    Soaps

Any Soap Opera viewers out there? *Squints while looking out of the screen*

I wanna start a Soap thread! For I am a shameless Eastenders addict. Although admittedly it is going down in quality, but I got hooked from the good ol times
    .
Another soap I'm quite fond of is Doctors. I love medical dramas - stemming from my passionate love for science. So whenever I'm lucky enough to catch that I'm happy.

So... any other Eastie fans? Come on...

Oh... and welcome to Soap Discussion thread Hopefully to be full of juicy goss *Giggles and runs*

[[And I did a check, I couldn't find a thread like this... sorry if I'm incorrect.]]

    Im an Eastenders fan
I use to watch it years ago, then stopped, then started again lol, had sooo much to catch up on.
I also use to be a huge lover of Home and Away, but after they took it off the air and put it on a different channel a few years later I didn't start watching it again til several years later, but I watched it on Fiver so it was all the early years, that I had missed out on, then they took that off the air and now I just can't bothered to start watching it again.

My FFVII addicted nephew: Secret weapon
My Bullet lovin half wolf cousin: Raider
My complete FFVII nut sister: Unkown entity

Yay for Easties!!!!! ^_^ *Super Glomps yooou*

I'll bet you have alot to catch up on It changes and so fast... <_<! I see it on BBC Prime, so I'm behind by a couple of episodes, but the latest thing was
    SPOILER!!:
Stacey is acting extremely odd and at the end of the episode her mother told her she had the same condition as her. Bi-Polar Disorder.

I'm interested to how they will develop that x3.

Home and Away? I'm pretty sure I used to watch that *.*

I hate soaps as much as I hate country music--and that's a lot. It is vile fairy-tale bullshit filtered through hollywood stereotypes of pretty, shallow barbie and ken dolls--I mean 'human beings'--with appalling acting and even worse plots. It's the pre-cursor to the non-reality shows of today where drama is exaggerated and there's no such thing as an average Joe/Jane. It is the nascar of the insecure daydreamers who want unnecessarily huge diamond rings/weddings, tall white-teethed caucasian knights on unicorns, and unneeded diets that don't work. The only freakin' way I'll ever watch such trash is if MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000) is revived and takes up it's hilarious offensive commentary to each new soap that is aired. Even then, I'd rather eat my own vomit so I can hurl it back at my TV before I ever acknowledge soap's are anything but trash.

I don't know if they're considered soaps, but the TV shows I'm really hooked on are:

    -House
    -Greek

House is just a great show in general, with great acting and solid stories. I watch Greek cause I like to see what the fraternity/college life is like in the US, even if it is fiction.

ZOMG, the season final of Greek is online, I forgot. Big thanks to Laura for making me remember.

I think Eastenders is okay; it's TV trash but sometimes the drama is just too good to miss.

My mother loves Emmerdale, which I hate hate hate. It's just so ****ing boring; Zack ****ing Dingle -- what a knob.

Corries is okay, but it lacks in interesting and new stories these days. Eastenders would have to be my favourite just because there are at least five different characters who cry per episode.

I used to watch Neighbours when I was younger but then they introduced a bunch of teenagers and changed the channel and it got really ****ing boring. So I don't watch that anymore.

I used to really like Hollyoaks too, but then I disliked a few storylines they went down. Is it just me, or is everyone in Hollyoaks jumping in and out of eachothers beds? I'm sorry, I can't take it seriously. And I think they take it too far with the whole sex/college/drugs/drink/sexuality stuff - too student for my liking. I find Skins equally as bad. ><

Yeah, and Shameless. All of those are really tacky pikey shows, in my opinion. It's all sex and drinking and I find it all really boring. At least on Eastenders, people cry after the sex, hahaha.

I've hated Hollyoaks ever since I can remember; actually my mother wouldn't let me watch it until I was about 12 or 13 and had a good grasp on what was going on - shame really because it ended up being pretty crap, haha. My half sister looooved it.

I watched Shameless once, and found it a little funny, but never watched it again - the rest of it seemed the same kind of thing all the time. And the girl in it (I was going to say the really chavy one, but they'll all chavy lol) really got on my nerves.

I've hated Hollyoaks ever since I can remember; actually my mother wouldn't let me watch it until I was about 12 or 13 and had a good grasp on what was going on - shame really because it ended up being pretty crap, haha. My half sister looooved it.
I didn't even know Hollyoaks existed until I was 14. XD
It really was much better back then though. The new people ruined it, and the older ones fell down a few levels. ><

I watch All my Children and One Life to Live and General Hospital. I haven't been watching much of OLTL or GH lately, the story just isn't that great. On AMC it's getting pretty crazy.
Randi almost got raped so she knocked the guy out.
Then she left and the guys wife comes in and fnishes him off but Randi goes back and hes dead so she thinks she did it soher and the police chief covered it up(shes the police chief's daughter in law) So it's getting crazy lol.

My mom watches General Hospital, and as gay as it is for a man to like soap operas, after a few weeks of sitting with her and watching it, I'm hooked. Some of the characters are a little boring, and I would just love to watch them get killed off at some point in the near future, and it's always dark on the show, making it hard to see people's faces at times, and causing everybody to have black eyes, but other than that, it's a ****ing awesome show. It's kind of like a more dramatic version of the Godfather.

LMAO. Soaps are the biggest joke ever. Horrible acting, horrible plot. It's like watching a softcore porn movie without the porn in it. The ones on the Spanish channel are actually pretty funny though, if you can understand it.

I agree with everything Che said.

The spanish ones, even though I don't understand them, are great. So much bounciness and well-endowed spanish women. good times.

I'm a sucker for the occasional soap, usually when I see a full collection or half the boxsets on sale somewhere.

The one I've been most entertained by is One Tree Hill. I like the story of a nobody becoming somebody and a somebody being humbled a bit. Yeah, it's not the most realistic of shows and at times it gets way cheesy, but hell, I watch TV/play games to get away from reality so it's all good.

What do I like most about these shows? They act like a damn good filler at times when there's nothing to do. Like that half hour/hour between two shifts or something. =D
