Politics are ****ed up in Holland, Balkenende is Bush his slave, enough said. Things are getting more radical here though, I wouldn't be surprised if there would be a civil war in Holland in 20 years between the Dutch and the Islam.

We've had a minority government for the last ten or so years (after the war really) with the Social Democrats in the lead most of the time. But since we're up for an election soon, I guess things could swing in favour of the right wing. We have seven major (well, some not so major) parties here, and since none of them ever gain a complete majority, they have to form a kind of coalition government.

So we have "Folkpartiet" that are rather economically right wing and yet advocate more socially liberal policies, and they have about 50% chance of gaining power in a coalition, but not on their own, no. There are two parties, The Social Democrats (left) and The Conservatives (right) that are large enough to, at least theoretically, gain enough power to form a majority government on their own. But it would never, and probably could never, happen in practice

The Liberal Democrats in the UK have faced a spot of bother. I'm sure people used to like the Lib Dems simply because so little was known about their MPs comapred to those in Labour and Conservative. But now that Charles Kennedy has stepped down for having been an alcoholic while party leader those running for party leadership haven't been performing too well either. Mark Oaten, the married man, was exposed for having an affair with a rent boy. He's had to step down. Simon Hughes isn't actually too bad, despite having lied on previous occasions about his sexuality on previous occassions before coming clean, he isn't a married man and apparently his homosexuality has been an 'open secret' for a long time. Unfortunately, he ran a slightly homophobic election campaign back in the 1980s which he has apologized for. Campbell let himself get owned by Blair when challenging the PM about temporary headmasters in schools. I'm glad to see the Lib Dems losing support because I thoroughly disliked their economic policies last election.

Firstly they dont get Cadburys, which means no Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Flake, or anything like that!

Secondly, they don't get Kinder stuff.

Kinder Surprise was a complete waste of money. I remember they cost 50p when I was little and the amount of chocolate they gave you was pitiful. The toy inside was obviously what caused the good to be so expensive but often the toy was rubbish and I've lost all mine.

Cadbury's Dairy Milk is my favourite chocolate.

Yeah, the Kinder Surprise was and IS too expensive, the chocolate is very yummy though. But you can also find the same chocolate in those small Kinder bars that are also, strangely enough, just called Kinders. Kinder's Bueno's are very, very yummy, I have to say. It's the brown bar, with the creamy hazelnut filling. Hmmmm...scrumptious

Yeah! I mean, heinz ketchup flavour? Heinz baked beans flavour? oh, and a peronal favorite- Coleman's mustard flavour! We have the traditional flavours and wiend ones. I didnt have the stomach to try those limited edition vanilla ice cream monster munch, it was a tad extreme but a valid point!

Let's talk about academic selection. I'm in favour of introducing more grammar schools. Contrary to popular belief, grammar schools increase social mobility instead of decrease it. Academic selection is unfair and illegal? Only the latter is true. Even in a grammar school, students are divided up into sets according to ability because that is the best way to learn. If the class is of mixed ability then the less intelligent students could slow down the learning pace and not allow the teacher to expand into extra cirricular areas, similarly, less able students may try even less because they may feel demoralized by some people consistently out-performing them by such a long way.

Another argument is that house prices near good schools go up, and make them unaffordable for poor people so they can't send their kids there. Perhaps it's something to do with catchment areas being restricted and priority given to kids living nearer to the school. If you increase the catchment area, even children living in a shitty location can enter a grammar school if they study.

eeesh, i just discovered something terrible that will change the perception of European music industry... AGAIN! The Eurovision Song Contest is coming up. WHY?! Because it is some cultish-trend that happens every year to deface all great things European, and plants cheesyness in the grounds of our great continent. I say to get good local bands of REAL music in there. One for each country involved, then it would be worthwhile entertainment.

One thing is for sure... im NOT watching it, and for the sake of all your precious little (or big) ears, stay away from Eurovision children...

No matter how many humiliating results the UK ends up with, crap artists won't be deterred from "giving it a go". And it's so traditional to hear Terry Wogan insult countries who do not give points/very few points to the UK. I am just glad the BBC feels the Eurovision Song Contest is a worthwhile use of license fee money.

Still, I'd leave it to free individual choice. If ratings are so low that the BBC realize it'd be better off broadcasting something else then great, but clearly, there must be a lot of viewers each year for this thoroughly traditional event. And as we all know, traditions are important and valuable. They boost community well being and carry great social benefit. Even if the tradition is illogical, inefficient and in need of dire reform.
