    Work

Everyone has to make a living somehow, so the question is what is your job.

Over the past few years I have had several different jobs. For a period of time while in the Marine Corps I was a computer technician. Once getting out of there I started working at my local McDonald's where I shot to management rather quickly. It just wasn't for me. I had a pretty nice job for a while as a computer technician for CSI Technology. I am currently the department manager over Plumbing at a Lowe's. I gotta say out of all the places I have been this is the best. The people I work with are great, excellent pay and hours, everything I sweet so far.

Sitting here waiting for Rocky, and Che to notice me!!

    Re: Work

I work as a waiter/busboy hybrid. Well, that's what I typically do. My manager has me trained to do every single position (except management/Key Hourly work) in the place, so I could be anywhere from cooking to ringing up orders to taking money. Anyway, I make decent tips which exceed minimum wage when averaged with my checks, despite the fact I'm only paid half of minimum wage, so I'd say I make off pretty well for a guy my age.
I live the job. It has its ups and its downs, but I'll definitely remember it fondly.

    Re: Work

I work in aerospcae. Most of my experiance comes from the repair side of things. As of now I am in manufacturing and puts me 2 years into that side of the field.

I have been doing this since I was 13 years old so there isn't anything to difficult or that I haven't previously seen.

I enjoy repair work and this newest venture has been fun but starting to think its reached its limits. Manufacturing is like kindergarden in the repair world. Might need a change of scenerey soon.

Can go on a lot more and in greater detail but it would either confuse most of you or bore most of you. Right now let's keep it simple and say that I work on airplane wings.

    Re: Work

Wasn't there a thread like this before? Not that it matters. Anyway, I still work at the newspaper, and have done so for five and two-thirds years. The only that has changed since my post in the other work thread is that I am now head carrier. I now deliver papers to the businesses as well as the residents.

I also fill-in at the office when there is no one else to work the phones and sell ads.

The only other work I have done is of the volunteer kind. Recycling centers, hospitals, street clean-up committees, etc. I did some volunteer work at Shawnee State Park a while back where I had to dig post-holes for the identification plaques for the different trees, flowers, and other plants of the area.

    Re: Work

I manufacture industrial light fittings. I wire the products together, test them to make sure there are no faults and that it works and pack them. Most of the gear is fixed into powdercoated housing.

Despite the crappy management here, I am awesome at my job. My product knowledge is probably better than anyone else here. I could tell you how to make something right now. But I can't be bothered. When new people are hired, I get to train them. Even though they never listen and do the opposite of what I say. I was given the task of writing up manuals for each product, as nobody knows how to make this s*it properly, off the top of their heads, like me

I used to be full of enthusiasm and had an itch to learn! But this place doesn't reward you with praise or promotions. So nowadays, I plain and simply don't give a s*it. I've been here for 5 years. I'm thinking of becoming an electrician next year. As the only thing this place had done for me, is give me an insight into electronics. Sort of.

    Re: Work

i work at Glad mfg.. you know,, GLAD force flex (anti tear)trash bags, Press n seal, Wrap, and food(zipper) bags.. well, im in the trash bag section that goes from the little plastic pellets, to being melted, to being rolled up into up to 1300lbs(x number of miles long) of continuous plastic sheet (about a dosen rolls per hour and some scented). And then we have about 30 bag mechines that each takes a roll and unwinded it, plants the red draw tape on the edge, cut/seal to what ever size bag were selling, and then counts how ever many (30 bags, 22 bags, whatever) bags, then puts those bags in the little yellow box that you see in your store..

the cool part is... robots do all the work. we are here to program, find upgrades for machines, and make sure machines put out quality...

basically, we press buttons and watch robots move and wait for them to fuhk up...

awesome job. gotta b one of the best jobs that u can have w/o a degree. almost said u have to be somewhat mechanically inclined but we have such retards that work here lol im retarded sometimes... pay is great for a single guy in arkansas, my first year i made about 40k
ok keep on, its all shits n giggles until sombody giggles n shits....

I work for IBC or Hostess Brands.
I work in the shipping department.
I work a variety of jobs. As that's what part timers do.
I separate the bread and cake on racks and load them onto trucks to be shipped.
I can flip product from larger racks to smaller to accommodate our smaller route trucks.
I can drag racks from one end of the floor to the other. (it's actually a lot more complicated than that, I just don't want to go into it)
