Well outside the obvious things such as keys, wallet, phone, and stuff in wallet. I can never seem to leave the house with out the kiddo unless he is not there with me.

99% of the time where ever I go he follows.

Oh yeah and my legs and arms, it would be hard to open the door and walk out with out those 2 particular items.

I think I actually avoided getting my purse snatched once evening as I was walking down a sidewalk, and part of the reason was the knife. As I was walking, I was carrying a black clutch at my side - easy target. I sensed someone behind me, and sure enough, there was a guy walking a little too close. I got a bad feeling about him, so I pulled my bag to my chest and reached into my pocket (where the knife was) in one clear motion. Immediately, the guy turned down an alley.

It's also useful for opening packages or cutting loose threads. So yeah. I love my knife. It's a little 1" Cold Steel blade. It'd make for an effective punch to the neck, that's for sure.
Your right about pocket knives been useful, I don't know what the laws are in other countries, but in the UK as far as I know it's illegal to carry one and you can be arrested and giving a huge fine to pay, I'm to scared to carry scissors around in my bag because of that law, which is a pain in the butt when you need to ut open drink cartons lol
Drink is also somethng I have to take out with me, a bottle of water everytime I leave the house, I get very thirsty very quickly when I'm out and about, also if im eating out I like to wash my mouth out with water.

My wallet. It holds everything I need and it looks like an NES controller.

My Directory/Cellphone. Because it hold everything else I need.

My keys. To lock up my bicycle.

When my dog got attacked last year, we went to the police about it. We then asked them what the law is on carrying a knife, so that we could prevent our little dog from being hurt again while on a walk. The officer told that we can carry a knife as long as it is less than 2-3" and fully retractable. AND, if you get stopped and searched while you are out, you need to be able to tell the officer why you have it in your possession.

"Well, I'm protecting my dog! He got attacked last year, and I don't want it to happen again!" would be what I would say. Not that I would carry a knife anyway - in my area, it would attract people with bigger knives and guns, and Id be a goner.

EDIT: Oh! And you need to be 18. I'm screwed then for one more year.

Keys also serve another purpose besides just opening locks: they can be used like knives to jab people with. Of course, as Govinda said, knives may be illegal in some places, but keys are most definitely not! So if you're in a place where knives are prohibited, keys work just as well!^^

Some people think that death is the end. But what they dont realize is that its actualy destiny. What can we do about it? Death is peaceful, easy, life is harder. Dream a better dream. End of the world. Some say.It is belived that when death comes, its the end of their relationship. But its only the begining.About 3 things I was absolutly posative:First Edward was a vampire, second there was a part of him and I didn't know how dominant that part might be-that thirsted for my blood and third I was onconditionally and irrevocably in lovewith him. This is the word of the last acient and seventh sage. The word of wisdom. This is the word of RealPrincess Zelda.

Let me see, my phone is an obvious choice. I couldn't leave without that since I might get a call from work or in case of an emergency. My purse is another good one, can't do much without it. My sunglasses, I can't go without them that's for sure. Also, my MP3 player because I love listening to that in the car and the trip will suck without it. That's about it really!

I can't leave my house without my wallet, house key, Nintendo DS, iPod, and a mechanical pencil. My wallet has pocket money, gift cards, military ID, and driver's license. House key to get inside my house of course! I keep my DS and iPod with me so I won't get bored wherever I go. I keep a mechanical pencil with me whenever I feel like drawing.
