The earliest I can possibly remember is something on the Commodore 64. My mom tells me we used to play Monster Trivia (?) a lot and a couple other games.
Before the NES, also at the time of the Commodore 64, we had an Atari. I do NOT remember any games I had on it aside from Pong and Empire Strikes Back. At the time, I did not know anything about Star Wars, and I don't even remember anything about the game other than flying about in a snow speeder and running into AT-ATs over and over, hence I know it was Empire.
The first major console I remember playing on was the NES. The first game I really remember playing on it was Ice Hockey, this was around age.... 4, maybe? It was a friend's who lived up the street, I didn't get an NES of my own until a yard sale where I bought one when I was 7 or 8.
I don't recall the year I got my SNES. It was for Christmas, so I'm thinking I was 5, I *think* it was the year it hit the market (1991). Christmas when I was 6 was spent out of town in Arizona, so it may have been when I was 7... but I remember the year I got my SNES I was helping to put presents under the tree and my brother handed me one and said "Here Sean" and my mom flipped, thinking I was going to open it early. It was my SNES, as I later found out on Christmas.
I'm pretty sure I've been "gaming" since I before I can actually recall memories and had much cognitive ability, though.
