That definitely sounds like a good and funny idea. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks but I think it'd be great, and certainly make the club stand out among the rest. I was always wondering why this club didn't have banners and most of the other big ones do. I figured the Cult was just too cool and badass for banners. Hell, in the old school days there were no internet or banners!

Anywayz, I'd be glad to help out. I can't say i'm the most talented person to do it, I'm sure other people in this club are more qualified, but i'd definitely volunteer if somebody else doesn't want to. Looking at Jin's sig, i bet he could do some cool things. Loco's too.

But yeah we'll have to see what everyone else says and go over everyone's belt titles etc. But great idea, we're gonna rock the rest of these lightweight's worlds!

You guys know me all too well. The Hardcore division is where I dominated when I was in an E-Fed years ago. That is, until I took reigns as the LWF Champion one month following a year-long absence. Too bad the fed came to an end, the guy who ran it got overrun with life and such. So, in other words, I am all for this idea, as well as the title assigned to me. The Title belts sound like an awsome idea and will really help this club stand out a bit more I think. Go with it, I'm not a graphics designer myself so I won't be able to help much.

Well that's one for no. I don't know how you guys do things around here, if this is a democracy or what, but certainly everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Unless some cult leader overrules them and uses the light of judgment on them!

In regards to other banners, before hearing about the title belt idea, i was thinking about making my own banner. I thought a funny idea would be to have a banner with the scene from FF VI outside the fanatic's tower (or the cult of kefka tower ) where the cult members are walking around in a circular motion. I was thinking of replacing the cult members with different sprites each representing a member of the group. Of course we'd have General Leo, Sabin, Dark Knight Dawzey, a Ninja, Setzer, etc etc.

..but we'll have to hear what everyone else says about the title belt idea.

Piro, it might be a silly idea, but it's not "dumb" by any means. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to be so quick to trash the idea. It's certainly unique, at the very least, so what's your problem? Seems like I'm coming across all sorts of posts of yours today that just aren't very polite.

Anyway, as far as the belts go, I think it'd be a nifty idea. I can't promise that I'd sport one in my signature, but I may. It would depend upon how large they are. Of course, character sprites would be required, which means I'd have Sabin -- he is, after all, the character that has represented me on this forum for over four years now, and has appeared in a handful of OSCoK avatars as well.

My currently playing is limited to nothing and... nothing.

It's kinda difficult right now.

Wow that does sound cool GLC, as a banner for the club, but at the same time the title belts sound more personalised for each member and that will make me for one feel special. Your idea does sound better as a universal club banner, but if I am going to wear anything for this club i'll want it to be a small as posible, because I don't want my sig to get any more cluttered because I for one actually don't like the scrolling banners people have now. Anyway I think we should vote for wether to have banner or belts, I vote for the belts.

@topic: Also, the problem with a single club banner is that someone will always dislike it, or the way s/he is portrayed in it, thus causing whining. It's always easier to go with personalized stuff in that case.

And if enough people don't like the idea of wrestling-style title belts, well, too bad. It's a cult, and I like the idea.

However, in fairness, I think crowns would also work in the same sense. It would take a bit more creativity to add more uniqueness to each of them, but at least a crown wouldn't be specific to any singular genre. Even though I think Piro's post (or at least the attitude portrayed within it) was unnecessary, he did at least have somewhat of a point.

I'm all for the title belts, but if you guys like the idea of crowns, that could work just as easily, eh?

Yeah, I like the idea of crowns a lot more, as for personalising them, maybe instead of having like gems or gold points we could have like shapes or objects that appear to communicate some sort of stereotype about the member, not that I have any ideas but just throwing it out there for other people to brainstorm over.

On the tops, instead of gemstones, there could be character sprites!

For the sake of simplicity, it could be a rather simple three-point design, completely two-dimensional, so it would look something like this... but, you know, prettier because it would be a picture:

where each S would represent a sprite of the user's choice atop a peak of the crown -- his/her favorite and/or representative sprite (in my case, Sabin, albeit not my favorite character by any means) located right in the middle.

It would have a transparent background and would be entirely pixelized in traditional old school fashion. Of course, usernames and "OSCoK" would have to be in there somewhere as well. I'd be more than willing to whip up a sample (tomorrow) if you're interested in what I've got going in my head.

And don't worry, I'll just close my right eye so I can get the colors right.

Wow that does sound cool, I'm not sure what 3 sprites I would go with, probably Setzer, a Pixelized Stan and maybe Locke, because he is my favourite FF6 character and probably in all of FF. Stan is actually a lot like me in term of personality and attitude and Setzer reflects my username and also that fact that I play of lot of chance (D&D) games. The main colors in the crown would be red and blue for me, but that may suck if I decide to change my user theme again, which could be close or distant.

I would like to see what other people would imagine their crown would look like.

Good idea LocoColt04, you have my support. Not that it matters since this is a Cult, I have to sit down and shut up.

, yeah i'm really fine with the title belt or the crown. I definitely agree, the more over the top and cheesy the better. When the title belts were mentioned, i thought the same thing with using sprites. Then i thought of making the emblem of the belt in the shape of the respective sprite character. I also agree with the personalized idea..that is a good point, when i was thinking of my old idea, i figured to personalize it i would just have each person's name written above their sprites head so each banner would be different. These ideas are a lot more funny and over the top though.

As for the crowns. I like the idea, would we use the same character for the three sprites on top, or different ones? For mine, i would probably all use general leo but each one would be in a different pose. I think for one i have to use the one in my avatar, then i'll have one of him laughing, then the last either his "cast magic" pose, or his victory dance after battle pose.

Also, does anyone know a good program to make gif files? I used to have animation shop, but i can't find it anywhere. I've been meaning to make an animated general leo avatar forever

Edit: And holy shit! i missed the part about your eye Loco, really sorry to hear that. I've had some bad stuff happen to my eye but no burning yet. When i was little i had a growth that was literally growing over my eye, it got so bad that my eye was literally shut and i couldn't see out of it. Had to have surgery to remove it, then i wore a patch for awhile and felt like a pirate. Then later, at a pool in California, i was swimming with my eyes open (like i always have/do, i know its kinda stupid), failing to realize that the staff had put about 3 or 4 times the normal ammount of chlorine that day. After swimming for awhile my eyes started to burn and after about half an hour to an hour later i literally couldn't open them. I was like that for awhile until we went to the nearest drug store and got some eye drops. My mom had to pry my eyes open i remember...and even then it was a good 45 minutes or more before i could fully open them. Hopefully that's temporary though!

I nearly went blind a long time ago when I was 8-12. The past is really fuzzy and I'm not sure what happened when. Anyway I was at some house party and a saw a really scary looking spider, so I got a can of fly spray and attempted to spray the shit out of the spider, but instead I sprayed the shit out of my eyes. I immediately ran inside and strarting trying to put my eyes under running water and did so for about 1/2 an hour straight, until I was sure that I had cleaned my eyes out as much as I could, after that they were really sore and the doctor gave me eye drops and stuff that I had to use for a few weeks. But anyway I'm sure that isn't as bad as burning hot oil, and maybe I'm remembering an overdramatized version of the event as you often do. Now that I think about it I'm not sure if I even came close to doing any permanent damage to my eyes.

Congrats on 900 posts GLC, I've actually been racing you, but I think I know who's going to reach 1000 first now. I'm afraid I wouldn't know the answer to your question.

Ask Dawezy and he'll hook you up with a nifty little animation program. Speaking of which, I think I need it again as well, since I don't have it on this laptop and I don't believe I have the install file on the other laptop any more. Go figure.

It's the program that he and I used to make our series of animated avatars back in the day, such as the Braska Spira one everyone was buzzing about last week.


I've got a couple hours to kill prior to my eye appointment, so I'll go whip up a crown for myself and we can discuss any changes/etc. that we want to make. Oh, and I think the idea of three sprites of the same character is probably a better one, so we'll go with that unless we change our minds.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike (NDS) for short periods of time, as to avoid straining my left eye too much. ^_^;;

On the bright side, I've decided that this will pull me away from Counter-Strike and all other shooters that require extensive visual attention, and thus throw me back into RPGs (specifically MMORPGs) where such concentration is not necessary. Don't get me wrong, as a WHM, I have to keep an eye on everyone's health, but fortunately there are nifty little HP bars that do that for me.

Glucoma runs in my family, so I'm being checked on for that. But the doctor is skeptical of me having it right now, so I'm going to go back in 6 months.

We can always go with a smooth font if you wish, but in keeping with the old school idea, I figured something a little pixelated would probably be best for the crowns.

I did a sprite of my choice (laughing) in the middle, with walking sprites on each side. Obviously, this was just personal preference, so if you guys like what we've got going here, let me know and we can start duplicating them for each of you -- I've still got the seven layer original project file ready to go for everyone.

Also, remember that the background is actually transparent, not white.

Hey that looks cool. I like the somewhat old school look of the crown itself, it probably wouldn't have looked good if the crown was really realistic or metallic looking. If you have the basic crown itself, i can start making my personal one. What font did you use?

Or maybe if you are just doing them all yourself so they look the same, I could just tell you what sprites i want to use. I'm looking over some different poses right now..there are a lot of funny ones. But i think the laughing one would be in the middle like yours, then on the outside...on the left where general leo is looking down at the ground, his "sad" pose, and the other on the right, the pointing finger pose that is in my avatar right now. I'm not sure where you get the sprites from, I was looking at these but i know rpg-icons has a great selection too. I like the magic cast pose but because he is faced to the side it wouldn't go well with the others, and also the surprised pose would look weird in comparison with the normal ones.


I finally got animation shop, and i'm going to use some of the other poses in my General Leo animated avatar.

That was the idea, yes. This way, they could all be hosted from my server as well, keeping them all in the same place and all that jazz.

There's nothing wrong with a sprite facing sideways. I can just as easily flip another facing sideways so that it faces inward. You don't have to use the same two sprites on the outer edges, again, that was just a personal preference.

I do, however, think it would be best to have a forward-facing sprite in the middle.

Yeah good point you could always mirror them..hmmm. I guess let me think about what sprites i want to use, because i want to make sure they are 3 good poses and there is a good variety to choose from. I think the only one for sure i want to do is the forward posed laugh in the middle, the two outside ones i am still debating over.

And i like what you have done with yours!! That looks really good and fits perfectly around your other banner, it's too bad my nintendo one is so big but i can always shrink it or else put the crowns on either side of my my "other clubs" list.

And for the record, for everyone else, the sprites don't HAVE to be from FFVI.

Any old school game will do, though FF titles would obviously be preferred. I think having three sprites of the same character will probably be best for these.

Still don't know if I'm having surgery today or not, but I guess I'll find out in an hour. I've got a pretty in-depth General Leo sheet, so just let me know which ones you want and I'll get it done later today for sure. (Couldn't say when today though... Sweet, good stuff. I appreciate it and i think after toying around a little with the sprites i finally have my final idea down. All of these are forward facing..

On the left i want his wave pose where it looks like he has his hand on his head. In the middle his laugh pose. And on the right i want his shaking finger pose BUT MIRRORED so his finger is on the right side. Of course they aren't going to be animated but i included the links just so you know but i know you have your own general leo sheet

Don't worry about not getting it done soon, I'm in no hurry really. But my sig is sure gonna look spiffy with the crown in it.

I had a period where all I did was go around looking for sprites. This was, of course, back before I got into FFXI. Maybe one of these days FFXI will flat-out crash or something and I'll get a life again. XD

Awesome. My crown is looking nice and i added it into my signature. Yeah i have a lot of sprite sheets as well those are from http://videogamesprites.net/ aren't they? The one thing i like about those is they have so many of the battle sprites including sabin's blitzes and edgar's tools, etc. Those are really going to come in handy with my rpg maker presentation. That's really the reason why i have so many sprite sheets, rpg maker.

I haven't been playin much lately besides DoD: Source. I got pissed after playing Grandia for awhile because my disc is scratched and it froze mid battle after playing for a long time. Eh..I'll probably get into playing it later tonite.

Oh, and good news about the eye, gents.

Looks like I've got to give it a few more days to clear up, and we'll see what it's like from there. Either way, I'll be getting a new prescription, since it's been about five years since I've had my eyes examined. They can't do a proper examination until the injury is healed up, so that'll likely be sometime next week.
