Go down to Blitz and press "A", or the equivalant that selects the command. The arrow will then move to Sabin, and you press <-, ->, <- and then press "A" after that to confirm the blitz. After that, you should be set to go. If you can master the Blitzes, you'll find Sabin is invaluable.

Thanks man. that helps me alot. i have another question.
when you get half way through the rever were you have to protect
Barrend or somthing like that. and you can chose who's part you take. does that detremen the outcome of the game. or is it another partake of a different character each time.

No, it doesn't determine any portion of the game at all. It's just a two-part "maze" and the worst that will happen is that it'll take you in a circle and back to the same spot. I think the only detrimental thing is that you're likely to get in more battles if you choose the wrong direction.

It's been a while since I've run that part, but I'm fairly certain that it's UP and then LEFT. I could be wrong though. Yeah, that's right. The resident master doesn't remember everything. Sue me.

Cesar, I think that he was referring to the part where you choose from the three scenarios after fighting Ultros. And in that case, there is no impact no matter what order you choose, since you have to go through all three before the game progresses.

My personal preference is to start with the Edgar, Terra and Banon. That scenario is the shortest, as well as the easiest. You still have to protect Banon along the way, but with his Health ability, along with Edgar's Auto-Crossbow, you'll breeze right through to Narshe. Next select Locke's scenario. Here you have to steal from merchants and green soldiers to take their uniforms, which lets you progress further into the city of South Figaro. Eventually you rescue Celes (Be sure to equip her!) and sneak out of South Figaro through an underground tunnel. Head back toward Narshe, take out a boss (use Runic EVERY turn!!!!) and that one is over.

Last, do Sabin's scenario. This one can take a LONG time, depending on what you do along the way. You get Shadow (for a while), Cyan and Gau through the course of the journey, plus confrontations with Kefka himself! After a long trip, everyone meets back in Narshe and a challenging battle scenario begins as you try to defend the Esper from Kefka...

I always started with Sabin... I believe if you do the locke quest before Sabins, it can potentially shorten the time Shadow remains with you, I forget the exact details, but the time shadow leaves is a random percentage (before the falls). If you do Sabins quest at different points will affect that percentage he will leave during a random battle, I also liked Sabin and like to do his quest (consequently the most involved and longest quest) first as to get it out of the way, then the order doesn't matter, I like doing Edgar/Banon/Terra last cuz its nice and short

Wow, you know... I never EVER knew that. However, it makes sense. When you do Locke's, you talk to Shadow, and you're told not to approach him because he'd slit his mother's neck for a nickel. Yeah... that's pretty insulting. Hmm... I'll have to rework my strategy next time I play through and see what happens.

Yeah, I think I read it in Bradygames version of the strategy guide back when I was like in 6th grade... and I memorized it roughly, it may just be a roumer, but I prefer Sabin anyways, and always go first with him... and he stayed with me till the falls every time

but in a coincidence... to test the theory, I did do the other quests in different orders, and I do remember him leaving me before the phantom forest at least once... something like "ive had enough, im out" or along those lines

I'll try to do this without spoilers.

Well, let's see. I'm not sure how far you are, but if you've gotten off of the Solitary island, head to Albrook, if you want, get some stuff. Make sure you have a Jewel Ring. I believe you can also get those in Tzen, your next destination. You'll go there, soon as you enter, you're needed, so follow everyone, you'll find Sabin. After you're done your little quest, the two of you will leave. Now, you can either go to Nikeah, or Mobliz. Nikeah's north, Mobliz is east. Mobliz, you'll find Terra, but you can't do anything just yet. So go to Nikeah. Find the thieves, talk to "Gerad" (hmmm...) and eventually, you're off to South Figaro. Find them again, and go to that cave nearby. Then you'll go to Figaro Castle, do some stuff, and get Edgar. Now you travel through the sand to Kohlingen, find Setzer there, and you proceed to get a new airship. After that, you can either go to Kefka's Tower, or find the rest of the party.

If you already did that, oh well, it'll help the others.

Follow the bird to Maranda. You hear about a knight that passed through town. Talk to Lola. Follow the bird again. Go to Zozo, get the rust rid, head to Mt. Zozo, and kill those bastard bears quickly. Do NOT step on the switch, or you'll get pwned, unless your levels are high enough. At the end, you'll find Cyan, who also tells you where Gau is, on the Veldt. So, head to the Veldt, get Gau. Since you're so nearby, why not get Shadow/Relm. If you didn't wait for Shadow, he's dead, and he ain't coming back. Pass through the Cave in the Veldt, and at the end, you'll find one of them. Beat the boss, and you're in Thamasa. They won't join you just yet. You should have the Striker, which is essential in getting Shadow. What now? I suppose you could go back to Mobliz and get Terra, or perhaps go to the mines in Narshe and get Mog, where all the moogles were before. Also get the Moogle Charm, which is behind where he was standing. He tells you about Umaro, who's somewhere in the Narshe area. I guess it's your choice, you can either get Shadow at the Coliseum by betting the Striker, and then go to Owzer's house to get Relm. Not without an interesting boss fight though. Once you have Relm, put her in your party and go to the Fanatic's Tower. You'll have Strago. Shit, I don't know who's left...

Ah yes. Gogo, on the Triangle Island. Get eaten by the Zone Eater.

After all that is done, you go to the Phoenix Cave, which you find out about somewhere along the way. There, you find Locke. I prefer to get all the other characters first so I have more diversity, seeing as though having 8 is preferable.

    I think that covered everyone.

...well damn. You just saved me all that trouble. I was just thinking the same thing.

And yes, you got all the characters in all the right places with minimal spoilers. Nicely done, and thanks for getting here a bit before me.

Oh, and I'd like to disprove this theory. I did Sabin's first, and Shadow actually left me before the Ghost Train. I'd always had him for the train in the past.

So, there's one of two answers: he got the information backwards, or it's randomly done, and I've always been on the lucky end.

I dunno, you may be right, I just said the chances of him leaving increase or something like that...

I read it in a strategy guide a long time ago... back in middle school in fact around when it first came out... so my memory of the exact details are not what they once were...

though I pretty much memorized the strategy guide from top to bottom because I would read it like a book in my free time. I was (and still am to an extent) rather odd it that I read strategy guides like normal books. They are fun to read

I think one of the Atma Weapons is in the cave on the Floating Continent before it becomes the Floating Continent. For the life of me I can't remember the name of that cave. Cave of Seals?

The second one you can steal from one of the three statues towards the very end of the game. So you still have a chance at this one, at least.
    Hero façade. Villain at heart.

Cave to the Sealed Gate. This is correct. It works wonders when you fight Atma.

Stealing from the statues; also correct.

Merged, as you wished. And you can't do it because you're not the moderator.

i know a secert damn what was o yeah at the part when your talking to banon answer no and go outside and go back and talk to him and say no repeat this ten times then on the 11 time u should have a good item he gives you

  20. #200
Well, I think I know what part you're talking about... when you're Terra in the resistance's cave and you have to tell Banon whther you'll help them, right?

Couple of things wrong with that. First off, it's only three times that you say "no" before something happens. And it's a soldier, not Banon, who gives you the item, a Genji Glove.

    CSX is right.

And on top of that, this isn't really "help" so much as it is a cheap way to get a good item. Certainly it's nice to know that you can acquire a Genji Glove at the Returners' Base, but it's also unnecessary to post it in a HELP thread which has been specifically designated for ASKING QUESTIONS and GETTING ANSWERS. Perhaps you'd like to start up a thread for things like this? You know, little-known facts and such.

    how to save shadow

when you get to the airship and it says jump or wait. then you wait for shadow what exactly do you do cause my time just ran out and i died. And i wanna save shadow.

  23. #203
I believe you have to get there with a little over a minute left or so (not exactly sure). Walk onto the spot where you choose jump or wait and choose wait. Then, just wait there in that spot. He should show up with about 5 seconds left. If he doesn't, then try to get there a little sooner.

You could get there ten seconds before the time runs out. It doesn't matter. You just have to choose wait.

This should have been posted in the helpline. You know, the helpline? That thing that's here for answering questions like this? I'm closing this so you can see it, and then I'm going to merge it into the helpline. Your question's been answered.

Yep, that's when he comes every time. I made the mistake of not having the patience to wait for him the first time I played the game, and he was gone forever. Definitely a bad move, because Shadow becomes very kickass later in the game. Trust me, you'll love him.

Characters in ff6 are only as good as the magicite you use to make them are.
ie: Using Mag +2/level up on Relm makes her less a useful character.

...umm, that has absolutely nothing to do with asking for help or answering a question. And on top of that, you're wrong. You could choose to play without using any esper bonuses at all, and the characters then balance each other out with their individual strengths and weaknesses. Makes the game more of a challenge.

Next time, ask a question. Or answer one. Something.

shadow pretty cool. If you have him at the end you will see his ending along with the other characters
