Yeah I don't think Loco actually voted though. He popped in early to say he was voting, but I don't think he voted in here unless he PMed MaxPower? Maybe he just forgot the deadline?

Anywayz, if I am the winner, let me say that it is a great honor and i appreciate the support from everyone. All the other contestants deserve recognition as well, for really everyone's banners were very impressive! If i could split this award with everyone else i would, but I will definitely enjoy playing my NES Maxpower, thanks. And i won't let this be the end of my banner making..i still have many ideas left in my noggin, so hopefully down the road we can have some more contests or something. Or else, i'll just be making them for the hell of it. I like the esper banner btw darkdragoon! I was testing myself to see if i could name all of them off the top of my head but there were a few i couldn't. Er..more like 1 or 2. I think the one i am confused about is part of Crusader though.

As for the handheld Zeldas..I only have played Link's Awakening so I dont' have much of a say. I have yet to play Oracle of Ages/Seasons and the Minish Cap..and Phantom Hourglass for the DS is coming out soon isn't it? I'd like to hear the opinion of somebody who has played them all. I really enjoyed Link's Awakening, and both the Oracle games seem to keep the basic look and gameplay of Link's Awakening while providing fresh and original concepts. I'd really like to play those soon, probably more so than minish cap. What does everyone else think about the handheld games?

Damn I'm late to vote....Anyways thanks for the warm welcomes everybody. Congrads GLC on winning the contest too. Your sig looks awesome by the way. As for Zelda hand-held games, I've only played Oracle of Ages. It was really fun to play. I liked the gameplay though. I'm also looking forward to Phantom Hourglass too. It reminds me of Wind Waker...well the graphics at least though, but yeah.

I would suggest playing the Oracle games, honestly. They were actually pretty good and I kept coming back to them when I owned them. Definitely good plays

Anyways, congrats GLC, I knew it was going to be a tight competition between you and max, and in the end you pulled through, so, congrats again. And my banner... lets see, I am going to name from the top right corner and work my way to the left in a top then bottom motion... Alexander, the bottomright part of Crusader, Tritoch, Raiden, Palidor, Fenrir, Terrataro(sp?), the top part of Crusader, Phoenix, Scarlet/Starlit, Bahamut, Maduin(sp?), and the bottomleft part of Crusader. Yeah, and I did that from memory just by looking at the picture, pretty sad I am, Haha.

Thanx for the congrats guys. I'm always picky when it comes to my own work, and though i'm happy with my creations, i feel like some of them could be done better or things could be added to them. My faces of miyamto especially, i want to clean some of the images up as well as add an extra face or two for "artist" and "revolutionary." And for my current one, i want to make the tv look more realistic. Not only the image of the screen itself, but once i am not feeling so lazy I'm going to go back and add a flicker effect to the screen. I guess some might be works in progress, and you'll see updated versions of them sometime.

Thanx for the congrats Doughboy! Yeah you did get here just a little too late..no worries though, I'm sure many contests will be held down the road! Welcome again BTW, good to hear from ya!

My only question to people is..out of all 4 of my sigs, which one do you like the best? I ask this because i want to have one be my permanent banner in my sig. And it's always been hard for me to judge my own work, i'm a tough critic when it comes to stuff that i create. And to Doughboy, who probably hasn't seen all my banners, i think i have them attatched to previous posts. I might try to go back and find them and link them though.

Hey, saying that's sad is a bad way to look at it! It's awesome you know all the names, coming from a fellow FF VI fan. Yeah two parts of Crusader are the only ones i didn't recognize at first glance because i haven't seen them separated before, that one above the N was the one at first that had me scratching my head.

I haven't posted here in a while, because... I dunno. But something I saw caught my interest; two people saying they didn't want to play Wind Waker because of the graphics.

.....aaAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!! That is not a good reason! That game is freaking awesome, I promise you! I played it the Fall before last, and the gameplay has to be some of the best I've played in a new game. From being able to pick up an enemy's weapon, to watching the world fly by in a haze as you get knocked 50 feet away by the blow a moblin, it's just awesome. The dungeons (though there aren't that many) are also pretty cool. And then there's Ganondorf... man. Ganondorf is a BAD MAN in this game, I promise you. Just get to the ending.

The worst thing about this game was the sailing from island to island, but I truly didn't mind it as much as other people have seemed to. In any case, never tell me you're not going to play a game because of the graphics!!

well, I'm beat. *bows* you people beat me down.
    I didn't play windwaker for 2 reasons. 1. I didn't even have a gamecube.
    2. didn't like the graphics, the N64 graphics were better
yeah, that and it seems like my sig is nothing compared to you other people. No biggie. Maybe I'll try harder next time, maybe not. I'm not really an ambitious person.

  7. #397
Yeah i agree graphics aren't a good reason to not play the game. I guess I should say the real reason why I didn't play Windwaker is because i don't own a gamecube. If i would have owned one I definitely would have atleast given it a try, and probably in the process would have enjoyed the gameplay and gotten over the whole cartoony look. In all honesty, i actually like a lot of cel-shaded graphics, i remember the WOW factor i had when playing Jet Grind Radio on my dreamcast for the first time. I think the graphics fit the personality of the game perfectly. Also, i loved Dark Cloud 2, and it featured cel-shaded graphics. I don't know why I didn't do the same for windwaker, i've really gotten over it now though. I plan on getting the game once i get my Wii. Maybe when i finally do get my Wii, i'll just get Windwaker and Twilight Princess and have two Zelda games to play through.

Looking back now though, i have to say even if you don't like cel-shaded graphics, quality wise, Windwaker's are incredible. When watching that Zelda retrospect and seeing the game in action i was really impressed, especially by Link's facial expressions. I think people to have to get over the graphics, i mean Link was a Kid in Ocarina too right?

I've heard that the sailing does break up the game a lot though for sure..i've also heard the game is pretty easy. I'm still determined to play it sometime though.

I dunno, the game just kind of drew me away because of the graphics, I remember playing a FPS with similar graphics and going "er, what the hell" the game, in my mind was horrendous, and was getting rave reviews from the people at different places that review games. Afterwards, the Wind Waker came out, and had the same cel-shaded, and I didn't have a Gamecube anyways, so, I just threw it to the side. I never said it was an awful game, I just said I didn't want to try it because I didn't want to be disappointed from one of my favorite series. Anyways, TP is coming out for the GC, and I have a GC now, so, I may pick up WW as well, just to try, as it is probably cheap, and when I get a Wii, I can play TP there too.

Anyways, I was going to put it like how they came into the screen, but I moved that part of Crusader over for Terataro. I am glad you all like my banner though, I am working on putting a new one for my Hive, and getting a BoD one going.

Hm. The graphics threw you off that much, eh? I just hate that. I hate hearing that someone doesn't like a game because "the graphics suck." I hated it when I heard it said about this game, I hated it when people said it about FF9, I hated it when someone posted a thread about FINAL FANTASY 6 saying they didn't like it because "the graphics suck." It just throws me off. I don't understand it. I guess it comes down to personal taste, but the first thing to jump out to me about a game is the game play, the story, the plot, the characters, etc, and the last thing I care about are the graphics. I've killed a man for a lesser offense, let me tell you... oh yes, I am hard core. Damn straight.

I went in to that game thinking it was terrible, too, because of all the shit people were saying about it. I came out of playing it pleasantly surprised. You might be, as well. Anyhoo...

I see your point. I'm the far opposite of a graphics whore honestly. To me it wasn't exactly the graphics of Windwaker, because from a technical standpoint, the graphics are very well done. It's mostly the artistic style used that I guess got me at first, it just seemed too kiddy to me to be a Zelda game. I will never not play a game for it's graphics but sometimes it will turn me off a little bit before getting a chance to play it. First impressions are really important i think, and just seeing screenshots of it made me go.."ehhhh" I've played some games with awful graphics and really enjoyed them though.

Anyone that says FF IX or VI has bad graphics needs to be shot on sight though i agree. For one IX has great graphics, on par with VIII's from a technical standpoint, but much better art direction i think, and the backgrounds and environments just seemed so much more lively and colorful. And VI..wow nobody can diss on VI for having bad graphics. FF VI is one of the most graphically impressive games in the series if you ask me. People have to remember that it was released on the SNES, and that game pushed the hardware to it's limit, providing for some of the best 2D graphics the system has ever seen. I mean it's use of Mode 7 was groundbreaking, people never thought things like that could be done in a 2D game. The opening scene alone made my jaw drop the first time i played it.

I think I'll be pleasantly surprised like you Taco. I really have no doubt that i will really enjoy the game, i mean it's Zelda, right? I was really wrong to judge the game without playing it, i agree that gameplay and story are what make a game, but without playing and judging it on screenshots people don't always get the right impression. I've had about a million people tell me what a great game Windwaker is though.

I havn't played Windwaker yet, mainly because I didn't have a gamecube. However I was turned off by the fact that I was expecting another Ocarina of Time and was waiting for an awesome looking Zelda with incredible graphics and beautifully designed dungeons and landscapes and so on. But instead they gave us a childish looking cartoon.

Overall I beleive you can't call the Windwaker graphics crap, just different.

I hate it when people are turned off games by thier graphics. But even worse is this friend of mine who is turn off by games if they are old, if they are not from the latest console he dosn't want to play them. I try to tell him that these games have just as good if not better gameplay and everything else, then today's game. But he has this strange mentality that if a game is old it can't possibly be as good in any way as todays games. We actually argue about it quite a lot and he come up with points that are quite intelligent but demonstrates that he hasn't even played the game he's criticizing. For example he said that older games had smaller companies working to create the games. Anyway it is ignorant people like him that really get to me.

Yeah, if you think I am a graphics whore, you are sorely mistaken, I just felt that the Cel-shading didn't fit in. I would have played another Link to the Past over TP any day. And GLC, I agree completely, there are only a few games that were as good looking on the SNES as VI, like Bahamuts Lagoon, and perhaps Chrono Trigger. In my eyes, the SNES was the pinnacle of gaming, I don't think there will ever be a system to top it in my eyes. It has some of the best games ever made, Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, MQ(yeah, I like that game, got a prob?) Bahamuts Lagoon, Tales of Phantasia, Breath of Fire I+II, Chrono Trigger, Ogre Battle, Megaman X/X2/X3, Secret of Mana, Seiken Dentsu(SP?) 3, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the list goes on. This system has the best of a lot of games, and will always be the best system in my eyes, I don't think there will be a system to actually surpass it.

    Anyways ~~~~~~~

I've got to agree with Taco on this one! Windwaker is one of my favorite Zelda games. I hate the boat parts but the rest of the game is just really fun! I also think that it is cool that once you beat it they encourage you to play again because things have changed and you get to understand story lines that were somewhat hidden before. Also perhaps one of the coolest parts in any zelda game happens in Hyrule castle in windwaker! IT is awsom. Maybe I will replay that one.

Yeah *looks above at edited post*, you're not even officially in the club are you?

Anywayz, got a brief chance to play some Twilight Princess the other day at my friend's on the gamecube. I have to say that it really impressed me, the graphics were very well done for a gamecube game (minus some muddy textures), it did a great job of bringing the zelda world to life, a much better job than any past game. The controls and combat seemed fun too. I didn't get too far, basically just the intro to the game. I got to the part where you play as a wolf for the first time and meet your annoying navi like person. I'm hoping to go back and check out some dungeons sometime soon. Everytime i'm there we always end up playing hours of three or four player smash brothers though.

@geordanuk, I have no idea about how you keep track of your wii points. i don't have a wii but i'm sure somebody else would know.

Not exactly nintendo related news..but kind of. Well right now i am playing through Okami on my ps2. I brought it up because gameplay wise it takes a lot from Zelda..but wow this game is ridiculous. I haven't been this impressed with a game in a REALLY long time. The visuals are absolutely breathtaking, unlike anything i have ever seen, and the controls and gameplay so fun and innovative. Plus, the game has a really interesting story and an undeniable charm. Think Zelda..on acid. Yeah really crazy and trippy stuff.

Well I have a Gameboy Micro, but only one game for it so far. Sonic Advance 3. As far as gameboy games go, it kinda sucks. I mean they have great games like Kingdom Hearts, COM, and Sonic Battle. The classic 2d stuff gets old when you have a new gameboy like that. Anyway, I'm gonna try out some more games on it

I got a Wii early for Christmas. Well it was an early Christmas present and wow I got Zelda: Twilight Princess too on it. My dad got it last month when they launched it and he was one of the lucky ones to get it. My mom was pissed though when he gave it to me early. I was just in awe though. Graphics are amazing and the gameplay and combat is really fun. I haven't been able to play that much though. I've gotten into Red Steel though. Great game too by the way.

YAY I got my Wii and I just went out and bought Red Steel and its awesome bit dodgy on the controls though , Wii Sport is a very good built in game.

The Wii Shop is intresting since you can get the internet free trial from it which is extreamly fun , new way to use the internet with its built in flash.

The Mii characters are incredibly funny especially in Wii Sports boxing considering you can knock the living daylights out of them and they are still smiling!!!!

The Weather Channel is probably the only bad feature about it although you can't blame them for trying , its very inaccurate and its always set to 0:00 update time so no matter what it says its night time unless you press down and then it goes to "today" which is a tad more accurate

well theres my review for now and i'm now in need for money so I can get Zelda!

Well, you all suck who got Wii for x-mas, I got (basically) nothing but clothes and games I didn't recognize. I am quite jealous. I hope you all had a better turnout than myself, or better x-mas all together, mine was a bit, er, sub-par, nothing noteworthy.

For Christmas I got $100 and a $100 voucher for clothes at Rivers. I'm considering whether I should get Monster Truck Madness or GT, I should probably look up some reviews or something.

Yay to you Geordude for finally playing your Wii.

I want to play Windwaker but I've never had a gamecube I'm definately going to see about getting on the Wii VC, has anyone gotten any games for the VC yet?

Yeah I'm on the VC but its just a bit stupid sometimes since I got Sonic The Hedgehog but if you have it on 60hz it runs slower than normaly so you have to set it to 50hz , but most of the other games work fine I've been "trying" to get Super Mario 64 but the damn thing wont let me get onto it its just not letting me connect to the net

    Sounds good Geordude.

Didn't one of you say that you get some wii points with the classic controller, I went to the game store and asked about it, but they said that you have to buy the Wii point separately.

I got Children of Mana but I've been quite disapointed, has anyone else gotten it and been disapointed? I still have a change to take the game back if I want. Should I?

If you don't like the game, take it back. Then you get at least some of your money back. Then you can use that to buy a game you like. (I'm a genious)

For Christmas, from my relatives I got nothing but clothes.... but from my parents I got 2 naruto mangas, an Airsoft gun and a target, a whomp it hammer. (blow up hammer you use to vent your fustration) and a how-to-draw manga book. So The good stuff came from my parents, the clothes came from everyone else. Buuuut. I am still going to my other grandparents (farther away) and exchanging gifts there. hehehehehehehehe

Sorry I have not posted in a while but I got twilight princess anda Wii for christmas also and have been more than pleased with the twilight! It is awsome! I think that the story line is very creative and I am really enjoying how the Wii controller works with it. It took a while to get use to but now that I am I think it is great. Also it is just darn fun to play Now if I could just find some more Wii remotes to play multi-player wii sports.

Multiplayer Wii Sports is very fun although not entirely recommended in a small room like we were playing in. When I nearly got a back hand in the head during tennis, I learned to watch for my freinds arms more then the ball. Anyway it was a lot of fun and we were jumping around like monkies in front of the screen. I've also played Wii play with my freind and it was also quite good. But has you sitting on the couch more.

Anyway I've recently made the decision to start playing Seiken Densetsu 3, just to remind myself how good that game used to be before they ruined it with Sword of Mana and Children of Mana. It is such a shame when you see good games go backward in their gameplay as technology moves forward. I'm surely going to be using my Wii for a lot of emulation soon, because let's face it games were better back in the day and now you can pay $5 for a game that will give you as much enjoyment as a $99 game, speaking in Australian dollars by the way.

Ah you lucky Wii players! I wish i could be doing the same! I'm gonna be so happy once i get my Wii and TP, but for now i am having a blast playing Okami.

I didn't get anything nintendo/game related at all really for christmas. I got some money, some dvds, some clothes, just the typical stuff. Nothing too special really, but the money is definitely going towards the Wii fund. Oh man and airsoft guns are hilarious...i remember a long time ago people would dare me to shoot myself with those things..i swear they don't even hurt that much, just a little sting.

That sounds awesome about SD3 setzer. That game is a god of action rpgs, in my opinion, it is probably one of the best. Easily one of my top games of all time. It takes secret of mana, overhauls the graphics, adds multiple characters for interweaving storylines, adds a larger quest, character classes, that game has it all. If only we had seen an official english translation. As for children of mana? ew that sux that it's not any good, i'd return it if you don't see yourself playing it.

Just letting the Nintendo Worshippers know that i'm going to be M.I.A for awhile so don't miss me too much and i expect cool things to be going on in here when i return. And my gifts to hit the gift shop (i noticed your NES was up maxpower, old school cult members got some for christmas), anywayz au revoir!

Still haven't got my fricken' Wii. Still haven't actually seen a live, actual Wii, either. Not even one owned by someone else. Sucks.

I don't remember if I talked about this las time (no I didn't; last time I was bitching about people not liking Wind Waker because of the graphics; heh) but I was at Wal Mart with my friends, when all of a sudden I saw that they had a PS3. So I asked my friend "Mike, do you have $600?" He said "yeah," so I said "Look down there," and he was like "HOLY CRAP!" and he got it. What makes me sad, however, was that Wal Mart didn't also happen to have a single Wii for sale, or else we would've been walking out of there with a PS3 AND a Wii.

I asked another friend just the other day who works at Fred Meyer if they ever get any Wiis in, and he said "Yeah, but they're gone almost immediately." I also saw a PS3 there, although it was a 20 GB one instead of the 60 GB one. Still, That's two more occasions than when I've seen a Wii. If I ever see one, I'm buying it, no questions asked (unless, of course, I can't, because it's someone else's Wii.)

In other news, my friend beat me at Smash last night in a Fox vs. Fox match, twice, and it makes me sad. I've been dominant at that game for at least a year now, and he beat me with my best character, when I was playing as my best character, so he pretty much beat me at my own game on multiple levels there. It wasn't a fluke occurence, either; he was playing a lot better strategy-wise than I was. Then again, right afterwards I played against a level 9 Fox and almost lost, so maybe I was just tired and not playing very well (it was almost 4 AM, after all. Though we'd played until then the night before, and I'd still won all the one on one matches I played in.) Although maybe I'm just so used to the same things working every time that I've become really stale at the game, or something. I noticed I kept on trying to do the same thing over and over again to him, and he kept on dodging out of it. La la la... anyhoo....

I collect the money for The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii). The game is cool I Played the game by mine Friends and it's greatest game of The legend of Zelda Series.

The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess brings you to the Newest Hyrule and Adventure with the Wii Controller. And the other side of the Game is the Character Link, Wolf and Princess Zelda is great.
