I think the best kind of music to put me in a certain mood is based by what kind of techno/trance/electronica song it is. These types of tracks are what alters my emotions the best. DJ Tiesto's In Search Of Sunrise: Asia is a good example of this. DJ Tiesto put together two CDs of trance music, the first disc being all mellow and easy on the ears, with a hint of asian flavor to it. That CD is a good one I listen to if I'm relaxing or readying to go to bed. The other CD represents the nightlife of Asia, and therefore is harder-hitting, faster paced, etc. That CD I usually play while I'm driving, playing video games, or while I'm trying to get into a better mode of concentration.

It really depends on what mood I'm in, as well as what type of music I'm in the mood for (I go through "music stages" where I just listen to one band/genre or a group of bands for an extended period of time).

Generally, for me, it's acoustic, a soft-sounding type of rock (not soft rock), and that sort of thing.

Although, lately, I've been listening to stuff like Acoustic Alchemy and Sunn O))) to relax. A little bit of Elliott Smith here and there as well.

    Both wonderful.
I'm a big fan of anything set in with Victorian. Classical, Alice In wonderland type stuff, Emilie Autumn. It makes me happy, relaxed, in a good mood, energetic. You know.

I prefer melodic music. If I really want to relax, I'll throw in one of these albums:

    Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther
Land of Talk - applause cheer boo hiss

If I'm studying.. I usually listen to anything by Mike Oldfield or Eugine McGuinness

Yup. I highly recommend everything I just said.

I tend to relax with something around the late 60's early 70's Psychedelic Rock scene. Focusing more on The Doors and The Beatles because their songs are so indulging and invigorating. 'Riders on the Storm' is a classic, and nothing beats relaxing with the 'pitter-patter' of rain lightly playing through speakers as Morrison begins to sing with his infamous Baritone vocal work... "..Riders on the storm....".

Another good band is Incubus, especially 'Are You In?' from their Album 'Morning View', ahhh such goodness.

I find classical music like Mozzart etc and any instrumental music relaxes me, besides i mainly only listen to the music and not the words of songs so this just cuts the words out all together.

Don't really know the genres that well but here goes

Me, mostly korean pop or modern songs that we listen to everyday. Some canadian as well though I have no particular interest in them. Mostly songs from Big bang, DBSK, SS501, Hyo RI, and so on

Next is those jap anime songs. Especially ones from Gundam Seed Destiny. No, I'm not really an anime fan now but the songs I'm stuck to from a couple of years back. And instrumental version of them. Currently trying to learn to play Fields of HOpe song

Classical intrumental, not really. Allthough I have to play them for I play few instruments here and there. Not a particaulr interest. Some can be too slow and long.

My music helps me relax. Doesn't matter who it is, or what type of music it is, it relaxes me. Someone elses music, however... >.<

Lying on my bed, with the good old headphones plugged in, with the music on full blast (not to the point when the music gets that fuzzy noise), and with a cold drink. Yup. Maybe some crisps too.

I love ambient music when it comes to relaxing.

Earth, Godspeed you! Black Emperor, Alex DeGrassi, Dub Trio (Exploring the Dangers of), Buckethead (Colma, Electric Tears), Steve Reich (Piano Phase), Steve Roach and Sunn O))) are the usual bands I listen to when I need to relax.

I have a retardely long playlist called "slow" on my Zune that consists of...

Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Staind, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Bush, Counting Crows, Fuel, Hendrix, Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and a host of other names. It's what I generally listen to when depressed, which is practically ever minute of every hour I'm at home or at work.

For changing my mood around... some harder Metallica, the Crue (Kickstart My Heart gets me going every time) Rush, Triumph, Flogging Molly, some Epic Metal, SOME Floyd (Most of it depresses the shit out of me) ACDC, etc etc.

  22. #52
If in need to relax I more often than not put on an instrumental piece.
Some of the slow classical pieces work wonders... Pearl Harbour OST, Titanic OST, FFX Ending, George Winston piano pieces etc...

I like something which can just lull over me and I don't have to worry about digesting the lyrics. Although on occasion I do listen to like depressing songs. Amazingly it doesn't depress me but actually relaxes me.

    Following the path for truth...

Ambient and new age for me. :3 Arcana and Enigma. <3 Some movie soundtracks work well, too, like Concerning Hobbits from LotR.

I really like Piano music, so I have a few favorites on my ipod when I really want to relax. I also like to listen to it when I go to sleep sometimes, and I usually end up getting a really good sleep. I really like Kylelandry on YouTube, he has a really good variety of songs up. I have quite a few of his songs in my playlist that I turned into mp3's. Soundtracks too.

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

Well I like listining to 'Goddamn Electric Bill' it helps me fall asleep:] and when I feel all excited and happy its more of Alice in chains or Nirvana. Music can make me feel sad, angry or almost any emotion instantly it just has this huge impact on how I feel.

When i feel sick or depressed I like to just blast Guns n Roses or Sublime If I have a headache I need really smooth music I dont think I would be able to stand any screamo in that situation

I too love piano music, stuff like FF soundtracks, anime soundtracks, movie soundtracks, etc and just general classical music. Soft/softish songs help me to relax too... 'Dying' by Hole is a good one for that.
