    Movie Posters

Not to create yet another 'What's your favorite topic...' topic... but, what's your favorite movie posters? I was looking at the posters in my brother's house, and it got me thinking about my own personal favorites. It just so happens that a lot of my favorite movie posters are from some of my favorite movies.

My favorite movie poster is Jaws, which also happens to be my favorite film. That image of the shark rising up out of the water to chow down on that poor skinny-dipper is one of the most instantly recognizable posters of all-time.

Another personal favorite is the poster for American Beauty. You might not have seen the movie, but the poster is of a woman's bare abdomen with a rose gently placed on it. See the movie and it'll make sense.

Boogie Nights has a very nice, very flashy '70's esque poster, which is supremely fitting for a movie about the porn industry in the 1970s.

Of course, all of the Star Wars posters get nods. I'm talking about the original trilogy's original posters, the original trilogy's re-release montage posters, even the prequel's posters.

Then, there's the movie, Gilda, with Rita Hayworth. The poster is basically just Rita Hayworth in a slinky black dress. It's a very sexy poster. I feel it complements another favorite, Breakfast at Tiffany's, with Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn's in a slinky black dress of her own, but this one's very classy.

Finally, there's this movie from the '30s called The Sin of Nora Maron. Haven't seen it and I've heard it's a relatively dull movie, but the poster, painted by the famous pin-up artist, Vargas, is of a classic Vargas girl.

I actually don't know that many official movie posters, but I'll just say that my favourite movie has a really great poster: A Clockwork Orange. I really like how Alex DeLarge, the main character, is in it, looking cocky, kind of aggressive and intriguing. The drawing or whatever it is actually resembles the actor really well.
EDIT: Just realised that the poster is actually my avatar, ha.

I don't know what the movie posters of movies I don't like look like so I'll just tell you that I like the Pulp Fiction poster. I didn't use to like it because it didn't have the two main characters on it, but I started to appreciate exactly that mysterious nature of the poster.

I like the poster of The Notebook too. It doesn't look cliché at all and it brings back good memories if you have already seen it. But I like that film a lot so maybe I'm biased.

@ Red XIV: If you haven't seen The Notebook yet, you really should. It's the best romantic film I've seen so far and it's really good outside its genre too. The movie caused a small phenomenon upon its rising popularity. Guys would say they had been "Notebooked", meaning they actually enjoyed a romantic movie and gotten softer and all. Just to say, really good movie.

I like the Lord of the Rings movie posters because its full of epicness! The Silent Hill movie poster also has some creepiness to it.

I don't have many movie posters, but the two I do have on my wall aren't the kind shown in cinemas that most people seem to get on their walls. One's of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow with the logo for Dead Man's Chest. He looks quite deviant and is holding a flintlock pistol with a dark green textured backgroud. The other is that poster of the Joker holding a card in front of his right eye. The card is a joker card with batman as the joker and it has red clown makeup on it in the shape of an eye surrounding batman. Looks rather cool. And somewhat creepy.
