I know how you feel, I often remember how happy I was this time last year having been with my boyfriend for two years. After he dumped me in january this year because he had fallen out of love I've spent a long long time thinking I wish I could go back a year. Last year was great, this year has been pretty crap so far, would you agree?

I think you just have to be patient, which is probably exactly what you don't want to be. I bet you want to talk to him now, but to do so would be a mistake. Give it a few weeks at the earliest, and then say the most heartfelt apology that you can. If this guy has any soul and knows the concept of forgiveness you might well be able to repair your friendship.
