Oh yeah, I did that.

Haven't seen one like this yet, 'less I passed it. =3 *Inspired from Zero's one thread, and some other thread. xD
Anyway, I know a lot of people have sat there playing video games when suddenly, before their eyes, the screen fades to black, they hear a scream of agony, or "You Lose"/"Game Over" appears right there on the screen. Happens to me a lot, and I'm always there going, "What the hell just happened?" I killed myself, supposedly, but I'm not sure how. ^ ^;
The stupidest way I've died in any video game was when I was gaming with one of my cousins. We were playing a fighting game and I was totally winning. My health bar was nearly full, but I got my cousin's down to so low that one more hit would have killed him. I wanted to end it with something spectacular, so I jumped up and attempted to crush his character and win. But...the place I chose to execute my attack was a baaaaaad place, because right behind his character was a hole...I jumped right into that hole and my entire health bar depleted in less than a second. YOU LOSE! <<
Oh, I also remember once when I was playing some kind of adventure game, I think, and I jumped down into an area with lots of enemies. Right as I was about to jump out onto the other side, my character froze due to some unknown reason, and an enemy jumped up to me and killed me. =3
Anyway, anyone with good death stories in video games? I find stupid ways are humorous. xD

Ok on dissidia my character equipment was for characters 80 levels lower than me, and I was fighting lvl100 maximum onion knight. I can't get hit or I will automatically die, and I was powning him until his last chance saved him,and I went for the finishing blow as I got in melee range I saw him setting up thunder,I guarded it and it went behind me to turn around and strike, and since I recently lost my dangerously lucky he killed me even though I had full health and about 5000 bravery(I got pissed and did zidane's tempest->vortex->storm impulse a lot of times) and he still broke me and instant killed me

Probably the best game I can think of that had some funny "deaths" would be a game called Pacman 2: The New Adventures. The game itself was pretty terrible, but the redeeming factor was that you could torture the living hell out of Pacman. I actually never finished the game, because I was too busy making Pacman's life miserable.
Here's a video of some different stuff you can do:
Click at your own risk.:
I remember another now. I forget the game, but I was playing multiplayer with my sister. She jumped up into the air to retrieve something, and I followed, but then she landed early, bounced off the head of my character, and sprung up to the spikes on the ceiling. xD I laughed, but I think she was pissed.

When I think of deaths, there is only ONE thing that I am constantly reminded of...
I am, of course, talking about the HORRORS of Eggmanland Day Stage 1 on Sonic Unleashed. Anyone who's played KNOWS. They KNOW. o_O
Literally, any direction you turn is a death trap. Bring as many lives as you can from the temples, you'll be needing every last one of them to get through this ONE SINGLE STAGE! I despise this course, it is THE most ingeniously evil, lethal, and unforgiving stage on Sonic history... >_>
The fault goes on the live count, really. Sonic Unleashed works in a strange way in that you can "permanently" find lives in the temples. You start with 3, like any game. But, unlike most games, these are never spent, really. The only time they come into effect is when you die on the stage. So, if you have 4 lives coming into one stage, then going into another, you'll have the 4 lives. Even if you shut the game off, and lose all of them, you'll restart with 4 lives. You find live capsules in this game, which adds one permanent life to your total, allowing to you survive in a stage longer. I didn't know about this, and had only the 3 lives.
So, basically, I'm looking at this. I can sustain hits from enemies as long as I have the following set up:
1. I have at least 1 ring. They decrease in increments of 10 when you are hit, so having a lot is helpful, and the stages have plenty to spare.
2. I am not over a pit when I am hit. Its simply over if this happens, and it happened a LOT.
3. The stupid jumps doesn't land me in the bottomless pit of despair. It happens. At a later point in the stage, you have to do some jumps, which are pre-determined. There's a small chance the game will shove you off course and you fall to your death.
What a high-maintenance stage... I've never seen so many BS excuses to kill me. And the stage is the longest in the game, too. That always helps, right? Not even the final boss stage was this hard... >_>
Its split into several segments...
1. Going through some pathways to lead to a carnival-like ferris wheel.
2. Going through a roller coaster ride, leading to a factory.
3. INSIDE the factory, being chased by a mini-boss. (BTW, you don't actually fight the boss, its all a trick as is really a survival stage.)
4. After the boss, inside the lava core, doing crazy jumps and creating a bridge of enemies to Homing Jump on.
5. Deeper inside the core, and this is more factory-like.
6. Jumping on a rocket to fly into a hole. (You must be precise or you DIE.)
7. Then, you go into this central core area, down a very long pathway that winds and has gaps. The entire time you're dealing with missle-launching asshats. HOMING missle-launching asshats!
8. After THAT, its basically the final stretch with every threat imaginable on screen at the same time. We've got missle, death traps, bottomless holes, thousands of enemies, more jumping, somersaulting through a ring and hoop, creating ANOTHER bridge of enemies with Homing Attacks, and jumping over a very large gap. Only possible with the charge, and if you're off, you're dead. After all that s***, its the final long staircase, and you get to the goal.
...F***. o_O
I'm supposed to do all that in 5 minutes to get the Gold? F*** that s***! O_o This level can suck it hard! D8<
But, I managed to beat it. After, what? 8 trillion deaths? Maybe + 1... I hate this level... and I always will. Even with my newly-obtained 7 lives... I don't see me doing this in the next millennium...
Thanks for making the most near-impossible level EVER, Sega... >_>
So, yeah. There's my death story. I am forever plagued by that level...
IT. CAN. DIE!
I'm going through a bit of a The World Ends With You phase right now.Click THERE:
I was playing Assassin's Creed 2 and was doing some random building climbing. One thing I hated about the game was when the controller died, the game didn't pause. So I'm attempting to jump off a high tower into water. So I get the run and Right before I step off the control Dies...Ezio walked about 2 more steps right off the building and died lol
Near the end of the first Bioshock, when you're collecting parts for the suit, I found this large button with a sign nearby with the picture of a little girl on. So I pushed it. And I died. It really freaked me out as I started imagining what exactly it was that had killed me. Did I start turning into a little sister but ended up being killed because my body was too big for the transformation or something like that? It was really abrupt and bizarre. Probably why I remember it so well.

Shs.
It was when I was playing Halo3. Me and a group of my friends were on live going through the campaign. There was a drop off, and we had to go down it. Everyone jumped down it no problem. I go to jump off, and die the minute I hit the ground. Everyone was just like the WTF. I didn't know what to say. But I did get very pissed off over the situation.
Another one was during the first Assassin's Creed. I was jumping around on building tops. I jumped and slipped instead of him catching himself like he was supposed he dropped. I feel very far down, and died. Sill assassin...
playing the first assassins creed i climbed the church steeple in acre, the highest point in the game. and when i was ready to jump off, it didnt quite line up correctly so i fell and died 2 feet left of the bail of hay. it was like one of those outtake moments in a movie

Pretty much that entire difficulty setting is one gigantic hilarious death sequence. All I have to say is I would seriously like to punch the genius who scripted Sheva's AI right in the Adam's Apple. Sheva is standing right next to me. Not like 3 feet away, literally, within centimeters, and somehow a non-projectile enemy nearly 30-40 feet away is more important than resuscitating me, leaving me for dead then surprisingly screaming "CHRIS!!" like she's so sad. Bitch.
Final Fantasy V
I was fighting X-DEATH and I didn't realise I had my cursor on my own payers( I have it on memory too). Yeah, I think the rest is pretty obvious.. I forgot to save before it too So it really ticked me off.

Hmm. I didn't exactly die, but this was just epic:
Me and my brother were playing GTA IV. He had the controller, and he was flying a helicopter. I've asked for a go, and he passed me the controller... but jumped out of the helicopter in the process just to spite me.
So I was falling from a great hight - he was trying to get on top of the tallest building in the game. That should have been instant death. But... I didn't die. I'd managed to get Nico to fall and land on someone standing in the street, instantly killing them. The health bar had depleted almost completely, but I was still alive.
Me and my brother jumped up and high-fived, and was laughing about it... but I'd just killed someone. During our celebration, a police officer came up behind Nico and arrested him. Bummer.
I don't tend to die very much in video games, or the deaths are just too standard to be worth mentioning. *shrug*
EDIT: Ohmai. How could I forget this? :
That was a shock, but then again... that was very stupid of me. Oops? ^^;
Hmm...despite my habit of stumbling into boss battles woefully unprepared, I can honestly say I really don't die in games very often. It may take me an insane amount of time, but I can usually prevail. Every once in awhile though...
I remember a lot of inadvertent leaps from the edge of stages in the first two Super Smash Bros, and the amusing results of being trapped between, say, two Pokemon for an extended period of time. Or being shot into orbit by a passing Arwing.
Oddly, never once did I fall to my death in Assassin's Creed, but Assassin's Creed II...it's like Ezio just ignores me sometimes. He insists on leaping to his death on a fairly regular basis. Quite irritating really, but it can be rather amusing if it's from a high enough altitude. Oh, and that time I crashed Leonardo's flying machine into a Venice canal.
Oh, I remember one that was kind of amusing. FFX, at the end of the game. I spent a ton of time beefing up Aeon stats cause I liked being cheap and Grand Summoning an Aeon already in Overdrive for quick wins on bosses. And then....yeah. Ow. Total party wipe in less than 30 seconds.
Tons of great death stories from my time playing FFXI...I just can't remember most of them cause it's been so long since I played. =/ I will never forget being Eagle Eye shotted for 2k damage, though. That one was hilarious. XD I pulled hate at the exact wrong moment, haha. And something about Rancor, and Tonberries...but everyone's done that on purpose at least once. Same with getting eaten by Vrtra.

Lost a local Dissidia torunament to a Cloud player who pulled the gayest win ever on me. She was in Break, I was at 9999 BRV, she managed to block an Oblivion I used way too early, and coutnerattacked with a double slash, which, no big deal, she's in break, I assumed she was going to use the HP attack chained with it to get out of break, turns out that WAS her goal. but JUST before the HP damage was dealt, break wore off and her god damn Magic Pot went off on me, so I was in the middle of being hit already, far too late to react, and suddenly she has enough BRV to kill me <.<
Lamest tourny loss ever.

Wait, so youre saying you played in a dissidia tournament that was non-stock characters and had summons on? Thats the stupidest Dissidia tourney I've ever heard of, rofl.
Actually stuff like this reminds me of Diablo2, playing as a hardcore character. There were so many times when I played through the game that I had to hit the power button fast so my character wouldnt die, god I was such a nerd back when I was 14 =|

There was a stock tournament and a full customization allowed tournament. Personally I much prefer full customization. Opens up tons of new strategies, and all around is a better test of a player's abilities, mostly because it actually requires thinking, not just learning how to use 2 or 3 attacks.

This wasn't actually a loss but I sure felt like it was, I was playing PES 4 with my friend and I was leading 5 -0 at the halftime, I though it was a sure win but he managed to pull out a draw, the match ended 6 - 6.
Also while playing capture the Flag in Unreal Tournament 2004 I was killed several times because I thought the opponent was my teammate, that's the last time I forget my glasses.
Sig and Avy made by Unknown Entity
one of the first times I played X-2, because I was used to leaving X half way through a fight and it being alright - needless to say when I came back there was a big fat "game over" across my screen -.-

This probably isn't what you meant, but I had that reaction when I first experienced a Game Over in Sega Rally.
YouTube - Sega Rally - 15 Game Over Yeah!
i havnt really had a death that happened to me that was lol worthy, but i have killed people and cpu's that made me go lol wut? in dissidia when i was fighting the emperor with squall i was gettins smashed, and he had 9999 brave, he used his flare just as i tried to revolver drive him, and i had rebounded his flare straight into him causing me to win going lol wtf just happened? there was also Cod 4 where ive killed an entire team with a random grenade throw (at start of game X3) and some throwing knife kills in MW2 (like i throw the knife but throw it to short but the other guy walked over it and died X3) but the one that made me fall in laughter was at a lan party where some guy was camping and all that, and i snipped him over half the map, it wasnt the kill that made me laugh it was his reaction, i hear killing spree from my tv then a MMMMWWWWHHAAAATTTT!!!! come from outside my room XD (was playing in diffrent rooms) everyone dropped there controls laughing X3 best lan party ever :3
that damn SPR Mario bros 1 on the nintendo... i NEVER beat the game to this day... i always die.... i jus cant stop runnin into or jumpin off of sh!+
I feel your pain... I could never beat that when I was younger. Now i make speed runs for the lulz, but back before I was actualy GOOD at games, the last few worls made me want to rip my hair out.

Battlefield 2. I was a sniper and was on top of the tallest building in the desert city map "Strike at Karkand." So I'm doing my sniper thing killing bad guys and spotting tanks for my team. I was zoomed in on my scope and prone so i couldn't see the ground in front of me and heard a "zip" as someone shot at me(I assume it was another sniper). I started moving around to mess up his shot and fell off the side of the building. Gotta love fall damage. 1 little bar of health left i climbed the ladder back to the top only to suicide via my own claymore mine at the top of the ladder.
I don't really remember the game's name (Omnius Horizons?), but it was something about a Christian legend. I was very lost in the first level, I hadn't seen any enemies and it was eerily quiet. I was wandering around some kinda arabic stone buildings. I jumped around in one of the building's rooms that had pots. As I had nothing better to do, I jumped on the pots and suddenly I just died and the character's view went to the roof. I still don't know what really killed the character. There were no monsters/enemies around. But after that me (and my friend) decided to stay away from the game. x''''D

I was in the castle part where you have to send Ashley to hit these switches whilst you stay behind and keep the Las Plagas jerks offa her. Anyway, I was sniping when I saw one come up near me so I switched to the Mine Thrower gun, the one that impregnates enemies with lanmines. I nailed him as he grabbed me, and while we were doing the whole shake zombie off of you scene/minigame, he exploded and killed me.
