I picked this game up recently and it is really fun! Have any of you played this particular MMO (or the offline story?) This is the first Phantasy Star online game I've played out of all of them. If you do play this game, what system do you own it for? and what is your favorite about PSU?
My favorite aspect of PSU is having a variety of weapons and being able to modify them to make them stronger and attach photon abilities to the weapons to provide extra attack. The missions are pretty fun as well, it would probably be even more fun with other people if I actually got the one that I can play online (I have the PS2 version with no network adapter).

i cant even remember the offline story for this anymore. i played it online for a while though! ive still got a few friends from my PSU days, you're a bit late to the party lol. id lost interest by the time the expansion came out for it, i played it for a little, but i was already bored by then. Id be amazed if you still could play it online tbh, surely the servers are long gone for it now
If there were any servers, they are most likely to be the private dedicated servers run by the players. As far as I know, people are still playing Phantasy Star Online 1 on private dedicated servers even though the game is really old.
I am not going to bother with the network stuff on the PS2 since there really isn't much point in doing so these days haha.
