I haven't read the entire thing, but from what I see warnings only apply to posts. Can you be warned for flaming/trolling in a VM?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to let you all know that the rules have been updated from the previous 2008 Edition. There has been re-clarification, updating, adding and subtracting to the rules that were being used until today. The new 2011 Edition does not change much from what you should already be doing, but it is put things into words that had previous been unstated.
So please read and review the new changes. If you have any questions this thread is available as a public venue to bring them up. If you have more individual or personal questions please send me a PM.
Thank you

Maybe if you had been reading more carefully, you would have noticed that paragraph. You are obviously not thinking clearly.Originally Posted by Andromeda

Moar dumb questions:
In the past people have made "NSFW" or "Adult content 18+" in thread titles and had threads about...adult issues in general chat. Is this strictly not allowed anymore, even when labled?
Just curious. The rules are written well, but for people who have been so used to the old rules I thought I would ask!
From my interpretation, it's viewable content. So, basically, if you went ahead and posted a marked NSFW topic, and then posted links to your favourite porn, or even [IMG] tagged them, you'd be in a bit of trouble; it breaks NSFW rules, if you're in it (lol) advertising and some people might find themselves viewing illegal content in their country*.
*Does that count as Back Seat Modding? No one's done anything yet, so I'm not throwing accusations around or anything. But yeah.
Discussions are still okay, right? I know when I joined (when rules were enforced more), there were a few threads that were considered NSFW, (shaving pubic hair, how often do you masterbate, etc...) but they were fine. As long as they're marked "NSFW 18+ ONLY", anyone younger who ventures in the thread can't really blame anyone for what they find. But yeah, are discussions still allowed?
Boom. So I guess it is allowed, but not explicit?Originally Posted by Rules
Indeed. You can still have your in-depth (ha!) discussion of sexual nature; however, you cannot go into GRAPHIC DETAIL about anything in that context.
In other words, no word-porn.

so if I take a picture of my sexy body in swimming trunks, I would get an official warning for it? Seems a little harsh, it's not like I wear a speedo anyways
edit: just curious because theres been several people asking for it.

My only gripe is the necroposting bit, but seeing as I can create a new thread that talks about the same thing as a really old one, I'm really okay with everything.
I haven't seen any trolling during my time here, and I have only seen threads close because of spam. Spam is the biggest offense I've seen here so far.
Please read the poetry from two great friends of mine. May they find peace.

I honestly do not see why necroposting is enforced on the members, it should be more of a moderator thing imo. If a thread shouldn't be posted in because it's too old, it should be sent to the cleft or locked or what have you. Not sure why it is a warn-worthy offense...?

It's not a warn worthy offense.
It's in the rules because it's saying "Hey, we're going to start closing threads that are 2 months and older. Feel free to start a new topic of the same thing if you really want to talk about it."
And it's also basically saying if you see threads that are older than 2 months, please don't post in them and make a new topic instead.
Shadow is correct, the necroposting states that the mod will close it out after 2 months. The purpose is to let the members know such a rule exists and that's why threads are closed. And also let them know that they are allowed to post a new thread if the last one is closed. There is actually no part in that section about warning someone for that. If it is a warnable action the rules will state that individually per section.

It says if you break the NSFW rules you get 34% warning that will never go away.
So if you break these rules 3 times, you will be banned permanently?

In general, I will say yes, it will be a permanent ban. I say, "in general", because we have let people come back after permanent bannings. Being banned for something NSFW though it will be unlikely that the banning would ever be lifted. The only reason I could think otherwise would because it wasn't outright nudity, but something that falls into the 13-17 age range.
Safest thing to assume though is that if you get banned because of 3 NSFW violations, then you'll never be coming back.

This is where I'm kind of confused about the whole necro posting. I've always been told to search for the thread before I dare make another one. It's a good habit to get into. It starts to become a hassle when people forget to close the threads and someone decides to bring it back to life after the 2 month mark. Then others decide to post in it after the person brought it back to life, thus keeping the original topic going. After that, they would get in trouble for posting in an 'old thread'. It doesn't make much sense to me really. Why not just get rid of the rule entirely?
Just a thought.

Well that was the old rules that stated you should post in an older thread and look for older threads of the same topic before starting a new one.
