*I've watched/helped this facebook group grow from under 200 to over 2,500. I was able to get it stickied on Bodybuilding.com's Misc section(top 25 trafficked forums in world) and her support continues to grow. Please help her!*

Lizzie Velsasquez has a disorder that doctors do not understand yet and cannot diagnose yet because it is so rare. Please visit this website and see her story. Watch the vid.

    Lizzie's Life - Home

If you can join the facebook group "Help Get Lizzie on Oprah!!" and send this to all of your friends. I do not know this girl, but one of my friend's goes to school with her and knows her really well. We can all benefit from her story.

I can really feel this going somewhere. Please do all you can to support her and help her dream come true. Help get her story out there so more research can be conducted on these types of disorders.

If you really want, you can send Oprah a letter or do anything else possible to help this girl out! I will do everything I can to help her too!

    *Also, keep this bumped!*

Let's get this thread stickied and show her support!

Btw-She left this note in every group members inbox on Facebook:

I?m sitting here thinking about everything that has been happening with my ?Help get Lizzie to Oprah? group and I?m literally at a loss for words. I honestly made the group thinking I would maybe get about 20 people to join and I?d end up taking it down. Let?s just say I was proved wrong to say the least!

The last time I checked I had 1,670 members and it?s continuing to get higher! I have gotten hundreds and hundreds of emails and messages from people all over the world, all wishing me luck with Oprah and telling me how I inspired them. As much as people are telling me I inspire them, all the support I?m getting right now has helped me more than you can imagine.

As corny as it sounds I feel like all my dreams are coming true right before my eyes. Getting the word out about my syndrome and having people accepting it is making everything so much easier for me. I don?t want to get my hopes up about anything but I am so so thankful that all this is happening right now.
I?m trying my best to reply to everyone who sends me stuff but it might take me a while. I really am trying though! Please keep spreading the word and keep checking back for updates! Oh and I updated my website so take a look at that too ☺

..First of all, multiple posting is not allowed in this forum, and neither is bumping (to an extent.)

    Also.. what will getting on Oprah accomplish? >_>;
It'd be more logical to gain funds or something for, I don't know, research into what's wrong with her.

    MistressSheena:

In response to your post, I would like to just say that my intentions are pure. I do not even know this girl. My whole reason for posting this thread here is to spread the word and to get her on the show. I do not like Oprah, and I certainly do not watch the show. Her dream, as stated in her group, created by her, is to be on the show and let others know about it.

Her outlook on life is an inspiration, and it is very much a reality that she could one day be on the show. What the show could do for her, as for more than just fulfill a dream come true to her, I do not know and cannot answer. Money donated to the fund, as well as people giving to more organizations such as this could benefit from her story.

As for bumping and multiple posting: I will try to follow all rules here, as well as try to help this girl as much as I can.

It would accomplish a crapload of attention for starters and Oprah is known for splashing her money around rather altruistically at times. I think as well as the girl's dream being made a reality, it'd also gain a lot of attention to this syndrome and more attention would likely serve to further advances in identifying it more thoroughly.

I'm impressed the girl's telling her story as she has, and personally wish her the very best.

If this was a campaign to get her on the Jeremy Kyle Show I might join in. All she needs is a crack habit and she's a sure winner.

    Your intentions cannot be pure.

I can see Oprah getting very jealous of her ability to keep the pounds off.

Also, as much as Oprah throws her money around, it's not gonna really do much, other than have some raised awareness for a week or two. She'll receive some letters from "touched" viewers and probably have a follow through episode talking about making a charity for the syndrome.

I mean, I do feel bad for the girl, but at the same time, there is a lot of stuff going on in the world that's a lot worse. There are a lot of people who are equally skinny because they don't have any food to eat, yknow, while only maybe a handful of people worldwide actually have the problem she has.

I also feel like there's a catch to this.

Your pessimism turns me on. Like a sexkettle.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (that's the sound of the kettles.)

In any case, feel bad for the girl, but really? She's already been on Maury. And he's like the cute grandpa you always wanted. Good luck to that girl and I hope they find out what's up with her, but I can't see Oprah helping all that much.

Huh? She's been on Maury? Proof?

Don't know where you're getting this information, but I just looked up anything I could on Youtube and Google and found nothing of the sort.

There's no catch to it. I don't know her and I certainly do not know you either. You can join if you want, invite friends, etc. Or you can choose not to join and do nothing.

Honestly, I've exhausted myself from spending hours trying to campaign support for a girl that I do not know and that does not know sh** about me. I'm done and have gotten way too many negative responses from this whole thing

Go ahead and just close this thread. I'm officially done with trying to help her.

The only good thing is that it started with under 200 people and now there are about 3,500 and she feels loved, supported, etc. Life is meaningless. The end.

You've gone through all that and some posts on an obscure forum put you off the whole thing and, er, life itself?

I mean OMG NO DON'T GIVE UP

Honestly, I do wish the girl the best. But as I see it she has all the support and care she could ask for. Kids in Africa with cleft pallet can't eat. Make a Facebook group for them instead, and get one on Oprah.

That last comment was unecessary, just like the one I am posting now. (hypcrite/fail)

Anyways, this is the kind of thing that makes me not even care anymore. Ok, my intentions are not pure based on the surefire evidence that you have presented before you. I'm practically a salesman right? I'm helping a girl that lives a few hours away that I do not know. My closest relation to her is a friend that goes to school with her and is one of her friends.

So, yes based on this, you are correct. My intentions are definitely vile and evil. I am the next Hitler and Stalin combined in one synonomous being. And being such a huge fan of Oprah(sarcasm) and of her weight problems that seem to stir up the world news media, I hope to go on the show with her as an unknown anonymous bigot that knows nothing except that my intentions are unpure because I was told they were so by yourself. Thanks.

For someone with a cause, you have sure given up quickly. This is very interesting but doubt much will come of this no offence. Hopefully everything will work out for this person. But good luck with your cause, you seem somewhat almost passionate about it. If you feel that strongly about something dont give up so easily. But on a different note, peoplearound here would be more willing to act more kindly if they actually knew you. But seeing the first post you made was this one it is kind of hard for any of us to jump ship and join your band wagon.

Appreciated, but do not want to do anymore. You and many others have pushed me past the limit of caring. I wish her the best as well. She will never understand the hours I've put into helping her for seemingly no reason or self gain. And no, that is not pessimistic self-pity. I have put in a lot of time, no, not blood or sweat. I do not consider myself even doing the right thing. I'm just a 19 year old guy who apparently had nothing better to do in his free time, but try to gain support for a girl with a disorder.

One more thing. The coolest thing about this whole experience is when I started posting her info(my first post basically) on Bodybuilding.com. It somehow went to 4chan.org, for better or most likely, worse. Within the first 24 hrs the group grew approximately 400 people, and just right now has exceeded 3,500 within several days. I remember adding her as a friend on facebook, still not knowing her and seeing her status change to "loved" or something. Her self-esteem and confidence seemed to have been given a significant boost. For that I am happy and I appreciate and thank anyone else who has taken their time to spread the word, even if she doesn't get on the show. At least we made somewhat of a difference in her life, however long that may last.

Don't take them serious pal. They're just trying to crush your spirit, likely as they feel what you're doing likely won't go anywhere. But the fact that you and possibly others are trying to help the girl out from the goodness of your heart does mean something, even if the result you wanted isn't achieved. If you draw enough attention to your cause, I reckon some people might start talking around and at the very least some awareness will be raised.

And Meier Link's right. If you'd posted an introduction thread and talked around a bit more, there'd likely be a few more sympathetic to your cause.

To the rest of you, don't be so ****ing cynical. The guy's trying to do a good thing, and you're pouncing on him like animals. Yes this is just the internet, yeah his actions may not accomplish much if anything, but it sure as hell don't mean you have to be assholes.

Consider your moral high ground claimed, Nathan.

I think the girl is being given as much care as she could ask for, that's all. It's a shame, but in her video she seems to have a good, strong support network. There are literally millions who do not. That's all we cynical assholes are trying to get across.

Like I said, you seem to have a cause why give up so easily, have you been accepted the same on other forums also?

Stick around and get to know some of us before you request something like this, it will help.

Sorry if many do not take to this but it does seem kind of hoakey with this topic being your first post on this forum, and I am sure you have done the same else where. But your intentions do seem twards the good nature. And I am sure the girl would be grateful of your efforts if she knew.

If you are that passionate about someone you don't even know you have a few notches of the cool point belt in my eyes. I really think you shouldn't give up so easily, but like I said get to know some of us before proposing anything to us. It would be like me coming to your house and saying "Buy my cookies" all dressed in black head to toe (where you can't even see my face).

Ah, we’ve succeeded in turning this into an opportunity to preach and snipe at one another. Santa is watching.

Aaaanyway. Rockguitarist, if you'd like this reopened, PM me. And stop double posting, because shit, son. But for now, I don't really want to moderate a debate on whether or not other TFFers are assholes. Or how fed up this guy is with people and life (and if he should be), for that matter.

    Threeeaaad cloooooosed.
