Which FF to start with?

Hello,
i would like to try one of the FF games (on pc) but i've read in a review that 14 would be too complicated to start with if you haven't had any experience with other FF games. So which one is good to start with? I also would like it if it has a story that is understandable without having any previous information on the story line

If I recall correctly there are four FF games for PC, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, XI & XIV, last two are MMORPG's so you don't really have much of a choice there. Both VII and VIII have bit of a complex story to say the least with few unanswered questions, though nothing extreme. I found VIII to be all around more enjoyable, though you can start with either one.

I did used to play WoW before, is that anything like FF12 and 14?

I honestly wouldn't know as Final Fantasy XI & XIV are one of few titles in FF series I haven't played, though I guess they do shear some resemblence to WoW as both are MMORPG's. One thing I can say for sure, playing singleplayer games such as Final Fantasy VII & VIII won't do you much good at preparing you for a online game such as Final Fantasy XIV despite being in the same series.

I found XI to be a bit confusing, even with a MMO history behind me. I did not find that game fun at all.

I would try XIV, even though it's not that great of a MMO.

Just get a psx emulator and play FF VII through IX.

Hi Janet, why is it that you want to play final fantasy? What do you expect from the game? What have you heard?

Well for me the perfect game serie so far is Zelda, where you can play in a fantasyworld with a good story and where you have to do more then just kill a whole bunch of enemy's one by one. I was hoping Final Fantasy would be something like that. I also liked playing WoW a lot so if it would be similair to that wouldn't be a problem either

I recommend you play final fantasy XII. It has the feel of Zelda with real time battles and perhaps the character development and equipment customization will be to your liking, as well as Having optional quests at your leisure.
