Has there ever been a song that's affected your life?

Or maybe a song that you found so incredibly meaningful?

Is there just a certain song that you've loved and maybe had an affect on your life?

Mabye the lyrics to the song are nothing like your life, but you just love them because they're so meaningful?

Well, I know this sounds stupid, but for some reason...I loved welcome to the black parade by my chemical romance. The lyrics are...well in my opinion, they're beatiful. I'll post the lyrics soon, I'll have to find them first. Plus has this thread already been made????

Song that are meaningful to me are usually depressing songs that i think reflect how i'm feeling sometimes. I know it sounds weird but the lyric's just sound like what i'm feeling. An example of one of these songs is Through the glass by stone sour. The first time i ever heard that song, i fell in love with it instantly. The lyric's to it are just so moving. Other songs are The end by roadrunner united, The last sunrise by Aiden and Here to stay by KoRn.

Katatonia - For My Demons.

Yeah, love that song.

It pretty much speaks to me and says "you've been through shit. And it's bad. But I don't need people to know about what I've gone through."

It's effected this year of my life a lot. Mmhm.

There has never been a song that really changed my life but a song that makes me tingle or surprized is Stairway to Heaven by zeppelin. Not my favorite Zep song but its excellent, the lyrics and the solo especially.

Well, these are the lyrics to Welcome to the black parade...enjoy! And hopefully you'll undersand how awsome the lyrics are...

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
"Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?
He said
Will you defeat them, your demons, and all the non believers, the plans that they have made?
Because one day I leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join the black parade.

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me.
And other times I feel like I should go. Through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets.
When you're gone we want you all to know We'll Carry on,
We'll Carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
Carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I cant contain it
The anthem wont explain it.

And we will send you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Lets shout it loud and clear
Do you fight it to the end
We hear the call to
To carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated You're weary widow marches on

And on we carry through the fears
Ooh oh ohhhh
Disappointed faces of your peers Ooh oh ohhhh
Take a look at me cause
I could not care at all Do or die
You'll never make me
Cause the world, will never take my heart
You can try, you'll never break me
Want it all,
I'm gonna play this part
Wont explain or say i'm sorry
I'm not ashamed,
I'm gonna show my scar
You're the chair, for all the broken Listen here, because it's only..
I'm just a man,
I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who's meant to sing this song
Just a man,
I'm not a hero
I -- don't -- care
Carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated You're weary widow marches on
We'll carry on
We'll carry on
We'll carry on
We'll carry
We'll carry on

there has been a whole lot of songs that are meaniful to me since they all mostly talk about loss, beatdowns, love, hate, death, and sorrow. most of the songs that mean something to me are from the band L'ame Immortelle since they talk about all kinds of issues like loss, dying, and love.

here's one of L'ame Immortelle's songs

"Believe In Me"

My dedication for the cause
And the wishes I've withdrawn
blessed me with nothing but the blame
For friendships lost and virtues gone
My loyalty and honesty
held nothing but decay
blessed me with nothing but the blame
If we had lost our way
Why don't you believe in me
Despite the battles We have won ?
Why still sacrifice myself
I have no strength to carry on
The invidia of those surrounding
Forges doubts in what I do
And breaks the chains that years have tied
After all that we've been through

love the song for the words it uses after being with a relationship with someone and it is just not the same since that person lost fate in you for some odd reason.

The Reflecting God by Marilyn Manson. This has been the most motivational song I've ever heard, especially the chorus. The sense that I am the god of my own universe, that I am the one who can modify or destroy my own existance, the feeling that if I am going to worship anything it should be myself and my own humanity, and that no, I am not a sinner who has to answer to some fantastic parent figure and apologize for being human was the most empowering feeling I've ever had, and this song captures that very well.

Well, back in '04 when I was going through some shitty shitty times with my ex (the filthy slut), one song would keep me happy. "Giving Up" by Silverstein.

"I used to make the light shine for you
The sun has left my sky
Velvet walls surround my sorrows
I've sacrificed my pride

Giving up on me
You're giving up on me

I've laid myself to sleep tonight
I know you've played out everything in your mind

And now you throw it all away
A shattered memory that you would stay
Through thick and thin with me

You're giving up on me
Giving up on me

I've laid myself to sleep tonight
I know you've played out everything in your mind
For me

And now you throw it all away
A shattered memory that you would stay
Through thick and thin with me

And when you feel the pain
I'm wishing I could stay
How can I say I love you back?
You never made me happy

You've laid yourself to sleep
I never said this wouldn't hurt
You gave up everything
I never said I'd give it back
I know (I know) you'll never change
I'll never be good enough for you
I know (I know) you'll make it through
I'll never be around to see

And now you throw it all away
A shattered memory that you would stay
Through thick and thin with me
You're giving up on me"

Now, I know it's horrendously emo, but hearing someone sing things about the exact same thing I was going thtough was comforting. No, I wasn't cutting my wrists or wearing my non-existant sister's pants. I just needed something to comfort me, and damn, that song did it. Another song that changed my life was "Electrictiy" by 311. I was brought up in a pretty racist family, and the lyrics of that song blew my mind and embedded a seed of tolerance.

"This song started as a rant against haters
But that'd be giving in to the instigators
There is one thing I'd like to pull off
When steps to me all I do is just scoff
You can't burn me, you can't burn me

The same force that flows through every circuit
The juice that's spent every time you work it
Every lifeform is based on this simplicity
The soul you have is electricity

You can't avoid that
Evolution is fact
We're all from the same Lucy
Despite differences you see

I'm in disbelief at what people will believe
I've always thought we had our hearts on a shirt sleeve
One thing I can say as a piece of advice
Don't believe it til you see it then see it twice
It's so funny, it's not funny

The same force that flows through every circuit
The juice that's spent every time you work it
Every lifeform is based on this simplicity
The soul you have is electricity

You can't avoid that
Evolution is fact
We're all from the same Lucy
Despite differences you see

A call out for unity
In every province and city
What'dya think we've been saying
Since we first started playing"

Has anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken?
Thread killer extraordinaire since 4/20/01.

"Jesus Freak" by DC Talk. I love to see guys who truly take a stand for what they believe in and they inspire me to do the same.

When Angels Fly Away Lyrics

I'll make a soldiers decision to fly away
Load my gun, paint my face, call me misery
I can see the sky light up and the ground explode
Got my sights locked down I can see you breathe
Then I watched you fall and somebody scream
Its the saddest thing when angels fly away

I cant be home tonight, I'll make it back its alright
No one could ever love me half as good as you

Got a badge for my scars just the other day
Wore it proud for the sake of my sanity
I could see the flames burn bright from the winding road
Like a haunting page from our history
Watched a young girl cry and her mother scream
Its the saddest thing when angels fly away

I cant be home tonight, I'll make it back its alright
No one could ever love me half as good as you

You cant be strong tonight, love makes you sad its alright
No one could ever worry half as good as you

Half as good as you

I cant be home tonight, I'll make it back its alright
No one could ever love me half as good as you

You cant be strong tonight, love makes you sad its alright
No one could ever worry half as good as you

this song for some reason just reminds me of the september 11 attacks but more on the flight 93 since they were the one that fought back. it just makes me feel a little sad sometimes.

"We are what others preceive us to be, that is our status in the world, and self-knowlegde of your self will do nothing when the world looks at you as a heathen. Maybe our minds saw things the way we wanted to, maybe our sins wern't that bad. Or maybe others saw it how they wished, streching the bad and leaving the good side for the few decent people in our world to consider. Or maybe, the universe is just how our minds percieve it to be. Maybe deep down, we know it's all not real, but we ignore it, and go on with our meaningless lives...."

"So I ask you, why should I protect a meaningless universe, when all it really is, is just a perception of mind?"

Well last year just before my dad got killed I had Stairway to Heaven stuck in my head just as it happened, I was going through a kind of old school rock phase at that time and it was just 1 of those songs that kept playing in my head, quite tragic to happen at that time and knowing my dad was a fan of Led Zeppelin it will forever remain with me.

Another song is Star Child from the band Wintersun, I don't know what it is about that song but when I first listened to it, it was just 1 of those songs that really spoke to me, especially these lyrics:

From sorrow and pain I find my strength
The more pain I feel, the more I see
Now I'm watching my life flowing in the dark
Like streams of fear running through my heart
And it's wearing me down until I'm gone
Soon I'll join the endless whirls of stars
And I fall deeper into the unknown voids
Something is dying, yet something is born
And I fall into infinity like a burning star
When will I find my silent dawn
I fall like a burning star!

There are certain songs that make me feel different in there own way. If I am smoking a fatty, and listening to some mellow music, then I am chilled out. If I am pump full of energy, and I listen to some Heavy music, then I am going to get mad, and want to fight, or I am just really hyper.

Then there are songs that make me think. When I am stoned, and not stoned. There are just those certain songs that make you wonder. Wonder about the past. Like relatives that you have lost. Makes you think on how much you miss that person. But then you listen more on through the song, and you start to fell better. You have found that song that relates to you, and that person. So the person is with you no matter what.

That is why I listen to music. Thats what music makes me think about.
Life or death. Nethire are consider to someone like me. For I am both. Nor death can happen to me, or can life. There is no other like me. For I am one with myself. Nobody else is. That is the way of the immortal. That is the way of Ulteka Mako.

There are quite a few really meaningful songs in my life. Eh i can't think of all off hand, i know for sure there are probably atleast one or two by the beatles, led zeppelin, and the stones. But here are a few i can think off of hand.. (with links to the lyrics )

The Faces - Ooh La La
Bright Eyes - Bowl of Oranges
Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand

The last lines to castles made of sand are really powerful and the most memorable i think.

"There was a young girl, whos heart was a frown
cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldnt speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled you wont hurt me no more
But then a sight shed never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way

And it really didnt have to stop, it just kept on going...

And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually."

There's one song that affects me every morning on my way to college on the bus; Drive-In Saturday, by David Bowie.

The song starts with:
Let me put my arms around your head
Gee, it's hot, let's go to bed
Don't forget to turn out the light
Don't laugh babe, it'll be alright...

Oh David!

I usually listen to most of Aladdin Sane on the way to college. Just prepares me for the day, y'know? It affects me if I haven't listened to something as good as that before I have to work, so I guess it affects me in a kind of reversed way.

So. I'm affected more by the abscence of music than anything, I guess. I love it so.

"Eyes Wide Shut"

Tangled in the webs that she weaves
Dangling in disbelief, trapped I can’t breathe
She’s the one that left me
Stranded feelin’ empty
Now I’m all alone reading the letters that she sent me

Tired of playing games
Tired of being in last place
I move to fast pace, who are you to judge
If only you can love the way you hate me, every things so shaky
Broken, lost, crushed, all the above
Too many mistakes, too many bad breaks and bad luck
Too many lies and closed eyes, now I’m stuck in a bad rut
You said you’d be committed from the beginning ‘till end
I can’t believe you said we’re better off just being friends

I can’t believe this
You can just walk away
I can’t believe this
Each and every other day
I can’t believe this
Now my mind is blown
I can’t believe
That I am all alone

[Chorus]
EYES, into a place that I take you
WIDE, you see I just can’t replace you
SHUT, and now my heart it breaks in two
Follow, follow, Eyes Wide Shut

You thought you left me empty handed, stranded and broken hearted
Mistreated and cheated so take it back to where we started
To the first time we met and the first time we kissed
Together forever, well what have I missed
If only you can see just how I feel and what you mean to me
I never thought that you could walk away so easily
You said you needed space, now you’re out hanging with him
You said we can’t be lovers so I know we can’t be friends

I can’t believe this
You can just walk away
I can’t believe this
Each and every other day
I can’t believe this
Now my mind is blown
I can’t believe
That I am all alone

[Chorus (2X)]

Just the other day
I looked at her, she looked at me and then she walked away
‘Cause I never really understood why
She could pass me by without giving us another try
So tell me what you’re looking for
‘Cause I don’t know no more
All I know is that I feel just like my hearts been torn
And I thought I was more than just a friend
And now you’re leaving me in the very end
And my vision is a blur
All I really know is that I loved her, I loved her

I can’t believe this
You can just walk away
I can’t believe this
Each and every other day
I can’t believe this
Now my mind is blown
I can’t believe
That I am all alone

[Chorus (2X)]

it reminds me of just loseing someone or taken from someone esle it is just not the same feel when seen all together.

Yeah...

A few songs, but one for a part in my life I lost someone. You'd understand from my post in the Love thread. Either way, here it is...

In Loving Memory by Alter Bridge

Thanks for all you've done
I've missed you for so long
I can't believe you're gone
You still live in me
I feel you in the wind
You guide me constantly

I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
And ill come home and I miss your face so
Smiling down on me
I close my eyes to see

And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me

I carry the things that remind me of you
In loving memory of
The one that was so true
Your were as kind as you could be
And even though you're gone
You still mean the world to me

I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
But now I come home and it's not the same, no
It feels empty and alone
I can't believe you're gone

And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me

I'm glad he set you free from sorrow
I'll still love you more tomorrow
And you will be here with me still

And what you did you did with feeling
And You always found the meaning
And you always will
And you always will
And you always will

Ooo's

And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me
So now you’re suffering the fallacy of what you said
When you uncover the depression from where you’ve tread
Breathe over the glass you wrote on
Swallow all that you waste your throat on
You wear the mark and wave the banner they made with sin
Revealing every single lie that you’ve been breeding within
Wash over the skin you’ve broken
Think over the tone you spoke in

Two songs by Theory of a Deaman have helped a bit. The week before we all broke up for Christmas this year, I was giving out my cards and stuff. i had one for my Head Of Year, whom helped me through a bad patch and said a few nice words to me when I was having problems with people in my tutor group. She had cancer, but still, even though it affected her badly, she still had this amazing strength to still come in and teach. Anyways, I had her card in my hand looking for her that morning, just before we were called to an Emergency Assembly. We were then told that she had died in the night. I never really mourned her death for a little while after - I was still coping with another death at the time. But then I did - a week or two before I heard Theory's new song, Heaven (Little by Little)...

"Now don't you be afraid
We can always talk about
No need to medicate
Cuz I know you're strong without it
You got me through the days
When I thought I couldn't face it
Let me count the ways
The love we have you can replace it

Just hold on, I'm not that strong

There's a little piece of heaven
Right here where you are
He fact that you keep trying
Is what sets you apart.
Help me find the reason
And I'll help you find the way
To get rid of all your pain
Little by little, day by day

Now, you're far away
And I'm alone to cry about it
It's not a better place,
When you die and leave me here to say

Hold on, I was never that strong

There's a little piece of heaven
Right here where you are
He fact that you keep trying
Is what sets you apart.
Help me find the reason
And I'll help you find the way
To get rid of all your pain
Little by little, day by day

You'll get stronger
If you need me, I'm not far away
So, just hold on
I'll help you find a way
I'll help you find the way

There's a little piece of heaven
Right here where you are
He fact that you keep trying
Is what sets you apart.
Help me find the reason
And I'll help you find the way
To get rid of all your pain
Little by little, day by day

Little by little, day by day..."

Now, I don't believe in Heaven, or God, whatever, but this song... It just felt right for me, and it helped me realise that maybe she has gone to a better place, where she doesn't have to feel pain anymore.

Another by Theory of a Deadman is Sacrifice. I have for a little while felt like a total outcast from everyone at school. I wasn't bothered by that, but I was bothered by everyone's reactions when I finally decided to break the mold everyone wanted me to be. And this song helped: No matter what you put me through, I'll always be me, and fight back harder. Sacrifice:

"No I don't need a reason to be breathin
Just here doin what I can
No I don't want a family who would damn me
and resent everything I am
I don't need to prove to all the ones who
Feel that I need to fit in
No I won't ever tell you that I failed you
I'd rather start life over again

No I'm sorry to say
There'll be no sacrifice today

No I can see it clearly
Why you feel me
Why you got to bring me down
No I don't want to fight you
Just to spite you
But I'm not afraid to take you out

No I'm sorry to say
There'll be no sacrifice today

Everybody expects me to break
but i'll never break down again
Everybody expects me to give up
but you'll never see me givin in
Everybody wants me to lose
but i'll never lose who I am

No I'm sorry to say
There'll be no sacrifice today [ X2 ]

Everybody expects me to break
but i'll never break down again
Everybody expects me to give up
but you'll never see me givin in
Everybody wants me to lose
but i'll never lose who I am

No I'm sorry to say
There'll be no sacrifice today [ X2 ]

No sacrifice today [ X2 ]"

Both songs have helped me a lot... Theory is my helpful friend lol...

Songs that reflect my life... without a doubt, Making My Way (Any Way That I Can) by Billie reflects my life the most of any songs I've heard. Exactly how I feel about my overprotective parents... As for songs that are really meaningful to me... Misty's Song. Yes, really! I know that Misty is really nervous about telling Ash she loves him, but to me, I'm more like I'm kinda nervous to see my boyfriend at times, 'cause any day could be the one where he dumps me, and Misty seemed to reflect that in some of those lyrics. And the "I look at you, you look away" line has us perfectly. I log on to the chat, we sit staring at each other's chat links for a few seconds, then one of us logs out, then gets up and logs on again... boy, I sound cheesy. And no, you can't ask who my boyfriend is... I would never, ever confess that, not in a million years... Another is Somewhere Someday by *NSYNC. I just love those lyrics... and it pulled me out of my emo phase back when I was ten, anyway. It really showed me that there's always a way out of anything...

There have been plenty of songs that have affected my life. In both my English Selection and Japanese Selection.

The one from my English Section that has the most would have to be Nemo by Nightwish.
I don't really know the full reason as to why it has, but I am sure it has something to do with me feeling alone, (which I enjoy very much) and being invisible.

Now from my Japanese Section that would have to be D-Technolife by UVERworld.
I read the English translated lyrics of this song and when I did I realized the song is saying to never give in, and always fight. Which I tend to do more often.

So yeah there you have it! ^_^

I've... Lived a lot since I posted last and all. So here.

ThouShaltNot - All That's Left.

My dearest friend, take these books of mine
You always loved the words that dreamt inside
Perhaps they'll show you places I never found
My brother take these clothes of mine
In which I always looked so stylish and refined
They'll be much warmer here above the ground

And while summer is bright on the walk
Bending shadows like hands on a clock
Maybe I can find some shade under this tree
There could just be some rest in this for me

My sister, take all my photographs
May faces of friends and family let you laugh
And keep your memories happy and clear
My lover, heart, take these songs I wrote
Play them years from now when you are old
And perhaps someday someone will hear

And in this air so still and strange
If I close my eyes, will the wind change?
If you listen closely, you might hear me sing
Take all that's left, take everything
I've been on this site since 2006 woah

Not anymore. Maybe before, but not now. No song has effected my life. Sure, I've listened to music everywhere and it's effected the way I choose my songs, but that's it.

The only way I can think of it effecting me was if it was mind control, or if I got hit down by a car and lived to tell the tale of "OMG. THAT SONG WAS PLAYING WHEN THAT SUBARU TOTALLY OWNED ME. LOOOOLZ."

The person in my avatar is me.

The songs that are meanful to me have to be sad songs. But there is one that I really love. It's called Where never Lark or Eagle Flew. It has a pome that goes with it.
High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

He's got the whole wide world, in his hands...

That hymn proved to me, at a young age, that God didn't exist and that his believers really needed to get some soul.
