Thread: The Old Skool Cult of Kefka, bitches!

1. #1441
Gah, I need to purchase a PSP.
It's finally got a number of games that I want. The umpteenth remakes of FF1 and FF2, an updated and corrected FFTactics, FFVII: Crisis Core, Loco Roco, and a few others.

I finally got my DS online, and can now suck at MAriokart and Tetris globally. Never, ever, play agame of tetris against a Japanese person. You will lose all pride, confidence, and lose in about 20 seconds. I know I did.

Erm. So. Hi, kids! It's KC, revamped.

How have we all been? ... And how long have I been gone. Gosh.

Thought I'd pop in, as I just asked a question in the FFXII section. (And if anyone here can help, I'm hunting for the Sky Pirate's Den sprites.) Hi!

Anything exciting happening? Well, I don't have much to contribute here really.

CP: FFXII (and loving it, at the "Final stretch, go complete side-stuff" stage), FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus (controls wonky, don't wanna!) and Suikoden V (just started, impulse buy). Also looking forward to Pokemon D/P once I get my hands on it.

When you get your Diamond/Pearl version, let me know.
WE KAN TRAID PKMANS LAWL

Looks like there were actually posts in the month I was gone! Yay, reading material! I'll go read through those later once I get caught up with everything.

Old school notes:
*Final Fantasy VI on GBA
*LOTS of virtual console games on the Wii (Ocarina of Time!)
*Pokemon Blue

New school notes:
*Hoshigami Remix on NDS (FUN GAME, buy it if you like SRPGs like FFT)
*Pokemon Pearl on NDS
*Pokemon Battle Revolution on Wii
*Resident Evil 4 on Wii

So let's break it down.

Final Fantasy VI - Finally nearing the end of my first playthrough of the GBA game. I've played it so many times on SNES and emulators that I wasn't in much of a rush to complete this one. Prepping for the extra content. I'm not levelled too high so it should provide a hell of a challenge. Looking forward to it!

Virtual Console - LoZ: Ocarina of Time has consumed most of my VC play as of late, though greats like Link to the Past, Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, and Donkey Kong Country have all had their share of play. <3 the Wii.

Pokemon Blue - I felt like booting up the old brick and playing Blue version on the ORIGINAL GameBoy. I forgot how heavy that thing was. Loved it. Absolutely loved it.

Hoshigami Remix - I'm not very far into this game as I just started it a couple days ago between shifts at work, but I'm really enjoying its INCREDIBLY unique gameplay. It's a tactical SRPG along the lines of FFT or Disgaea, but with action bars and shit... if anyone has ever played Stella Deus, it's nearly identical in terms of battle gameplay (save for the coinfeigm [magic cast via coin usage]). It's a ton of fun. If your character chooses not to move, s/he can attack multiple times in a single turn -- EXCELLENT for archers or other ranged characters. Holy freaking sweet.

Pokemon Pearl - Finally, after three weeks of not even playing, I'm en route to the Elite Four. It's about time. Jess and Nocona have been poking fun at me for being so far behind for too long now!

Pokemon Battle Revolution - It's a lot of fun... even if it is incredibly straightforward. It's straight-up battling, and nothing more. There aren't any extra minigames or any story modes. It's just battling at its best. Go head to head with your friends via your own DSes in the same room (use the DS to control the monsters, then watch the action on the TV!) or go online via WiFi and play with anyone -- friends and strangers alike. Fun times.

Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition - Do I really need to say anything here? Holycrapyes.

Eh, looks like I'm the only one kinda slacking a bit here on the old school gaming front. I'm still feeding my hunger for Suikoden. Suikoden III and IV are down, now I'm about 20 or so odd hours into V. Judging by what I've played so far, I'd say V is my favorite out of the bunch (despite its annoying load times ), I was glad to finally get done with IV though that's for sure! And finally the return of the most badass swordsman in the Suikoden world, GEORG PRIME!

Anyhoo, excuse me for not reading everyone's posts but hooray for another Hoshigami fan. I have yet to play the new version but from what I've read, it's better than the original which I own. Speaking of Stella Deus, same guys that made Hoshigami and another strategy rpg on my list. Is it worth playing?

I've never actually played Stella Deus -- one of my old co-workers (who now manages his own GameStop, lucky bastard) told me that Hoshigami was most like Stella Deus after I asked him what it could be compared to. He said that's really the only thing that's similar enough to compare, so... yeah.

Basically, if you like SRPGs, you'll probably like Stella Deus or Hoshigami. They're a little different from the typical tactical RPG, but the style is fun for me.

Also, you should ALWAYS take Nocona's opinion about an RPG as fact. That kid owns EVERY RPG EVER RELEASED (in America) on the PSX and PS2. Oy. I should probably pick up a copy of Stella Deus myself in the near future.

On a side note, I freaking love Georg.

Holy shizzle, teh Loco returns. I thought you went and kicked the bucket on us for a bit there. @.@

I recently started playing Illusions of Gaia again. I think it is a very interesting game. Usually I have a hard time with games that are done in Indiana Jones style (a.k.a. a line shows you traveling from one area to another) however this game has a great story line that seems to keep my attention. So here is a question for you all what is your favorite Enix game?

They had so many classics.
DRAGON QUEST
Soul Blazer
Star Ocean
ActRaiser
Brain Lord
E.V.O.: Search for Eden
7th Saga
and others. I think that my favorite game series they have made is Dragon Warrior but I really liked 7th Saga and Soul Blazer back in the day.

Most Dawezy-licious Pokémon code ever, if you'll note the last three digits. I found that to be highly amusing. Anywho, I can go catch a bunch of stuff to trade off to you if you want, including the Pearl-exclusives that you won't be able to get in Diamond. I'm on my way up Victory Road right now though (between work shifts and such), so I can't leave until I get to the Pokémon League... lest the whole trip be for naught.

Old School Gaming news for me? About the same as last time... more or less. Mostly Wii VC stuff, but also a touch of SNES action. Super Mario World and Final Fantasy III (*coughVI*) both got a run yesterday.

You bring a Grin to the face of Dawezy.

Not too much of an update on any real gaming fronts, I've taken FF12 out a couple times and whored on FF11 as per usual.. my neck is dry now. On the offline side I got the itch to get out the old Command & Conquer, the First Decade and start a new game on Red Alert II : Yuri's Revenge. Its oh so much fun when you send GI's over to building in cities to Garrison them, and hail bullets on paserby bad dudes. Whole heap of hi-tech shit in there ^^b pretty good game considering its mid 1990 tag.

About the same time SEGA went ass up

Too much work lately, I is tired.

Vicky, Loco. You both rock. I'll let you know once I get the wifi working.

For some reason, it refuses to work with my wireless router. I'm running through a GameFAQs guide to DS WiFi setup, and also checking the Nintendo WiFi tech support. So far, no luck... Next step, trying to update the router's firmware. Grr. Anyone have similar probs? I'd rather not fork out the excessive cash for one of those USB things just for this. Well, this and Animal Crossing I guess.

CP: Pokemon Diamond, FFXII... Considering booting up the PS1 and playing the FF1+2 remakes for a bit.

Moar hours, moar money, happy Dawezy.

But it also kicks the shit out of me, its only casual hours but damn son.. end of every shift I'm fucked up ; ; its a job that need some muscle oy. For a normal week (4 hour shift, 4 days a week) I can rake in about $300-ish which covers the rent but I asked for some more hours, so I could push the weekly income higher yet. :3 Afternoon/Evening work so its a good time-frame for me, I get to sleep in like the lazy fat bastard I am. <3

Well Ponk, my wifi works with my wireless router, because I had to configure my wireless router for a WEP key or something like that. Because only certain types of wireless connections work with the DS.

Either way, it's the kind of connection where it generates a randomized passcode for you.

Yeah, I've got it all configured with the WEP key and SSID and all, but it refuses to acknowledge it's even there... The Nintendo site says it's one of the routers that SHOULD work, but no luck so far. Just gotta work out how to go about updating the firmware... It hasn't worked so far

EDIT: OK, fiiiinally got the WiFi working! Here's my friend code! 4510-7684-0097 - Add it! Vicky, I'd love to grab some of those starter Pokemon if you don't mind.

I believe I am still member here? The fact that I joined way back would say thus, but my activity in this club would say not thus.

Currently playing FF12.... but I'm at the stage where I need to level up some more before I can fight any more Espers/Hunts... so it's some-what tedious.
Also re-playing The Secret of Monkey Island for the buzzillionth time. Absolute friggin' old school point and click adventure game classic.

Indeed. Come September, I'll disappear into the icy darkness only to return sometime in the Spring. Any gaming time I've had has been spent playing either The Sims 2, PoP: Sands of Time, or Shadow of the Colossus. Not much in the old school department, although I have been feeling the Adventure of Link urge now and then. All I have to do is pull out my gamepad and prepare to throw it against the wall.

Thats what Im mostly doing. Ever since I left SU two years ago I kinda just dropped out of all the forums I used to visit. I just recently vame back here to TFF.

For some reason I had the urge to play FFT again, haven't played it in 3 years or so (had to blow off all the dust). I love the battle system for this game and the job system was excellent. I want more FFT games in the future and not just remakes for the PSP.

lol, every month is old people check in month around here, just depends on who the "old" people are.

As to me...well, got out my Dreamcast yesterday, played some Capcom vs SNK against him, properly schooling him in the ways of the old-school fighting gamer. He claims he can beat me at everything, and so far, he's yet to manage.

Dreamcast... you never hear about that anymore....

Sure, it's old now but you at least still hear people reminisce about the PSX and the N64. Shame really, as even though I didn't play much Dreamcast, I understand it was a pretty good console. How much did you pick it up for?

The Dreamcast was a great console its just that the Playstation blew it away, poor Sega. One of the best RPGs came out for this system Grandia, the version was for the Dreamcast later on the PS2 version was relesed and it didn't look as good. I got mine at GameStop when they were fazing it out for $30.00.

To be honest? I don't even remember how much I paid for my DC, that's how long I've had it. I got it before they were truly phasing it out, as I got it when SoulCalibur was still the "OMGWTF" fighting game of the time. I have probably a good 20 game collection for it or so, and I try to watch for more when I can locally, but it's hard to catch'em, since the people who do have it, don't wanna get rid of it, lol.

Quick question, for those in here with graphical interests...anyone know of a file format I can use besides .GIF that can allow for animation....ya know...with maybe better color range? My Current sig is kinda...bleh at points, due to the color limitations on .GIF, unless there's a way to undo that limitation and I just don't know about it.

Don't PNGs support animation? I'm pretty sure they do, although I may have suffered a blow to the head. Who knows.

Anyways, I'm just checking in to say that I'm alive, albeit not feeling like it. I have been lurking around the forums periodically, but I haven't been posting much...or at all. TFF decided to tell me otherwise, so what the hell. I'm not back off of my hiatus, but nevertheless, let's talk about gaming.

So I started playing FFX again. I forgot how much I liked that game. I just love how they made such an idiotic main character. He's so fun. Like the hyper active kid that won't take his riddilin and constantly botheres others. Haha. I've also been trying a bit of that new Civ4 expansion and eh, it's pretty much the same. Nothing special there. That's about it I think. That's kind of lame. Oh well. Work sucks. Yup.

Keep it easy breezy beautiful cover girl, mates.
