    Video Game Tournaments

Ever participated in one, if so how did you fare?

Techno Shop (kinda big deal here) is running PES tournament these days, to my surprise there was a huge feedback, over 500 people entered. As a huge PES fan and once hardcore player I simply couldn't resist the urge to enter and test my mettle, perhaps even win something. Now I know some of you are wondering why PES and not FIFA, honestly I don't know either. Thanks to huge amount of players the tournament itself had to be chopped down into several smaller ones. My biggest issue though is five minutes game where one goal pretty much decides the winner. As it happens my first match was scheduled for today.

I won by default seeing as my opponent didn't have decency to show up, I kinda know the guy, perhaps it's for the best considering how bad he is at PES, still, it's not the same. My next opponent was supposed to be none other than my sisters boyfriend, sadly he got shoot down in the very first round. I'll have a chance to avenge him in couple of days, they are really taking their time with this. As for the organization itself, it was kinda hectic at first, the ambient is great though and the prizes are tempting (various tablets, PS3...). Anyways, wish me luck, I'm gonna need every bit of it.

I would love to participate in a gaming tournament. Unfortunately, the area where I live does not have a big gaming community. People may have consoles to play, but the activities that interest a lot of residents is more of the outside variety. Hunting, fishing, off-road vehicles, and things similar to those are big around here.

On top of that, I don't play games that tournaments feature. I am no good at sports games, and most shooters are unable to hold my interest (I'm decent at the actual shooting aspect of the games though). I do enjoy playing multiplayer Grand Theft Auto IV deathmatches. I am horrible at driving, but the shooting is fun.

There is a tournament at the end of the month in Centerville, Ohio. But...
    a) I have never played Black Ops II.
    b) Centerville is 70 miles away, and it's a two-day event.
    c) Entry fee costs as much as a new video game.

So my chances of playing in a tournament are low. For now.
