I just started watching Naruto recently, and a friend has sent me episodes 1-50 in Japanese w/ English subtitles and I watched them all in no time! This is a seriously addicting anime with great use of humor, action, and drama all in one. Plus... IT'S ABOUT NINJAS!!! Can't beat that!
http://www.naruto-kun.com/
You should definitely check out Samurai Deeper Kyo. It reminds me alot of Berserk and Ninja Scroll, yet with cleaner graphics. Actually, I believe the same guy who does Guts' voice in Berserk does Demon Eyes Kyo's voice in Samurai Deeper Kyo.
Anyway, check that out. It's good.

I would recommend
Mahoromatic
Love Hina,
Godannar,
Chromartie High School,
and Saiyuki
Those shows are some of my favorites.
I've only see maybe three or four anime series', so I can't really recommend a whole hell of a lot. I'm not going to bother mentioning any of the movies, because.. uh.. I dunno. Anyway, my favorite anime at the moment is Fate/Stay Night. It is probably the most beautifully drawn anime I have ever seen.
Neon Genesis Evangelion was... okay. I didn't really enjoy it, but a lot of people seem to. I'm not sure if anyone else mentioned it, I just scrolled through the listing quickly.
Let's see. I just started watching Chobits and I'm on episode 4, but it makes me laugh enough for me to recommend it. Light-hearted and not very serious. And they talk a lot about internet porn sites. I'm fairly sure people would enjoy it.
I'm spent.
I would defiantely recomend Trigun and Ruroni Kenshin. Two of my favorite animes of all time. There's also Hellsing, and .hack Sign. That's it for now.

Ok then, I will give the fan subs a go when I have got my new HDD, unless of course somebody could send me the 1st 2 or 3 episodes.
I quite like the concept behind it but from that ad alone made me chringe, after reading that review makes me see why its been butched so bad. Americans. Anyway this is what I didn't like:
- The Rap music obviously (People who watch anime are into Rap?)
- Some of the imagery, nobody looked like a real pirate
- It gave off the impression it was going to be another pokemon/yu-gi-oh
But I have yet to see the original nor the dub but I hate how they butcher Anime, I am so glad they didn't butcher Berserk or Full Metal Alchemist or did they?

The thing is, I feel like One Piece breaks the mold as far as pirates go, there are some designs that are really out there (but I personally like it), but some like Shanks and Gold Roger fit the bill quite nicely. Much like Dragonball, Oda's designs have that "instantly recognizable" look which you just can't see imitated by other artists. And even though Oda would NEVER admit it, he can make unique characters each and every time that don't simply look like so-and-so's face with so-and-so's hair like Toriyama has a habit of doing.
The thing is One Piece could've been GREAT dubbed. I feel like Anime which places a focus on stuff outside of Japan (people, names, objects, etc) tend to sound better in English especially because they could get people with accents to represent the different ethnicities while Japanese dialog really can't do that (at least from a non-English speakers POV).
It's funny you mention FMA, I remember telling someone once that I'd call OP a slightly lighter hearted FMA with a bit of Dragonball (and yes I mean the original DB not DBZ) mostly because the voice actors while terribly poor in the dub SHOULD sound more along the lines of FMA's excellent voice cast. As well as the fact there's plenty of mature themes like Death, Religion and Racism. I'd probably also compare OP to the likes of Terry Gilliam's Baron Munchausen or Time Bandits. I'd have to say One Piece has a really nice balance of fantasy and realism. It's obviously fantasy with gushy moments (especially in the movies), but at the same time, it's hard to deny the "real" themes they present and they don't sugarcoat it.
EDIT: Oh and the music. While a lot of the Japanese music is a great symphonic score on par with PotC, I think the first opening theme sucks IMO and isn't that much better than the Rap song (by the time you get to 2nd opening though...). Like you, I tried watching the dub, and liked the concept but I could CLEARLY see what was being withheld (even the edits are sloppy) and cut.
EDIT2: Found a couple interesting Youtube videos
A scene in OP done with the Sub and then the Dub. See the difference for yourself
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkPdGKRhFTI
Oh and this is just a good scene, period.

I eventually want to do that myself. A sort of "Best of One Piece project" Get some of my favorite scenes and then upload them to Youtube.
I'm a huge fan of the One Piece sub and a planned destoyer of the dub and I have to say the only difference between those two scenes was that the first one had cursing.Originally Posted by Cain Highwind

I agree, but still, the scene shows how bad Sanji SOUNDS in English. The different attack names, little pieces of the scene cut. And of course the music.Originally Posted by TomStrife

i would recommend things like
Fruits basket<- it's cute!
Gravitation<- good music & it's cute
Full metal alchemist<- a good adventure anime
dose Final Fantasy VII advent children count?
I believe that true love is stronger than all magic.
Man or monster, the difference is often just a matter of hides and scales.
Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't. Those are the true words of life.
Rurouni Kenshin: has comical Romance, historical backround, and action(my favorite)
Trigun

Bleach! Bleach! Bleach! its the best Anime ever invented and its also a Manga series, it has bizarre stories and a little gore but thats whats so great about it, plus the main character has a huge sword, what more do you want?
And FullMetal Alchemist is a good show too, you should watch them both.

Haha I can see what you mean, though the differance isn't huge it is still noticable. I don't know if it was cause of my speakers but the english dub sounded terrible, the guy sounds like a retard.
Well I am not going to go out of my way to Watch it as I am more into the Mature anime but if I see it on TV I will give it a go. I Need some new anime to watch anyway
Chobitserverted Humour. (Almost Slight Soft Hentai)

I would recommed Read Or Die. Both the OVA and the Series. I have them both and one of the mangas. Its creative and has people for heros you wouldn't think should be heros. Lol, its just great![]()

I'm going to be honest and say I don't fancy anime. However, I do watch, and very much enjoy 'Cowboy Bebop'.![]()

Cowboy Bebop is quite an excellent show that most of my friends in the anti-anime movement enjoy.
I honestly am quite exstatic about the finale premiering this coming Saturday.

Oh jeez, this list could go on and on and on!!!!
Let's see, I recommend such titles as Inuyasha, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka 7, Ghost in the Shell, The Evangelion Series, Patalabor, etc.
I also recommend both the american Robotech Series and the original Japanese Macross. Ranma 1/2 goes without saying, and should be included at some point in any anime lineup. I could continue on but these would be a good starting point.

A pretty good one that I just saw recently, Tsukuyomi Moon Phase. If you like stuff like D.N.Angel, it is a pretty decent one that caught my attention. rundown:
Hazuki, a young vampire who longs to be free of a castle she is imprisoned in for many years, finally finds and attracts someone so spiritually dense that he can walk through the barrier protecting the castle. That person being a paranormal photographer for a not-so-well-known paranormal magazine, Kouhei, he attracts spirits, but doesn't sense or even feel the spiritual presence of anything. After becoming free of Schwartz Quelle castle, Hazuki follows Kouhei and the others back home to Japan, only to be followed by more vampires trying to put her back in the castle.
It is a silly-love type thing, and quite entertaining to watch, not as gory and violent as what I am used to watching, but good nonetheless.
Another I would recommend is Hellsing.
The rundown:
It follows the story of Alucard, a hunter of the supernatural in the direct control of the "Royal Order of the Protestant Knights, Hellsing", which is led by Integra Hellsing, the latest leader of the organization. They are later (not much later) joined by Seras Victoria, a former rookie cop who decided on her own free will to be a vampire under Alucard, and is often referred to as "police girl" by Alucard, and Walter C. Dornez, a retired member of the Hellsing organization who is proficient in killing his enemies with razor sharp wires. Among the protagonists are two major antagonist groups, the Iscariot Organization (Vatican Section XIII) who, obviously, hate the protestants, as they are all roman catholic, and Alucard even being attacked by their members, such as Alexander Anderson, a Paliden of Iscariot. Later, they delve into the real enemy of Hellsing, the Millennium Organization, a group formed back in World War II as a way to use Vampires/Werewolves/other supernatural beings to try and turn the tides of war in the favor of the Nazi's, but after the war went into hiding. Led by former SS and other underground Nazi leaders, they plan on starting an endless war to throw the world into chaos.
NOIR, Escaflowne, Steel Angel Kurumi (1st series), Najica, and Louie the Rune Soldier.
i saw a lot of anime but Kenshin is my all time best .
I would totally recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's quite weird at times but that's what makes it great. I started watching it on Adult Swim one night and thought it was great. I got the DVD boxed set pretty recently and watched the whole series in a few days. I loved it, it's so dramatic and depressing most of the time. I have the ending movies as well and there's not much of a happy ending lol. The characters are all pretty cool and it has a lot of action in it. Very cool show.![]()

I recommend the Blue Gender series (not the movie though as it's just a poor shorten version of the series).
-It's got heart all the way through and bucket loads of action. It's so good I suggest buying it on DVD.
On a similar not I highly recommend the Manga Battle Angel Alita and Battle Angel: Last Order (the latter being a remake of the series end [by that I mean it changes the last two books in to another series entirely following Alita)]).
There's an OVA of the first two books to buy aswell (VHS only), which I love to bits.
My recommendations:
