    Holiday Tunes and Smells...

    Happy Holidays, everyone.

Just wanted to check what songs you play to mark the occasion. Specifically, that warm comfort food and holiday song that makes the winter outside less ugly and cold. I used to bring a plate full of stuffed Mushroom caps filled with sausage and oysters and, of course, Bourbon Bon-Bons. That was back when the Holidays were awesome.

    And my songs were:

    Carol of the Bells

    Winter's Wassail

    Holly and the Ivy

    Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella

    EDITEDIT(keep editing this)
But I couldn't have this post without the following song:

    EDIT:
    Ingredients:

1 cup fine vanilla wafer crumbs(Nilla)
    1 cup finely chopped pecans
    1 cup confectioners' sugar
    2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup bourbon(get Maker's Mark, and don't ***** out, add that extra dollop)
1 tablespoons plus 1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup
    confectioners' sugar, sifted

    Preparation:
Thoroughly combine 1 crushed vanilla wafer crumbs, chopped pecans, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, and the cocoa. In a separate bowl, blend the bourbon and corn syrup. Stir this bourbon mixture into the dry mixture; blend well. Cover and chill for at least a few hours. Sift about 1/2 to 1 cup of confectioners' sugar on a cookie sheet. Shape small bits of the dough into balls and roll them in the confectioners'. Store in refrigerator in tightly covered containers. Make these a few days in advance for best flavor, and roll in confectioners' sugar again before serving, if desired. These can also be frozen for longer storage. Makes about 3 dozen bourbon balls. For an added touch, freeze them and dip them in some dipping chocolate from a double-boiler

I'm not giving out my Mushroom Cap recipe...top secret.

    Oh, and Merry Christmas.

    Merry Christmas to you too!

    Songs:

Carol of the Bells <- I love how that one sounds, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra version is awesome as well.

I'll Have a Blue Christmas Without You (sad, but I still like it)

the Little Drummer Boy - My childhood favorite

    Those are my top three, I may edit this later with more. >.>;

As for food, my family's Italian so the big classic for me is Italian sausage and peppers. That and sweet meatballs.

Side note, but I also love the smell of a real Christmas tree.

When it comes to christmas and tunes the one thing I can think of is Walking In The Air (from: The Snowman) - YouTube. Not easy to sing along to though.

Regarding food, I have adopted the german tradition of Glühwein and Lebkuchen(mulled wine and spicy biscuits for the uninitiated). But traditionally the warm comfort food I have always loved for those cold, wet and incredibly dark winter days in december would be my mothers traditional irish casserole. Not a dish food connoisseurs would consider apt but for me theres nothing like it.

It is if you have the pipes for it. This one is a piece of cake compared to Panis Angelicus. I know I had to spend a few weeks to get every note perfect, especially since I don't normally speak Latin. Anyway, I prefer Chloe Agnew's version of Walking In The Air.

As for other Holiday tunes; Let It Snow and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas are my favorites.

I keep thinking of really good Christmas songs. So I'll bump the thread with one of the very best. A Christmas song sung by two beautiful chic lesbians.

    YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

I love a big roast dinner. Lamb, pork, chicken, roast vegetables and the greatest thing of all, gravy. Mmmm. And for dessert this year, I'll attempt to make a trifle. And some sticky date pudding with icecream. I don't care if it's really hot on Christmas day! I will be having me a roast dinner! Not a Christmas BBQ with cold meats and salad! It's Christmas! Lol.

Ribbe and Medisterkaker for me. That's pork belly and pork parties, potatoes and meat balls. My family have always had this my grandma insists. I'm half Norwegian and their Christmas rules. My dad still does some British stuff, though. I also love black forest cake with cream.

As for music I'd say the only song that Sticks out is the Pogues- fairytale of new York.
