Besides 7 and 8? And 11 and 14, but I hate mmos.
Like it matters, thanks to emus we got 1-12 on our pcs.
But would be nice to run natively.
I wanna see ff13 on my gtx 580 :-(

I think Square should consider PC releases for their FF games, not everyone is going to have a PS3/360 and it would benefit them a lot releasing it via steam (as well as other download service websites) that way customers can simply buy the game online and download it directly to their pc.

I heard square doesn't release for pc because they want to force pc players to either use the mmos for consistant income, or buy a system.
gaming is all about the money since mmos became popular. Missed the days when devs were motivated by quality rather than money.
Missed the days of diablo ii. Diablo iiis real money auction house is ridiculous.
I feell like a sucker. Not only do I pay monthly fee, but gotta buy expansions and invest more time and money to be able to compete in pvp.
Which is why I'm playing sp games now. I control what my fun is.
hey
This is ridiculous. The gaming industry, like just about everything else, has always been about money. It didn't suddenly start with the rise of the MMO.
FF games on PC are just not very successful, and so they don't make them for PC anymore.
What monthly service are you paying for that is diablo related? It also has a in game money auction house. No real reason to complain. They could of just made it like II and had none.
As to the OP square is owned by Sony I believe. They obviously want people to buy the system and make more money rather than releasing it to all consoles. It's apart of having exclusives.
Was referring to the monthly fees of the mmos I play
And i m against rmah cuz u gotta buy the highend gear to compete in pvp. And every month they releasing new gear.
And ur right, the world is a business. No one cares about anyone, so no point trying to impress others.
Be urself and love urself

You should give that a read.
Ultimately it all boils down to how the PC market is perceived to respond to the release of the games. They probably saw the sales figures of VII and VIII, which were arguably the most popular and best selling (not best, per se) titles in the series. If those super popular games didn't sell all that well, due to the popularity of the PSX as a system, and if the trend of the FF sales in general (units sold, not dollar figures) is on the decline, Squeenix can actually lose money.
Though, when VII and VIII first came out, PCs weren't really all that common in homes and were much more expensive. That's not so much the case today.

I think newer games would do well on PC as there's serious lack of quality JPRG's on this platform since, well, ever. I highly doubt porting one of their games on PC would cost as much and they could offer it on steam thus avoid the cost of printing and shipping hard copies, although Gabe Newell would take his percentage =)

Sadly, they quit on this idea long time ago, for money and compatible, i say because the FF7/8 on PC, ya need at least one patch created by fans, for Fix many things (this goes on the sound)
MORE, because as fans someones they're, on PC relative games, they can make the next:
"Make mods" that i know because i have done a couple of them on the FF7, because was the only one that allow ya make skin mods.
There is also the fact of exclusivity. Sony obviously wants the playstation to succeed. Making one of its largest (if not largest) franchise selling on other consoles and PC it drives the selling point of the playstation down.
They need to have a fine line between sharing and keeping the series exclusive.
Developers do not want to make games on the PC outside of Steam due to Piracy being so rampant in this day and age.
Piracy is not an issue as long as you make a proper PC game worth it's money, how come Valve, Blizzard, id, or CD Project never mentioned piracy. Instead for the most part we get Über shity unoptimized console ports such as GTA IV or Saints Row 2 and we should buy that shit. Another flawed assumption is that every copy is 60$ out of developers pockets when in truth people who pirate games don't tend to buy them in the first place.

Nope, not even close...
In truth though, their games are highly pirated as well, at the same time though they sell so well piracy is not really the first thing on their mind. Valve and Blizzard for instance never spoke ill of piracy, not even once. Ubisoft on the other hand blames piracy to no end, instead of the infamous DRM ironically due to which pirate copies are the ones that work properly.

I agree with that last point about developers acting like they are losing money from people who wouldn't buy it anyways. Its not just the video game industry, but the movies, music, and tv also. I figure the numbers they say are losing are overstated and really only 20% of that.
They do make some crappy PC versions of games (GTA IV) but the issue of piracy effects even those who make good versions. It just doesn't have the impact that they claim. Funny thing is that they spend all this Money copy protecting these games and they still get broken. They would be better off using that money to develop better games.

Piracy is the answer, Squaresoft now provide weak products, they would get riddled with piracy, heck even id do it and I havent downloaded a game illegally in over 10 years. I figure the bastards owe me for FFX2-XIII
Although in thinking, i did get a full refund on FFX2, brought it back the same day i got it, it only took the opening sequence..
Not to mention the fact they have never developed a traditional FF single player game for the PC, they just port the games and they all look and sound horrible in comparison to their console counter parts as a result.
Heck they couldln't even get their MMO's right, their second MMO was even shiter and less polished than the first..
So i guess to answer your question; they don't know how...
Yeah well it's all about piracy these days, but more than that, it's about money, all about money, if something gives them that, it's all alright, so they don't need so many FF on PCs, for that it's PSP, Vita, PS3, etc... anyway, it will be nice play FFXII or XIII in PC, of course, we can, if it's piracy and in a emulator.
>>> Zack "¿Nibelheim...?", Cloud "¿...Gongaga?" <<<
I'm sure a half-assed excuse would be "to reduce pirating" even though emulators, etc.
