Yeah, it would seem like they would want to protect them more. And some of them do seem to care about the Rukongai. But it is pretty obvious that even though all Soul Reapers probably came from the Rukongai they want to forget that part of their past. Not to mention that it can be really rough for some of them, so they probably are not interested in helping those that looked down on them or were mean to them.

The job of the Soul Reaper is aid souls and fight Hollows and yet it doesn't look like most of them do that. Though I guess that is for later when things get really nasty. But it does seem like all they are doing is setting behind those nice tall walls not caring about thing but themselves and the corrupt system that they have. Though in spite of all that, there are so good one in the bunch as usual.

Would be interesting to see Byakuya and where he came from. He is always so cold about everything, so knowing why he is that way and if he actually was ever a happy person would be interesting. Not to mention it would nice to know how old he is. Because what does Byakuya really care about, he seems more interested in honor of the family and keeping order. He is powerful, but does not do much with it other than to get in Ichigo's way.
