I definitely agree with that. I've seen people that don't fit in with the stereotype in any way whatsoever, yet when caught crying or talking about something that's hurt them it's considered "emo". Which pisses me off a little, really... That's not emo. That's completely standard emotion. Everybody gets sad and all.

As for the butterknife thing.. Not sure what to say about that. I agree with you in the sence of those that are doing it for attention, but I've seen people that are legitimately self-harming barely pierce the skin. People cut for different reasons and all. Different ways, too. Some burn. But yeah... Butterknife scratches shouldn't be passed off as entirely 'nothing' in the sence of those that aren't doing it for attention.
