New Details on Persona 5 from Famitsu Interview

With the release of their latest trailer, Atlus has a lot more to talk about and is ready to be more open about their upcoming game. Like with past Persona games, the main character will be transferring into the new school at the start of the year. He is a second year and will be staying in a coffee store run by friends of his parents. He also has some problem that will become trouble if he does not fight it, but they are vague about what it is.

The main character will seem quiet and reserved, but they said this is actually ruse. Anne and Ryuji are the other two characters seen in the trailer and like the main character, they all seemed to have lost their homes. The cat with them is named Morgana, which can transform and is very important to the story. While for combat, they confirmed that all of the characters will have a unique gun used as a range weapon, but apparently aren't real even though they can be used like they are in combat.

The game does take place around Tokyo as hinted by the trailer with the starting location being Shibuya.

Dungeons will be a mix of procedural and hand made dungeons, with the hand made ones designed to give a challenge specifically for the phantom thief with different gimmicks and tricks.

Social links will return, which was a concern some had after looking at the menus in the trailer. It just will be something geared towards the sorts of characters in this game.

The name of the Persona the main character starts out with is Arsene, likely named after Arsene Lupin.

Need more detailssss, these are just trickles. Is the MC the phantom theif?

If definitely seems that way, but I don't think I've read a confirmation of it anywhere. When I saw the phantom thief in the trailer I immediately just assumed it was the main character. It's Persona, so it could true out to be anything.
