    Thanksgiving!

It's that time of the year again, the time where we gorge ourselves on turkey, mashed potatos, and various other delectable morsels of heavenly awesome foodz!

I'm not sure if other countries celebrate it or not, but, I'm curious, What might everyone be doing for the Thanksgiving holidays, and possibly even the intense shopping the next morning; Black friday, the single biggest shopping day of the year.

Thursday, I'll be going out with my family to eat. My family doesn't exactly have the best cooks, and no one like clean-up, so we'll be moseying over to the local Golden Corral Buffet, and chowing down. You get to eat all you want, there's no clean-up, and there's certainly better food than my mom's able to cook xD. Besides, with food costs like they are, it's cheaper to go out anyway, especially with the way I eat.

Friday, I may be hitting the stores EARLY, as I'm going to be, hopefully hunting down an xbox 360! then I'll come home and play Guitar Hero World Tour for the next 24 hours....and that's a real possibility too. When I purchased Guitar Hero 3 (the last game I purchased, actually), I sat down that afternoon and played through the entire career setlist in one stretch, with a 15 minute break in the middle, because I was struggling on Raining Blood and One. (REALLLLY NEEDS A LIFE XD )

But yeah, What's your Thanksgiving, or Fall Holidays, in case Thanksgiving isn't politically correct anymore, plan?

Thanksgiving right now? Am I reading this right?
Kidding. Obvioulsy in Canada we have it in October and I was reading this and thought "what the heck?"
Me, I dont do those real "Thanksgiving" stuff like eating the big turkey for dinner. I live in Canada but my background is korean so I dont celebrate those stuff.

The only thing I do is help bring in food cans for those who dont have enough to eat on thanksgiving. o.O
(Dont knoe wat i'm saying here xD)

I love the holiday season! The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I get out of school early, and then get two days off. Thanksgiving day is going to be spent at my aunt's house like almost every year before. My mom always comes early to help my aunt and uncle with the preparations, even though she brings things that she's already made too.

While those three are making a big fuss in the kitchen, my brother and I play monopoly or chess until he gets tired of it and makes me watch the parade. My guess is there won't be any people other than the five of us this year, but oh well.

Then, around noon, we eat. I get everything made out of potatoes, and everyone else gets that other stuff that people eat on Thanksgiving. We continue feasting for about an hour or two since the eating is always interrupted by talking, then go and hang out in the living room to watch football or the parade together. That's really all we do on Thursday. Nothing interesting, but it's all fun.

The next day, everyone holes themselves up in their houses. My mom will call my aunts (the ones in Canada too), and talk for hours and my brother and I will do nothing since we'll be too scared to go to any stores. Black Friday is THE scariest day for the two of us. We hate shopping, crazy sales that bring in all the crazy shoppers, waking up early, waiting in lines, and we especially hate crazy shoppers. So we stay home, sleep, and eat leftovers.

Then we do nothing else for the rest of the weekend but normal family stuff.

Then I have to leave her hous eearly because I have to be up at 3am black friday because i'm working 5am to 11am. I probably wont shop because I got paid this fri and put money on my credit cards. My mom is bringing me into work seeing as we open at 5am she is prob goin shopping cause we are giving a bag full of full size products away that is usually 106 bucks and you can get it for 15 with a 40 dollar purchase. So she wants one of those LOL.

On Thursday I'll be at work. Not looking forward to that, especially since I'm doing a day shift. It'll probably be busy with all the last-minute people running in to get stuff before shipping off to Grandma's house. My mom's working too so it's not like I'll be missing a nice dinner or something. I get time and a half plus 8 hours holiday pay, so it is worth it. Barely.

I'm staying as far away from my store as possible on Black Friday. I took it off on purpose cause I hate dealing with that shit. I'll probably hang around the house and do nothing.

My mom will probably make a small Thanksgiving dinner for us at some point, just not sure when yet. I was sad that we didn't get to have any turkey last year, so I made a point of asking her to make one. Her fiance usually goes over to his ex-BIL's to have dinner with him and his niece and nephews, which is why we both decided to work the holiday.

Wow, Rikku, Hope you don't go crazy on Friday, haha, I know I couldn't handle it. I'll be surprised if I don't get mildly sick while I'm in the store.

And Bleachie, ha, nice! I have that Wednesday off, and in actuality, the only major things I have on MOnday and tuesday are that I need to turn in my English paper on monday at 1:30, and have a test on tues. but other than that, I'm golden!

Let's see. This Thanksgiving is gonna be a little different than usual, but not anything major.

Start the day off with some football with friends and acquaintances at around 9am. That should last until around 11. Then I'll pick up my maternal grandma from her apartment in the city and take her to our place. Once everyone's assembled, we all head over to my paternal grandma's in Flushing. My stupid aunt and her husband come over, and we start feasting on turkey, keilbasa, stuffing and a plethora of veggies. The men watch football while the women gossip and clean up, and then we have pumpkin and apple pie (which are must-haves) and whatever anyone else brings/ makes. After that, we watch more football, and go our separate ways.

As for friday, I'm sleeping in, and then going to my friends send-off at McGee's (name dropping so Ally can feel cool). It should be a grand ole drunken time.

Tonight, some friends had all their friends at their place for a Thanksgiving gathering, since we will be with our families on the actual day of Thanksgiving. Like any other Thanksgiving meal, I ate too much; I had a full plate of food, and the guy who cut the turkey decided to grab one of the legs for himself. He ended up getting full and eating hardly any of it, so I grabbed it off his plate when he left and ate it. And I secured it all going in my stomach by taking a large bite out of it first thing; that probably was a bad plan. I didn't need to eat all of it. Caught in the moment, doing something ridiculous for the amusement of others.

On Thursday morning, I will drive to my parents' house and watch the parades or the football games. Or maybe Thursday "morning" is too generous a time frame. The rest of the siblings will arrive with their families at about 2, so I may not show up before then. I will likely hang out there all day and be like "Yiy, family gathering!" Then we will wake up early the next day to go shopping with all the crazy people. It's a tradition of ours; I don't even care if I get anything. I will just be using it as an excuse to be hanging out with my oldest brother, most likely, as I don't see him much and he was my childhood hero. *nod* After that, there is a gathering for my nephew's birthday. Probably some football to be watched as well (although the game I usually watch-Arizona vs. Arizona State-is on December 6th this year.) Maybe some sleep will happen, too.

Saturday, I am driving up to Beaverton to watch the Civil War (the Oregon vs. Oregon State game) with my oldest brother, and maybe my other brother as well. Go Beavs!

Last year, I had to work on Thanksgiving, and the Saturday and Sunday afterwards at that damned gas station (I hated that job.) I was amazed at how busy we got, and how cold it was; I think my feet would stick to the ground outside if I didn't move for a short time. I got tipped better than any other day on that day, though. La la la...

I have no idea what I'm doing on Thanksgiving to be honest. There's been a lot of stuff going on between numerous relatives in my family and because of that, it makes things very different this year. I heard my dad talking the other day and we're planning on heading down near the beach to wear my aunt and uncle lives and spend the entire day over there and hang out. The food will be amazing I'm sure. I'm the kind of person that grabs a slice of the pie before eating the turkey. And don't even get me started on the ham. I hope it's honey-baked this year. That would really be the one thing that would make my day.

We don't celebrate thanksgiving here in the UK, which I have always been gutted about, I love a good roast dinner
It kinda sounds a little bit like Christmas to me, a family gathering to enjoy a scrummy roast dinner, just without the presents, the tree and the horrible knitted jumper your granny made you lolz

Haha. Or so you can feel cool because I hung out with you there.

I am starting my Thanksgiving cooking tomorrow (Wednesday). I'm using a slow cooker for some of it, so I have to have plenty of hours to use. Tomorrow, I will be making my cranberry sauce, a couple pumpkin pies, chocolate mousse, and a pecan sweet potato dish. Thursday, we're having Thanksgiving with Dad. I think he's going to do a turkey and I'll serve what I make Wednesday along with corn risotto I'm making the day of. That evening, we're having a bunch of people over, so the food will be out for that in addition to some wassail (spiced punch) I'm making. Friday is Thanksgiving with the moms. Mom will smoke a turkey and I'll come over and help make green bean casserole and dressing from scratch (or stuffing, whatever you want to call it). I'll probably end up making more than one batch of cranberry sauce and sweet potato stuff, but I don't mind. I have plenty.

And I have to work Friday night so I'll have to try and have Thanksgiving that day early so I can get a nap in. I do love the Thanksgiving nap.
    Curious?

Tomorrow, I will be making my Mary J brownies, a couple of onion rings, chocolate mouse, and a pecan sweet potato dish. Thursday, we're having Thanksgiving with Dad. I think he's going to do a turkey and I'll film what I happens Wednesday along with the silly mouse I'm making the day before. That evening, we're having a bunch of people over, so the film will be out for that in addition to some Gin & Juice (spiked punch) I'm making ( with my mind on my money and my money on my mind!). Friday is Thanksgiving with the moms. Mom will smoke a blunt and I'll come over and help make the munchies and doritos from scratch (or stuffing, whatever you want to call it). I'll probably end up making more than one batch of munchies and doritos and stuff, but I don't mind. They get hungry!

And I have to work Friday night so I'll have to try and have Thanksgiving that day early so I can get a rap battle with B-Rabbit in. I do love the Thanksgiving rap.
Damn, thats some crazy stuff going on.

As for me, wellll I get to sit around, hang out with a few friends back from la univercitydad, at least tomorrow I get to after work and school of course. Next, on thursday, my parents are making a bunch of yummy stuff (my dad especially) and my grandparents and my aunt and her roommate are coming over. possibly my deadbeat dad, though I hope not, since hes kinda a leech and I have no real reason to see him. After that, I'm bouncing over to a close friend and former roommate of mine and after I steal his parents vietnamise delicasies, we will hang out and chill for the rest of the night. the rest of the week? I have no idea.

Thanksgiving is based on what is called The First Thanksgiving. It's part of the settling of our country. The pilgrims landed in Plymouth Rock, massachusetts and they made peace with the indians and they all ate together to celebrate a truce between the white man and the indian. I could go into more detail but thats pretty much the gist of it. There is some controversary on where the pilgrims actually landed but it dosent really matter where they landed. Anyway thats why we have thanksgiving, yes it is similar to christmas without the presents but thats why we have it

Retail, of course. I work at a large chain retail pharmacy. We never close. In fact, the only day the pharmacy itself actually closes is Christmas day. They do close early on most other holidays though, like tomorrow they close at 2. Front store, where I work, is open until 10 p.m. regardless. Hence why I took a day shift instead of my normal night. No way am I going to hang around the store all evening doing nothing cause it'll be dead once the pharmacy closes.

It helps that I have an awesome boss. In exchange for working Thanksgiving day, he's letting me take Black Friday (and the rest of the weekend) off. Granted, I am using up some of my vacation hours to do it, but still. It's even more amazing that he let me do that considering that Black Friday is also truck day this week due to said holiday. It'll be super crazy I'm sure.

Anyways, I've got my plans worked out, more or less, and our Thanksgiving dinner will be on Saturday. It's going to be a larger than normal gathering, which is nice. So far our guests will be my brother, his girlfriend, and their new baby son (he's so cute!), my uncle and his daughter (she's about a year and nine months, now), my Grammy, and my best friend. My mom's fiance will probably be around too, usually he goes to his ex-BIL's for the dinner part with his niece and nephews though.

Either way, it'll be a good day. What with everything that's been going on lately there just hasn't been time to really see anyone. I haven't even seen my best friend since late summer due to him living an hour away and starting his first semester in college, plus holding a full time job.

Well, for us, it's a joint effort of eleven people. We all cook, then eat, then sleep as a result of a triptophan overdose. Or however it's spelled. Then we wake up and eat pie and then have a friendly game of poker. ^^

My plan is to not blow up after eating all that food. I really hope the turkey is kept to a minimum. It has certain chemicals that make people sleepy. It's not all that good for you, either. A little is good for the "spirit" of the day, but after a plate of turkey, I move on to some other foods. So, back to my plan, not blow up. Keeping off the junk is imperative. Maybe that's where the phrase "burn off the turkey" came from. Interesting...

I plan on going to fill out a job application >M<. Afterwards I'm going to help my mom cook dinner, by making my world famous Mac&Cheese, and Sweet Potato Pie. Mom got the turkey late, but its BEAUTIFUL, nuff said. We also got stuffing, Marshmellows&Yams (^_^), the 2 I mentioned above, homemade Mashed Potatos, and much more. I feel hungry already XD. Hope you all have a good thanksgiving
