesterday but they were closed.

Ah, I'm small town folk (but not in the incestuous way), so I'm used to friendly people and peace and quiet! Even when I'm up in Chippenham, I miss Ringwood, the New Forest and the Dorset Coast. I'm in no way a city person- unless its for visits.

I still would like to go to Scotland someday. I think now that I've braved London on my own, I can do anything! All I need is the money... I hope getting a job won't be too hard!

Yeah, those are the other reasons. I really hate bad manners. It's quite sad when people know you're an outsider because you're polite. I got the odd nasty look from people as I was carrying a suitcase on the trains. I'm sorry, I cannot drive, I'm taking 2 trips, and there is nothing wrong about it! It's also far too noisy for me too.

Urgh, I don't blame you for missing uni- I wouldn't be able to cope in a town/city where 60% of the population is a proper chav. I thought Chippenham (where I am studying) was bad, but thankfully its not that bad. Wiltshire chavs are quite funny though- as they're trying the whole East London thing, but they still have farmer accents coming through! It makes them a little funnier than being completely intimidating.

Although on the Friday meeting before the expo in London, a goup of at least 20 ten-year old chavs started giving people grief. They were too young for us to be able to do anything about them. Even the Police were sided towards them as they were kids! One of the reasons I could never live in London.

How is life going man? You still doing schooling?

Oh yeah, I forgot you Scots finish much earlier than us! Yeah I shall be graduating this year. Next week is the final week so it's a bit of an assignment rush at the moment.

Bloody chavs/neds! Thankfully it's not too bad in my hometown- I'm escaping them by coming back down here. Oh yes, I watched the video you linked me the other day. It did fuel some anger. In areas I felt sorry for some of the people, especially that woman who was letting people into her house but it was kind of her fault for being too kind and trusting! Swearing infront of a young child though, that angered me. And other stuff.

    Awwwww

Haha I'm not sure what I'd do as admin that I don't do as S-mod besides help out with name changes. And I guess IP ban. PARTY TIIIIIME.

I would've liked to have seen Gordan Brown step down (if that's considered necessary) and the LibDems form a coalition with Labour.

I remember Clegg's reasoning for not doing that as being something along the lines of 'more people voted for the Conservatives than for Labour'. I really don't think he understood the whole three-party/king-maker situation very well.

The political Right scares me. It really does.

Woah - a single Conservative representing Scotland!

Crap, get the electionalance, the UK's going into democratic arrest!

Yeh, that was lame. But still. I'm gonna keep on eye on news over in the old country. TFF needs some non-American political threads.

I enjoyed how a team of UK people had to come to NZ to learn from our methods of forming coalition governments. I understand that it's an unusual situation there? Here, that's the norm. It'd be extraordinary to have an outright-majority government, and/or a cabinet established in less than a month.

I was consistently confused by LibDem policies, mostly because I can't place them on the traditional political spectrum. I understand that they're pretty much centre-Left? Which I felt was strange, because Blair had already brought the Labour Party to the Centre.

It really comes down to username and avatar. When Gypsy was new, had "Tenseikken Slash" (or something) for her username, and had a male for an avatar, I assumed she was male. Pretty rational thinking, given the amount of information we have.

It's not that it should make a lick of difference, although I think I may have referred to you as 'she' once or twice.

I wonder if I'll ever get it with new members and my current avatar. Depends if "Alpha" is seen as feminine, I suppose.

Also, guts for the election (although I'm unclear on what happened In Scotland in particular). You guys REALLY need electoral reform. I read that you did a policy survey, and largely agreed with the Greens' policies. Awesome - me too! Thing is, here, voting for the Greens is not a wasted vote (well, it is for electorates, but not for Parliament), because we have an effective proportional system (MMP). The Greens got 7% (or was it more?) of the vote, and that share of the seats.

There are calls to remove MMP for something more along the UK lines - and I can't get over the stupidity. While MMP does advantage minor parties, that's a good thing - so one doesn't have to vote for parties that they only somewhat agree with because their ideal parties wouldn't win enough votes.

I was just on the TFF page on Facebook.

I had no idea you were a male 0.o

Talk about internet androgyny (no offense intended).

I understand. Although I think you would enjoy it anyway. I will accept your decision though. If you ever want to play it there are two games for the GBA and one for the DS.

Officially speaking the last activity I had on these forums was in February 2015, five months ago. This activity coincided with a life changing event for me, in the form of a new job - the starting rung on a career - an opportunity as a designer at a AAA game studio, one which I won't name here to prevent any unfortunate paper trails - however I have a feeling a fair proportion of you already know. This exciting opportunity had the drawback of having to move to what is technically a different country

Winter Reflection

by Aerif on 12-27-2013 at 04:05 PM
It's becoming a habit of mine to take a relatively simple topic and stretch it out into several pages of writing that is of no interest to other people. This is why I will make an excellent academic.

Trailed thought. Let me start over.

It's becoming a habit of mine to take the time during the winter holidays to reflect upon the year that was, and unless I'm mistaken about my commitment to such a process this will be the seventh time I do so on TFF, to coincide with my eighth

[Hey pilgrims. Happy thanksgiving pilgrims.] Thoughts and prayers to those involved at Clutha.

by Aerif on 11-29-2013 at 06:01 PM
Well I guess it was yesterday. I did manage to say thanksgiving to an actual American though. He knows who he is.

Black Friday has always been a fascinating topic of conversation in the UK, since its slowly becoming an imported tradition. As far as I can tell Black Friday sales only began a few years ago - at least online - with Amazon selling Wiis and Xbox 360s for £50: a pretty amazing bargain even by today's standards.

This is the first year I've seen (or to better put

August. Fecking August was the last time I updated.

Of all people it was Loco who made me realise this by asking about my lack of logging into FFXIV. Presumably he is injured and has run out of people to contact.

Since my last posts, my situation has changed a fair bit. I live in the city now in the student accommodation I mentioned before, and am adjusting to life as a non-commuting student. Dundee, although small, is fairly pleasant.

Also they have this:

Ultros keeps getting hit by Thundaga

by Aerif on 08-25-2013 at 09:38 AM
One of the major benefits of Square Enix being a Japanese country is that all of the testing periods, and early access beginnings, and emergency down-period maintenance in Final Fantasy XIV have been happening at ideal times for European players. The Japanese 6pm start time has translated nicely into 10am start times in the UK.

For some strange reason however, the Early Access period which began yesterday morning has so far been afflicted by much more frequent downtime and maintenance
