    Drakengard 3

Anyone here play it yet? Haven't played the first two, but I did love Nier despite its inherent faults as a budget title...tends to be the case for me. AAA games like most of Nintendo's first party stuff or Final Fantasy, Halo, etc. are good but I generally find more unique experiences in games like Deadly Premonition or Earth Defense Force 2017.

So can anyone tell me how it compares to Nier? Or the other two Drakengard games out of curiosity - may not get a chance to play those. Have heard it's more level structured than open world which is a little disappointing but the combat on the other hand looks deeper and as stylistic as Killer is Dead.

Have been saving for FF10/10-2 but may put that off depending on what others have to say about this game.

I am playing it, and I like it so far. It is linear, in that you start each Verse in one place and have to make it to the end to complete the Verse. It was like this in Drakengard, and probably Drakengard 2 (I haven't played it enough to find out). And like the other games in the series (Nier included), you can upgrade your weapons.

The story, at least to the point I am at in the game, is good. Mikhail is definitely my favorite character. He is nothing like the dragons from the other two Drakengard games. His moment of incontinence was not my favorite though. Anyway, as this is the prequel of the first Drakengard game, I recommend playing it. If you aren't going to buy a copy, I would at least rent it to see if it would be something you'd like.

I loaned out my PS3, so I won't be able to play it for a little while still, but I am very much looking forward to cracking open the seal and diving in.

Mine's still in its wrap as well, but I've been considering cracking it open for the weekend, especially since we're not getting the latest mid-patch for XIV until next week. So I might knock a few hours out on it.

Finally got around to playing it. Thankfully was able to get a physical copy, seems the download takes up lots of space for some reason.

I've enjoyed it so far. It definitely feels closer to a Suda51 version of Asura's Wrath...or something. Not a bad thing at all. Initially disappointed with how easy it was but it's gotten more challenging. Have yet to die but have come close a few times. Perhaps I've been a bit spoiled with both Demon's and Dark Souls lately, but I suppose the trade off here is swarms of enemies and generally having a faster pace.

I am loving it so far. Right now I am halfway through Branch C. They really raise the difficulty level in C. I have died several times in each of the Verses in C. One thing about Drakengard 3 is that if you die during a Verse, they game lowers the difficulty of the Verse for you. So that wave of soldiers pummeling you won't hurt as much the second, or fifth, time.

I don't like Octa. At all. Pervy old man. Someone needs to put him on the Sex offenders list or something.

I do wish that they would release the DLC chapters for Intoner sisters. I really want to know how Two ended up the way she did. They don't go into enough detail to satisfy me.

I finally got into the game this weekend, ended up sucking me in and I played it more than I thought. I'm working on the Branch B now, I want to see where all of this is going. But it's a very quirky and amusing game. It can be so dark at times and so ridiculous the next moment.

I seem to not be so quick, only on chapter three I believe. Mostly I've been replaying levels to get chests I've missed and to grind gold to upgrade weapons as much as I can at this point. Think I might stick to smaller weapons though some large ones aren't a problem with dash canceling.

I'm still in the "Unwrap the Box" chapter because my PS3 is still on loan.

I am envious of the three of you.

Sounds like you to get your PS3 returned to you Loco. ;p

But yeah, the dodge canceling is very nice both for long combos and just general action interrupts when you need to be somewhere else. It's very nice, especially when you discover that it is something you can do. Which is why I often go fists and then triangle into a high combo, since it is pretty rapid fire and I can break it whenever I need to. It's my go to for boss fights.

I finished Branch C this evening, as well as the Lost Verses. Now I just have to grind for cash to earn enough gold for the remaining weapons. Once I get them, Branch D will unlock for me. It was annoying in Nier, and I think it will be annoying in Drakengard 3. There's one in one of Accord's requests, and then four left to buy. I need like 200,000+ gold to buy them. I had hoped to have the game finished before Murdered: Soul Suspect, but stupid grinding is stupid.

I prefer Middle Swords as my weapon of choice, but I have really gotten into using Chakrams lately for the battles against undead and spirits. And like Zero, I am getting sick and tired of fighting all of these Cerberuses (Cerberii?). I'd hate to think at what female dog it was that gave birth to all of these Cerberus. And here I am, hacking off each of their heads like a piece of meatloaf to my fork. But they keep wanting to come at me, so I will keep hitting that Square-Button.

And Mikhail is still my favorite character.

    Loco's pretty loco.

Haven't used chakrams much, nor the spears outside of what's been necessary so far, but I'll probably get around to them. Using them oh ghosts and skeletons seems to be a good idea. I suck at parrying and prefer to dodge than to block.

My favorite character will probably be Zero throughout the game so far as I can tell. I also like Dito a bit more than Decadus and Octa. I don't mind Mikhial as much as I thought I would, as I tend to find kids in games annoying. Even Emil was grating at times though he's nowhere near as bad as characters like Tails or any kids from Bethesda's games. I think it works better here given the subject matter.

I actually played this game series when i was eight years old.....IT. WAS SO MUCH FUN!! I beat Drakengard and Drakengard 2 so many times, I can pretty much remember everything that happened from start to finish with a little bit of memory jogging. I didn't understand a lot of things untill i got in my teens (obviously) but if there was anything I loved about the games is that there is so much emotion in them, and they are also so unique from MANY other titles ive played. I have waited almost ten years for Drakengard 3, and I swear upon my own well-being that I will get this game!!
